Just had the thought that a potion or spell effect that temporarily changes your alignment could be an interesting and powerful effect worth putting on items. I think the scripting would be pretty minimal, and the effects could be pretty dramatic.

Just throwing this out there if any scriptDM feels like it'd be a positive addition to the server.

Effects coming to mind immediately:

Defensive application: protecting yourself against Damage vs X(alignment) weapons or spells.
They'd be a method of blocking detect evil temporarily, same a Protection from Good.
Offensive: Circumventing protection from alignment spells.

An idea for how they would work is by adding +50 points of law/chaos and good/evil for one type, and -50 of same for another, and in either case they ought to last for no more than, say, five minutes.

Potential issues: Characters using said potions to take illegal multiclass combinations - Barbarian/Paladin, Barbarian/Monk, etc

Greater efficacy of invis-ganks, which otherwise seem to be on the decline.

Keeping them about as rare as, say, Crimson Brews (or more extremely) elixirs of improvement, these could add a new and interesting aspect to PvP, which has, I think, been accused (perhaps not wrongly) of being a very rock-paper scissors affair re: the order potions are consumed.

Anyway, just food for thought.

Please consider the RP ramifications of changing your alignment before suggesting this. You're touching the very essence of who or what a character is by merely having him drink a potion.

Howlando

This is not desirable.

Disco

Horrible idea mate :)

Teeth in a Bowl

Can we add the Apparatus of Kwalish, or the Girdles of Masculinity/Femininity while we're at it? ;)

Weaverific

Cursed objects of gender change would actually be a hysterical dm plot loot item.

Also, the Head of Venca.

The alignment defines who your character is. If they've done terrible things, that's their consequence that Paladins can see them, and how they're suspect to alignment based wards. Straight alignment change would just be a bad, bad idea.

Voting no on this one. :U

Big Orc Man

Your character defines who your character is.

Your alignment is just a backwards-looking assessment of their personality / morals / etc.

It is not at all predictive; it is reactive.

A lawful evil character can by all means act chaotically if it is in keeping with their character's personality.  All it means is the alignment will likely shift to "catch up".

That said, being able to change it on a whim for PVP purposes is probably a bad idea.
