Allowing plot items to be dyed

So I had purchased a helmet from the Order awhile back and while it had nice stats, it looks out of place with my current gear. I go to use dyes, and it says 'Plot items cannot be dyed'.

Before that, I had a Bard who had the Mistlocke Citizen clothes and wanted to dye them a dull beige. I couldn't because it counted it as a plot item.

How about allowing it so that plot items can be dyed?

It's my understanding that certain items are supposed to appear as they are, with specific references in the descriptions.  I'm not down on your suggestion, just some items the DMs want to be unchangeable.
"So what else is on your mind besides 100 proof women, 90 proof whisky, and 14 karat gold?"
"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

"Maybe there's just one revolution.  The good guys against the bad guys.  The question is, who are the good guys?"

A leaf armors, specific material items, I think those are supposed to stay the way they are... I think the "BLACK HELM OF CHARCOAL" Isn't supposed to be white, for instance.

Ebok

Some rusty armors are suppose to look like trash, dipping then in black shouldn't change that, (but it would because that's the only way to make an armor show poor repair). You won't be seeing this get changed any time soon, although you might suggest that certain items marked plot be reconsidered for such tags.

Dunno though.

But. Some items have seemingly unnecessary plot tags. Which is where
I think he was getting at.

This.

The helmet I was mentioning did not contain any detail about its color, or its materials. Only that it had Order markings.

As for Mistlocke clothing: It's just a cloth shirt and pair of pants. I don't think there's any reason for everyone to be in the same shade of dark olive green woven shirts. :V

So, you are suggesting that a specific item might not be marked plot in general as opposed to suggesting that all plot items be dyable.

Two different suggestions!

Mort

If a DM clicked the plot tag, it means he didn`t want the item to be dyed... Tough luck.

A couple things:

Try asking a DM if it is alright to dye the item manually.

Alternatively, try a dying station, found in many faction areas. This worked for my mushroom fiber suit which was originally brown and could not be dyed. After covering it in grease, it became yellow. This was to my satisfaction.

Organized_Chaos

Dye stations in faction areas will dye plot items.

I don't think they should be able to dye plot items, personally. What would happen to all the ridiculous pink and green outfits that BOM makes if it were easy to just dye them!

Well thar's yer problem. Order advertising doesn't allow for easy removal, clearly!
