1. Forward:
* The Histories, Purpose
This work is an effort to record the histories of the Shrouded Isles and the individuals whom have called them home. An effort to provide a context and degree of understanding onto the lore and knowledge gathered in these pages. Finally, it is an effort to preserve the lore of this place for our descendants. For these Isles have shown that those who do not understand the past are easily damned by their own hands.
* The Histories, Structure
This work is divided into multiple chapters. The chapters of the Chronology attempt to detail the known history of the Shrouded Isles from antiquity to present day. Mentioned in the Chronology are a plethora of topics including events, individuals, locations, and so on. Further details on each of these may be found in the chapters focused on that topic.
* The Histories, Sources
A great many provided the knowledge found in this work. Ranging from previously written texts to spoken lore, a listing of these may be found under Chapter 12, Sources.
* The Histories, Dates
An extensive number of texts and traditions have been used as sources for the lore found in this work, all of them with their own method for the recording of time. For the sake of simplicity, one system for the recording of dates is required. All dates found in The Histories have been translated to Dale Reckoning, at times recorded as "DR".
* The Shrouded Isles, Depiction
The first depiction of the Shrouded Isles is credited to Hyrsicator Zypaehm Faussad of the Transcendent Conclave. The below is a recreation of this depiction, with Tome of the Isle serving as the source.
* The Rise of the Colony

* The Queen's War, 5 Mirtul 1376 DR to 20 Flamrule 1376 DR
The conflict often referred to as the "Queen's War" was waged between Count Zarono Senuspur of Old Port and Queen Ixpadia Sabuth of the Shourded Isles in 1376 DR. The causes of the Queen's War lay in the manner Count Senuspur laid claim to the throne of Old Port. Count Zarono Senuspur gained the throne of Old Port after the War of Succession as the last surviving, if indirect, descendant of Prince Angelo Senuspur of the Shrouded Isles. The veracity of Count Senuspur's claim to House Senuspur, and the throne of Old Port, was unclear as documents from the War of Succession claim that Prince Angelo Senuspur's line was ended.
* The Fall of the Colony, 1378 DR

* The Rise of the Second Shrouding, 1378 DR
Following the release of H'Bala on 23 Hammer 1377 DR on the Isle of Ymph, the Mist is said to have risen to cover all the Isles of the Shrouded Isles in the Second Shrouding of the Shrouded Isles in the year 1378 DR. Neither the Withering curse of H'Bala nor the minions of H'Bala were able to pierce the warding of the Mist. Though as with all things, the Second Shrouding of the Shrouded Isles was to come to an end by 1380 DR. As of 1381 DR the Mist had receded over a portion of the Shrouded Isles with the Forgotten Forrest of the Isle of Ymph remaining the largest single area under the warding of the Mist.
* The Election of Ortho Althus Quilby as Lord Mayor, 1378 DR

* The Fall of the Second Shrouding, 1380 DR
The Second Shrouding of the Shrouded Isles began in 1378 DR following the release of H'Bala on 23 Hammer 1377 DR on the Isle of Ymph. It is said that during the Second Shrouding the Mist rose to ward all of the Shrouded Isles from the Withering and the minions of H'Bala. However, as with all things the Second Shrouding was to come to an end. The year 1380 DR was the last year of the Second Shrouding of the Shrouded Isles. By the year 1381 DR the Mist had receded over much of the Shrouded Isles, with the Forgotten Forrest of the Isle of Ymph remaining the single largest area to remain under the warding of the Mist.
* The Election of Joe Pleate as Lord Mayor, 4 Eleint 1381 DR

* The Election of Rodry Sosay as Lord Mayor, 15 Uktar 1381 DR

* The Election of John Rossart as Lord Mayor, 28 Nightal 1381 DR
Due to the disappearance of the former Lord Mayor Rodryk Sosay, the Council of Elders of the hamlet of Mistlocke announced an election for the position of Lord Mayor of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph on 11 Nightal 1381 DR.  Though many entered their names into the election for Lord Mayor of Mistlocke, it soon became apparent that the question of Lord Mayorship would be decided between Candidates John Rossart and Davan Redthorn. In the end, it was Candidate John Rossart who was elected Lord Mayor of Mistlocke by the will of it's residents. Lord Mayor Rossart gained the title of Lord Mayor by the support of the residents of Mistlocke, House Caermyn, the Gilded Arrows, and the Numinous Order. A review of the main Candidates and the nature of their campaigns follows.

