Animals and hostility

While traveling in the wilds, you encounter a number of animals that attack on sight, wolves, bears, Jungle Cats, etc...

Normally, these animals ignore, and tend to avoid humans.

Is it possible to script the hostile setting in such a way that there is a %chance of them not attacking you, and depending on your class level and ranks in AE, the chance goes up?

Just a thought.

PanamaLane

I believe there is a script like this already in place?

Thomas_Not_very_wise

I've always have the luck of being attacked on sight by wolves and other beasties.

I doubt it is.

Oskar Maxon

I think it is in place only for those with high AE/Druids with High AE.

Equinox

really? i have played serveral druids. one who had 19 AE and was still attacked by cats, wolves bears etc. Unless i am just unfortunate, i dont believe there is.

I would like to see a few more of the weak animals not be hostile and try to attack you to the death when they see you.

Killing a 6hp rat with one hit that wants to fight you to the death just seems silly... more should run away from you, or not be hostile.

Just to be clear this is not to make the wilderness easier or less 'hostile' i have no issue killing cave bears as they will see most PC's as a snack, its rats, badgers etc.

Could the boar script where they generally leave you alone but attack if you get too close be used more maybe?

Underbard

Earlier, I saw a boar attacking a deer.  Quite odd, to say the least.

Okay, I would really like to his this system empowered to the point where there is a 75% chance of leopards NOT attacking you if you're a druid.

Sounds like a lot, but if you're a druid, you are PROTECTING THE WILDS.

At this rate, It'll kill us!

I can has fun?

There is a script on the vault that turns AE into an aura, so that all animals in the aura become non-hostile.

Dr Dragon

Deal with it. ANimals dont care animals want to eat its the balance that the strong eats the weak. GAH!

Thomas_Not_very_wise

Druids have a special connection with animals, Dr.D.

Most animals won't attack a druid, it was why they weren't given hide and MS as class skills to begin with. (or that Bioware was being a dick)

ScottyB

Animals attack suitable prey when they're hungry. (With the exception of Malar beasts; non-evil but also non-good druid deities typically loathe Malar, BTW, or think he needs to be strictly controlled.)

In any case, the only wild animals that I have ever seen to potentially ignore PCs are boars. I would love to see rats and bats scatter/flee (fear?) when a powerful PC walks past them. A wolf or jungle cat is probably going to look for a deer or some other similar-sized animal that is not encased in strange metal; or at least, would not attack a party, alone.

Bears should probably have short perception range; if a DM decides the bear is hungry, they can have it go after PCs, but otherwise it'll only attack people who get close.

I don't know why I'm putting so much thought into this, since my characters never leave the ziggurat anyways.

Pup

I've always thought it strange that deer just stand there when you approach.  I think it would be cool if they were overcome with fear anytime anything comes near.

"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

What would be great for all the ranger hunter, wild types would be too give Dear excellent spot and listen, make them flee at speed from everything...

Would be cool hunting them for food/antlers etc. as a ranger or druid.

Bats and rats should not attack anyone. Killing rats / bats in the wilds is just silly, they should be flying/running away.
