The Old Hack

My older brother, a married man and a father of three, has for months been gravely ill due to a failing liver. After steadily losing strength and weight the entire time, yesterday a liver that met tissue match criteria was finally found for him. Now, after ten hours on the operating table, the surgery has succeeded and he is currently stable. I can not describe the relief I and my whole family now feel.

And now we wait and see. I feel more contented than I have for a long time. I wish you all well the coming new year.

Hope all is well. Been dealing with this kind of stuff myself lately and it's always a supreme relief to get good news from a doctor.

Winston Martin

I'm glad your brother is ok.

LastTyrant

That good news buddy! I am glad to hear your brother is doing well now. :)

Man, you must've been tearing your hair out. Can't imagine how difficult that would be to go through. Congratulations on his improved health.

Erwin the German

That's great to hear. Pass our well wishes to your brother.

I can understand the feeling TOH and I'm quite happy it worked out well for you.

It is now the second day after surgery and my brother is doing well. He still faces challenges as he has now been transferred to the section for abdominal surgery for a month -- they have to be sure he won't suffer immunological complications -- but all in all, it is a much better outlook than a failing liver, I'd say.

We are all very happy. I admit I couldn't think of a better Christmas present for his wife and kids, either. :)

Miss Match

That's really good news toh,  and I wish him all the best in his recovery.