Lord Mayor John Rossart - Lord Mayor Rossart focused his campaign upon a pledge of a honest and clear Lord Mayorship. While this may seem trite to some, consider the recent history of Mistlocke as of 1381 DR. Multiple previous Lord Mayors had been found to be either dishonest, absent, or incompetent.  To begin, Lord Mayor Rossart proposed the abolishment of the office of Lord Mayor and the creation instead of a Council of Three. The thought was to divide the power of the Lord Mayorship into thirds, so that no longer could Mistlocke suffer from the absence or dishonest actions of one mortal.

This concept of a Council of Three was ill received by the residents of Mistlocke. One must understand that by clinging to tradition, the hamlet of Mistlocke had survived in that most dire of places the Isle of Ymph. So radical a change raised the specter of disaster in the eyes of many. Hearing these statements, Lord Mayor Rossart assented to the will of the residents of Mistlocke and turned from his desires for the Council of Three.

Instead, Lord Mayor Rossart focused his campaign for the office he would hold upon four main pillars. A Ledger of Known Criminals, the Training of the Muster, the Removal of Captain Volaunt of the Muster, and the Beginings of Legal Reform. The Ledger of Known Criminals was an effort to aid the Muster and bring a greater sense or order to the hamlet of Mistlocke. It was a method to record the ill deeds of any resident of Mistlocke, and to spread this information beyond the Muster to House Caermyn and the Numinous Order. An effort to allow the warriors of House Caerymn and the Numinous Order to aid the failing Muster.

In regards to the Training of the Muster, one must first understand that as of the Election of 28 Nightal 1381 DR the Mayor's Muster of Mistlocke was an untrained militia of volunteers. As such, Lord Mayor Rossart ran upon the promise to transform the Mayor's Muster from this militia to a military formation. A main point in this plan to transform the Mayor's Muster was the hiring of mercenaries to serve as instructors to the individuals of the Mayor's Muster. To grant the Mayor's Muster the knowledge they lacked, the knowledge that separates the untrained villager from the hardened soldier.

An addition to the issue of the Mayor's Muster, was the matter of Captain Volaunt of the Mayor's Muster. It is said that the Captain stood aside during the uprising of House Aberdenn a month prior to the Election of Lord Mayor of Mistlocke of 28 Nightal 1381 DR. As Lord Mayor Rossart noted, how can the Muster be expected to serve the hamlet of Mistlocke if it's own Captain will not accept his legal duty. This question of legal duty would also serve as the final pillar of Lord Mayor Rossart's campaign. A promise to reform the legal code of Mistlocke as to many of the prior absent and traitorous Lord Mayors had mangled it beyond saving. One point in particular Lord Mayor Rossart was clear upon, the Numinous Order. Upon his election, individuals convicted by Mistlocke of a grave crime could be sent to the service of the Numinous Order instead of their deaths. In this service, these convicts would face the minions of H'Bala under the banner of the Numinous Order. With the above campaign pillars and the support of Clan Caemryn, the Numinous Order, and the Gilded Arrows; John Rossart gained the Lord Mayorship of Mistlocke in the Nightal - Hammer Election of 1381 DR on 28 Nightal 1381 DR.

