Please can you guys see about changing this quest in some way? I never see people even do it anymore because of how far out it is and the difficulty to reach it, not to mention the difficulty of it all and low reward for all the risks (high withering included).

KreShar

the loot reward is pretty horrible but the exp reward is some of the highest out there.

Professor Death

This one may need to be looked at, yes.  I've done it only once or twice, and that's because my PCs were recruited by nature-types who needed help.  There's not a lot of IC incentive for townies to head out there and it is in a higher withering area.  If I remember, loot was decent but not spectacular.  At the least, maybe remind folks through the ambient system that this is out there to do:

"Travelers into town report seeing a small group of withered and battle-scarred Stargazers looking for help to aid in the defense of..."

Howlando

This quest has been tweaked.

Outcast

One of the more fun quests!

Well - It still isn't good in my opnion. A little extra coin and the same rewards you would find on a well or Muskroot's style quest (levels 3-7 compared to 6-10) isn't enticing. Maybe the script is broken on generation the "potion chest" or something, but handing out two blurs and mostly moderate or light healing seems a bit off in this level range.

The gold reward may seem large, but two-three hundred coins per character will not make up for the heavy lack of actual reward in terms of supplies (And many are spent to accomplish this quest, even with a pretty good group)

It also appears to be even longer than before, which may or may not be a bug, but nonetheless makes it an even more expensive journey. We've tried it twice since the tweaks and each time ended with very poor results.

Incorrigible

I was the one looting on it so no, before anyone suggests it, the loot was not pitiful because of skimming. Shortly after it on the walk back we found a random which we completed half-buffed with almost no expenditure and in 1/8th the time in a much less withered area with a smaller group. The loot was almost twice as good as this quest by comparison.

Really with the sheer number of giants and other enemies, and the extremely long duration exposure to a high withering area.. it simply has no reward. When the loot bins have a single withering root or worse inside them and a potion cache comparable to the Well quest.. yea, nothing more to say about it really.

Mort

Gotta nerf the well quest, then.

Knight Of Pentacles

l.o.l  Some good ambient loot drops on this quest AFAIK.  When you get stuff that you can't obtain else where and has special, useful and powerful properties it should balance out the risk-to-reward.  I think people just need to be a bit more organized about their adventuring parties perhaps, less "grab-and-go" and then they won't get stuck wondering why they went into such a shit deficit.

Professor Death

I was part of this most recent run as well and concur that the reward was weak in terms of the loot. Potions were comparable to the well and I really don't recall seeing any permanent loot items in the pile per se.

If Mort's comment about nerfing the well was made to silence the feedback here, I also concur that if overall reward in bogs is as intended, then yes the well does need to scale back the reward. It is a huge xp award and good potions haul as is. And yes the little random lizard man lair we found was less work, less wither, and just as much loot as we had in the bogs. It was lower in xp and no coin though.

trick_or_treat

not every quest is supposed to bring back all the supplies you burn on it..

putrid_plum

not all quests are equal and not all rewards are!  some quests are for flavore or just make sense for a character, instead of spamming 'Well' over and over some players enjoy new challenges reguardless of reward

but i do think xp reward should be accurate for a challenging quest, i'm sure this one is too

KingHovCopy

No one said they need to be balanced or equal. It just needs a little more help to be worth the time going there. :)

Decimate_The_Weak

Maybe a simpler solution is to add more of the loot "chests" for the end reward. It has less chests than granary if I remember correctly.

This quest still needs a looking at in terms of reward. The loot really seems to be aimed towards people who embrace the withering, from what I've seen, and they wouldn't be helping protect a zodiac group. Also, I feel like it would make more sense for the npc to reward you with some sort of zodiac item reward rather than coin for completion.

I may just have been totally unlucky with the reward from doing the quest the times I have but it's honestly harder than zautaro with MUCH less reward and by harder I mean since you can lose this quest without dying.