Candidate Davan Redthorn - Candidate Rethron's campaign for Lord Mayor of Mistlocke was focused upon several pillars as well, though the nature of these pillars was in part quite different from Lord Mayor Rossart. In the main Candidate Rethorn offered to train the Muster, much as Lord Mayor Rossart pledged. However beyond this similarity Candidate Redthorn spoke of granting immediate Citizenship to all residents of Mistlocke as it had been in times past, legalizing and regulations of the sale of narcotics in an effort to generate revenue for the hamlet of Mistlocke, and to unseal the Old Stones once more with a repeal of the Summerset Act. While the merits of each of these pillars may be debated, the pillars themselves are not what characterized the campaign of Candidate Davan Redthorn. Rather, Candidate Redthorn's campaign was the source of many questionable practices that were brought to the view of all. Least among these was the payment of individuals to destroy Lord Mayor Rossart's campaign flyers and the production of false claims that Lord Mayor Rossart was a servant of the Prince of Lies. Given the history of Mistlocke with absent or treasonous Lord Mayors, these actions of Candidate Redthorn were ill received by the residents of Mistlocke.
* The Lottery of 28 Nightal 1381 DR
Following on the election of Lord Mayor Rossart, the Mist began to thicken over the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph and it was announced that a Lottery was to be called on 28 Nightal 1381 DR. The residents of Mistlocke gathered and entered their names, the town was bared from entry or exit as all waited to see whom would be named Champion.  It is worth noting that present in Mistlocke and breathing the very Mist that warded them from the Withering, there were several whom loudly proclaimed the Lottery as vile. Loudest among these was one Rannie Marrinson, believed to be a servant of Lady Firehair. It is to Mistlocke's misfortune that her name was the one drawn in the Lottery. Almost at once, her companions were beaten down as they tried to oppose the Lottery by force of arms. Several times these violent outbursts would occur and be put down as Rannie was taken to the Last Keep.  The violence encouraged no doubt by Rannie's never ending pleas and cries for some other, any other to take her place. Several volunteered to serve as Champion in her place, but such had never been done before. Always before had the Lottery been adhered to, though none but the Lord Mayor's of Mistlocke know what truly awaits the Champions.

In the end, Lord Mayor Rossart relented to Rannie's never ended shrieks and allowed Rannie to be returned to her companions. In her place, Zerudaxos of the Wrym Watchers and Faithful of Osiris volunteered and was given the honor of Champion.  It should be noted that upon Rannie's return, her companions departed at once. Rannie and her companions cries of vileness of the Lottery had been silenced as soon as they were safe and another was to be given to the Mist as Champion. Indeed, in their haste they mentioned not one word to Zerudaxos, whom had agreed to take Rannie's place. Lord Mayor Rossart and Zerudaxos departed, and after a time the Lord Mayor returned alone and announced that Zerudaxos had been presented as Champion.

The consequences of the craven actions of Rannie Marrinson were still to be felt, however. Wind, rain, and lightening fell upon the hamlet of Mistlocke and the Mist remained thick. Spirits of the Mist began to form throughout Mistlocke, striking out at the residents of Mistlocke at times. With each sitting in Mistlocke these Mist Spirits wailed by a single word, and that word was the name Rannie Marrinson. It was clear that the sacrifice of Zerudaxos was in vain, that only the Champion elected by the Lottery could serve. That Rannie Marrinson alone would the Mist accept.

A search for Rannie was launched at once, a search followed by a sending pleading her to do her duty and ensure Mistlocke remains in the protection of the Mist. A search and a sending that were to no avail, for Rannie was not found and refused to present herself. The  days past and further searches were launched, again to no avail. If found alone Rannie would flee with pleas for mercy or forgiveness, if supported by her companions she would great any who attempted to persuade her to return with curses and vile insults. The Mist remained heavy upon Mistlocke and the Elders of Mistlocke were forced to take a hand, they issued a warning that if the Champion did not present herself in one week doom would fall upon Mistlocke. Those who walked the Mist laden streets of Mistlocke during those days reported visions and whispers that the Mist was being torn apart without the presence of the Champion.

It would take another two days of desperate search and at least one more death of a companion before Rannie finally returned to Mistlocke to stand as Champion. What transpired in the Mist is unknown to this day, however it is known that Rannie was the first Champion to ever return from the Mist to Mistlocke. Though her defiance of the Mist and the danger she placed Mistlocke in would have a price, it is said Rannie servant of Lady Firehair returned from the Mist a bloated and obese mockery of her former slender self. At the completion of the tradition of the Lottery, the Mist lessened and slipped back to the ward between Mistlocke and the horrors of the Maiden. The price had been paid at last for this most potent of protections.

Of these events, two truths become clear. First, the tradition of the Lottery is one that can never be tampered with. So long as Mistlocke wishes to remain under the Mist, the Lottery must go forward. Second, the mainland ideals that would turn against the Lottery are ones that those whom live upon the Isle of Ymph can ill afford. The Isle of Ymph holds horrors beyond the keen of most upon the mainlands, yet in addition to these horrors are powers beyond understanding. To turn ones back upon these powers simple because they do not line up with the ideals of a far softer land is unwise.
* The Resignation of Captain Volaunt, 2 Hammer 1382 DR
The events of the Lottery of 28 Nightal 1381 DR were but days over when, on 2 Hammer 1382 DR, the matter of Captain Volaunt of the Mayor's Muster of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle Ymph was brought to a head. During the attempted Aberdenn uprising a month prior to the Election of 28 Nightal 1381 DR, Captain Volaunt had stood aside and abandoned his duty as Captain of the Muster. It was believed this action was taken out of sympathy to the views and actions of House Aberdenn over House Caemryn.

The subject of this inaction by Captain Volaunt had plagued Mistlocke for weeks, and indeed was a major topic of debate during the Election of 28 Nightal 1381 DR. Indeed, Lord Mayor Rossart had pledged to remove the Captain upon his election and was in the process of determining the Captain's fate. In the end, it was the action of two of the Mayor's Muster that forced the matter.

On 2 Hammer 1382 DR two of the Mayor's Muster assaulted the members of Argenti gypsies in the streets of Mistlocke, these actions were said to have been taken on the orders of Captain Volaunt himself. This assault, and the death of the Argenti child that resulted from it, drew a mob of Mistlocke residents to the door of the Muster howling for the removal of Captain Volaunt. Though there was a great deal of question on whose orders exactly the two Mustermen in question had acted, Lord Mayor Rossart was forced to take action. Faced with forcible removable from office, Captain Volaunt resigned his position and removed himself from Mistlocke with a number of the most experienced of the Muster. It is believed that the Captain moved to join House Aberdenn in exile in the forest beyond Mistlocke's border. Though the cause of these events are a mystery, their result is quite clear. Mistlocke stands with fewer defenders as the times grow more troubled.
* The Slaying of Apipoplethiraxos, 5 Hammer 1382 DR
On the 5 Hammer 1382 DR, the draconic of white Apipolethiraxos was slain in the peeks of the mountains of the Isle of Ymph by the warriors of House Caemryn and the Gilded Arrows. The death of this draconic was no mere happenstance, it was an action carefully thought of. The cause of this slaying was the very nature of Apipolethiraxos, a doom brought by it's own hand.

The lore of Apipolethiraxos holds that the draconic would send "heralds", or mortal servants, among the peoples of Ymph seeking tithes to the draconic's horde. It was these heralds and the tithes the heralds sought that would bring the draconic's end, for when one of these herald's packs was taken from him the powerful relics granted to the herald by Apipolethiraxos were revealed. The desire for these relics and the wealth contained in Apipolethiraxos' horde, revealed by the nature of the relic's found in the herald's pack, was the cause of the draconic's death.

House Caemryn approached the Gilded Arrows with an accord to divide the draconic's spoils should their combined prowess prove capable of slaying Apipolethiraxos. With this agreement, House Caemryn and the Gilded Arrows journeyed deep into the mountains of Isle of Ymph. There they flew upon the backs of the eagles to the very peak of the mountains of the Isle of Ymph. Upon the warriors gaining the mountain top, the eagles remained to insure the draconic did not take to the air once the battle was joined.

Providing false claims of "tithes" to Apipoplexthiraxos, the warriors of House Caemryn and the Gilded Arrows gained an audience with the draconic. There, upon the utterance of the word "Phoenix", four "firebombs" were unleashed upon Apipothlexthiraxos. The heat of the flames released by these "firebombs" overcame the draconic, Apipothlexthiraxos was burned to his death. The death of the draconic did not end the the matter, House Caemryn and the Gilded Arrows still faced the troll kind and giants of ice whom had pledged themselves to Apipothlexthiraxos. The battle was joined, in the end the warriors of House Caemryn and the Gilded Arrows fought free of the mountains with the remains of Apipothlexthiraxos and the slain draconic's horde. A lesson to those that would see, even the greatest of mortals shall fail. Apipolethiraxos slain by the cunning and skill of ones small in comparison to the draconic's might.
* The Removal of John Rossart as Lord Mayor, 11 Hammer 1382 DR
John Rossart, Lord Mayor of Mistlocke gained his Office in the Election of 28 Nightal 1381 DR by the will of the people of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. Chief among those whom supported Lord Mayor Rossart during the Election of 28 Nightal 1381 DR was House Caemryn. Lord Mayor Rossart's campaign during the Election was based upon a promise to act in a manner different from previous Lord Mayor's of Mistlocke whom had fallen far short of their Office, to rule Mistlocke in a manner based upon principle as opposed to greed or sloth. Upon Lord Mayor Rossart's gaining of the Office of Lord Mayor, it was by principle that the Lord Mayor ruled until his removal from Office of Lord Mayor of Mistlocke on 11 Hammer 1382 DR.

Lord Mayor Rossart's rule, while brief, was not one of peace. The relation between the Lord Mayor and the various powers whom had seen him elected became strained, the Lord Mayor's rulership based upon principle often brought him into conflict with these powers. This strain came to it's conclusion on 11 Hammer 1382 DR. It was on that day that Lord Mayor Rossart took his vows to the Numinous Order in the square of Mistlocke. This action was not done upon a whim, or flight of fancy. Lord Mayor Rossart had long held the Faith of the Numinous Order, the Lord Mayor felt he could no longer postpone his formal Oath to the Numinous Order and remain a man of principle.

The dogma, and resulting code of honor, of the Numinous Order is not gentle. Few who do not share the Faith of the Numinous Order find it easy to accept the laws of the Numinous Order. It was for this reason that the people of Mistlocke cried out in anger at Lord Mayor Rossart's induction into the Numinous Order. First among the ones angered by Lord Mayor Rossart's actions were the members of House Caemryn. It is said after Lord Mayor Rossart's induction, House Caermyn came directly to Lord Mayor Rossart and demanded that Lord Mayor Rossart abdicate his position as Lord Mayor of Mistlocke. When Lord Mayor Rossart refused, House Caermyn threatened to end House Caermyn's contract to provide grain to Castle Blackhearth of the Numinous Order.

With this threat from House Caermyn, Lord Mayor Rossart faced a trial of conscience. The Lord May could either bend to House Caermyn and abdicate the position of Lord Mayor Mistlocke, or the Lord Mayor could watch as his sworn Brothers and Sisters of the Numinous Order starved to their death's in Castle Blackhearth. For Castle Blackhearth sits as the central fortress of the Numinous Order and remains under constant siege by the forces of H'Bala, without the grain shipments of House Caermyn the Castle has no supply of food. A slow and lingering death for the warriors of Numinous Order, starvation as they stand at their posts holding back the horrors of the Maiden.

On the surface, this would seem a simple choice. Yet for the Lord Mayor to abdicate his position was to break his sworn word to the people of Mistlocke, that he would rule upon principle for his term as Lord Mayor of Mistlocke. In the end, Lord Mayor Rossart refused to bend to the threats of House Caemryn. As of 13 Hammer 1382 DR it is unknown if House Caemryn will truly break their contract to provide grain to Castle Blackhearth and doom the warriors of the Numinous Order in their struggle against H'Bala. House Caemryn's other actions in response to Lord Mayor Rossart's refusal to abdicate are clear, however. House Caemryn called to council the Elders of Mistlocke and demanded the removal of John Rossart from the Lord Mayorship of Mistlocke. On 11 Hammer 1382 DR the Council of Elders of Mistlocke acceded to the demands of House Caemryn. Lord Mayor John Rossart was removed from his office at the behest of House Caemryn, his one time supporters. It is said that John Rossart now stands with the Numinous Order, a Footman sworn to his Faith.
* The Naming of Davan Redthorn as Lord Mayor, 11 Hammer 1382 DR
After the removal of John Rossart as Lord Mayor of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph; Davan Redthorn, Retainer of House Caemryn and John Rossart's main rival during the Election of 28 Nightal Hammer 1381 DR, was named Lord Mayor of Mistlocke by the Council of Elders of Mistlocke and entrusted to serve the remainder of John Rossart's term. Upon being named to the Lord Mayorship, Davan Redthorn was forced to renounce his status as Retainer of House Caemryn. Indeed, one of Davan Redthorn's first actions as Lord Mayor was to announce that House Aberdenn would be allowed to return to Mistlocke as of 11 Hammer 1382 DR. House Aberdenn had remained exiled to the forests beyond Mistlocke's gates following House Aberdenn's attempted uprising in late 1381 DR. Though on the surface Lord Mayor Redthorn's actions seem those of a man no longer bound by his former affiliation to House Caemryn, some view Lord Mayor Redthorn's actions with a cynical eye. These detractors claim that Lord Mayor Redthorn's actions are no more than a thin screen of smoke to cover the Lord Mayor's continued allegiance to House Caemryn.
* The Naming of Midah Resher as Lord Captain, 15 Hammer 1382 DR
The resignation of Captain Volaunt of the Mayor's Muster on 2 Hammer 1382 DR was followed by the departure of Captain Volaunt and a number of the most skilled of the Mayor's Muster from the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. For over a ten day the Mayor's Muster had stood without a Captain or it's full number. It was said by many that Captain Midah Resher of the Gilded Arrows was to be named Captain of the Mayor's Muster, and on 15 Hammer 1382 DR such was done by decree of Lord Mayor Redthorn and the Council of Elders of Mislocke. The depleted ranks of the Mayor's Muster were bolstered as well, for in addition to the naming of Captain Resher it was also decreed by Lord Mayor Redthorn that the Gilded Arrows were to be charged with the warding of Mistlocke in addition to the Mayor's Muster.

Some relief was felt by the residents of Mistlocke at these acts. For now, at the least, the Mayor's Muster was under the command of a Captain and the ranks of the Muster were filled. Still, there were those whom noted the Gilded Arrow's long association with House Caemryn. As of 15 Hammer 1382 DR, upon the throne of Mistlocke now sat Lord Mayor Redthorn, a former associate of House Caemryn, and the ranks of the Mayor's Muster stand filled with warriors long associated with House Caemryn. A question as to the influence of House Caemryn over the rule of Mistlocke, despite the return of House Aberdenn to the Hall of Aberdenn in Mistlocke on 11 Hammer 1382 DR.
* Declaration of War with the Transcendent Conclave, 18 Hammer 1382 DR
The Transcendent Conclave had stood exiled from the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph following the banishment of the Transcendent Conclave by then Lord Mayor Garethn Caemryn. From this time to 18 Hammer 1382 DR, multiple melees had erupted between various warriors of the Transcendent Conclave and the hamlet of Mistlocke both within the walls of Mistlocke and across the Isle of Ymph. The most common cause for these encounters was the Transcendent Conclave's sworn oath to seek out those deemed "renegade", ones whose arcane talents were either dangerous or uncontrolled. As many of these "renegades" resided in the hamlet of Mistlocke, the warriors of Mistlocke viewed the taking of these "renegades" as enslavement. There had been multiple attempts at a resolution of peace to resolve these differences and accept the Transcendent Conclave back into Mistlocke, none of these attempts at a peaceful resolution had been determined acceptable by both the Transcendent Conclave and the Lord Mayor of Mistlocke.

These violent encounters between the Transcendent Conclave and the warriors of Mistlocke came to a head on 18 Hammer 1382 DR. On that date the Transcendent Conclave sought to take a young girl from a farm near Mistlocke due to the child's inability to control her arcane gift. As the warriors of the Transcendent Conclave were in discussions with the men of the farm regarding the fate of the arcanely gifted girl, Lord Mayor Redthorn of Mistlocke arrived on the farmlands with the Gilded Arrows and warriors of Mistlocke. Tensions soon rose as Lord Mayor Redthorn demanded that the Transcendent Conclave depart the farmland and leave the arcanely gifted child in peace. These tensions moved from words to violence as a melee broke out between the Transcendent Conclave and the warriors of Mistlocke, a melee the Transcendent Conclave was victorious in.

As the warriors of the Transcendent Conclave stood over their defeated foes, there was talk of a resolution for peace between the beaten Lord Mayor Redthorn and the Transcendent Conclave. It was at this moment that the nature of the arcane powers of the girl on the farmland was made clear. Slaadi began to erupt from the bodies of the farmhands, and it is said that arcane portal began to spew forth more and more of the Slaadi. The child had mistakenly opened this portal and infected every farm hand on her farm with the plague of the Slaadi. The warriors of the Transcendent Conclave and the wounded warriors of Mistlocke fell to arms against these Slaadi. Step by step, however, the warriors of the Transcendent Conclave and Mistlocke were driven back as more and more of the Slaadi poured forth form the portal and the bodies of the farm hands. As the warriors of the Transcendent Conclave and Mistlocke were driven from the farmland, two Consorts of the Transcendent Conclave rushed the farm house and drug the arcanely gifted girl from the farm. With the girl in hand, all the warriors of the Transcendent Conclave and Mistlocke fled from the farmland and the hordes of Slaadi.

The arcanely gifted girl was taken to the Enclave of the Transcendent Conclave so that her power may be contained an no longer spread the plague of the Slaadi across the farmlands of Mistlocke. Lord Mayor Redthorn and a personal guardsman were also invited to the Enclave of the Transcendent Concalve to conduct a final resolution of peace to end the melees between the Transcendent Conclave and the warriors of Mistlocke. What transpired between Lord Mayor Redthorn and the Triumvirate of the Transcendent Conclave is unkonwn, the results however are far more public.

Upon returning to Mistlocke, Lord Mayor Redthorn put forth an announcement that he was to give a speech from the balcony of the Last Keep. It was during this speech that Lord Mayor Redthron announced a grave change in the relations between Mistlocke and the Transcendent Conclave, a change from tension and the occasional melee to one of outright warfare. Naming the Transcendent Conclave's taking of the arcanely gifted girl from the farmlands as the final act, Lord Mayor Redthorn declared war upon the Transcendent Conclave and placed a bounty of two thousand coins on the head of every individual whom claimed membership in the Transcendent Conclave or was deemed an associate of the Transcendent Conclave.

As of 19 Hammer 1382 DR a formal response from the Transcendent Conclave to this declaration of war and bounties by Lord Mayor Redthorn has yet to be forthcoming. This declaration of war against the Transcendent Conclave and the latter events of 18 Hammer 1382 DR left a sense of fear and unease in the hamlet of Mistlocke. Older texts speak of the year 1378 DR, when the Oracle of the Transcendent Conclave meet the Maiden in battle upon the Floating Enclave of the Transcendent Conclave. These texts claim that the Oracle faced the Maiden in battle and drove her back, casting the Maiden from the Floating Enclave of the Transcendent Conclave. A grim tiding for the hamlet of Mistlocke if these texts are accurate, to declare a war and place a bounty upon such a power.
* The Naming of Owain Aberdenn as Heir to the Crown of the Isles, 18 Hammer 1382 DR
On 18 Hammer 1382 DR, the fires of the King Tower's were lit across the Isle of Ymph. It is said that a band of Wrym Watchers and House Aberdenn marched upon the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph, fleeing in terror before them were the vile monsters of the forests about Mistlocke. Upon reaching Mistlocke the Wrym Watches and House Aberdenn, named Owain Aberdenn, a youth in his second decade of life as of 1382 DR, as the true Heir to the Crown of the Isle by right of direct line of descent from Donyarth the Bastard, son of King Agramant of the Shrouded Isles. With this statement was the true reason for the Aberdenn rebellion in 1382 DR against then Lord Mayor Rodryk Sosay of the hamlet Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph revealed. A rebellion said to have been justified with the revelation that in life Lord Mayor Rodryk Sosay was a sworn Ruby of Count  Zarono Senuspur of Old Port.

It is said that when Lord Mayor Redthorn moved to greet Owain Aberdenn, Owain named Lord Mayor Redthorn a serpent. Furthermore, Owain Aberdenn is said to have named John Rossart as the true Lord Mayor of Mistlocke for the remainder of John Rossart's elected term. In a final act prior to his return to the care and protection of the Auld Wrym's Hearth, Owain Aberdenn is said to have named Gadwy One-Eye to act in Owain's stead in the hamlet of Mistlocke.
* The Death of John Rossart, 18 Hammer 1382 DR
The hours after the naming of Owain Aberdenn as the Heir to the Crown of the Isles were one of terror in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. It was revealed that Maurice Cross whom stood second in command of the Gilded Arrows was in truth a Caliphar of the Transcendent Conclave. This revelation was of no little significance, recall that just days prior to 18 Hammer 1382 DR Lord Mayor Redthorn had declared war upon the Transcendent Conclave and named the Gilded Arrows to act with the Mayor's Muster in the hamlet of Mistlocke. Indeed, Midah Resher of the Gilded Arrows had been named Lord Captain of Mistlocke and placed in command of the Mayor's Muster in addition Lord Captain Resher's command of the Gilded Arrows. As such, Caliphar Kross' movement to the Floating Enclave of the Transcendent Conclave and the announcement of Caliphar Kross' rank of Caliphar in the Transcendent Conclave spread fear and uncertainty throughout the Gilded Arrows and the hamlet of Mistlocke.

In the midst of this fear over the revelation of Caliphar Kross, Lord Mayor Redthorn refused to acknowledge Owain Aberdenn's authority to restore Former Lord Mayor and Footman John Rossart of the Numinous Order to the Lord Mayorship of Mistlocke. Following this refusal, Footman John Rossart gathered those still loyal to himself and those whom were troubled by the acts of Lord Mayor Redthorn. Of those loyal to Footman John Rossart were the Numinous Order, the Wrym Watchers, House Aberdenn, the Mayor's Muster, and many of the warriors of Mistlocke. With these blades at his back, Footman John Rossart moved to confront Lord Mayor Redthorn and those loyal to Lord Mayor Redthorn in the basement of the Mist End Inn in the hamlet of Mistlocke.

In the Mist End, Footman John Rossart demanded that Lord Mayor Redthorn resign from the Lord Mayorship of Mistlocke. At Lord Mayor Redthorn's refusal, a melee broke froth between those loyal to Footman John Rossart and those loyal to Lord Mayor Redthorn. The blades loyal to Lord Mayor Redthorn during this melee were formed of House Caemryn,  Lord Mayor Redthorn's personal guardsman, and Valeria Komenos. Though gravely outnumbered, the blades and relics of those loyal to Lord Mayor Redthorn's could not be overcome by Footman John Rossart and those loyal to John Rossart. At the end of the melee, John Rossart and all those loyal to him lay beaten and broken upon the floor of the Mist End Inn.

As Lord Mayor Redthorn and House Caemryn stood over their broken foes in the Mist End Inn, the following judgement was passed by Lord Mayor Redthorn. All those of the Wrym Watchers, House Aberdenn, and the Numinous Order whom had assaulted Lord Mayor Redthorn were to be pardoned save Footman John Rossart. Footman John Rossart was dragged to the square of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph and executed upon order of Lord Mayor Redthorn before the eyes of residents of Mistlocke. It is said that the final request of Footman John Rossart was for his remains to be given to the Lake of Mist, a tradition of the Numinous Order.

Following the execution of Footman John Rossart, Lord Mayor Redthorn and the blades in support of Lord Mayor Redthorn moved to the Last Keep with the remains of Footman John Rossart. From the Last Keep, two proclamations were issued by Lord Mayor Redthorn. First, Lord Mayor Redthorn named his personal guardsman and Valeria Komenos as Knight Protectors of Mistlocke for their honored service to Lord Mayor Redthorn. Second, Lord Mayor Redthorn announced that in due time the remains of Footman John Rossart would be given to the Lake of Mist per the final request of Footman John Rossart. Both of these proclamations of Lord Mayor Redthorn would prove a bitter irony.

For but minutes after these proclamations had been uttered through arcane sendings by Lord Mayor Redthorn, a column of warriors of the Numinous Order appeared upon the bridge of the hamlet of Mistlocke. Lead by Jacques de Villiers of the Numinous Order, these warriors of the Numinous Order demanded the presence of Lord Mayor Redthorn. Upon the appearance of Lord Mayor Redthorn at the bridge of the hamlet of Mistlocke, Jacques de Villiers of the Numinous Order demanded that Lord Mayor Redthorn surrender the remains of Footman John Rossart so that the remains may be given to the Lake of Mist per Footman John Rossart's last request. Lord Mayor Redthorn attempted to refuse this demand, Lord Mayor Redthorn stated instead that Footman John Rossart's remains would be surrendered only upon an oath that no member of the Numinous Order would henceforth challenge or subvert Lord Mayor Redthorn's rule of the hamlet of Mistlocke. Upon hearing this demand of Lord Mayor Redthorn, Jacques de Villiers refused and swore that he would cut through every individual whom stood between himself and the remains of Footman John Rossart. Faced with this oath of Jacques de Villiers of the Numinous Order, Lord Mayor Redthorn acquiesced to the demand of the Numinous Order to present the remains of Footman John Rossart without delay.

Lord Mayor Redthorn and the Lord Mayor's personal guardsman returned to the Last Keep to retrieve the remains of Footman John Rossart. When these remains were brought before Jacques de Villiers on the bridge of the hamlet of Mistlocke, a horror came over all those whom looked upon the scene. For the remains of Footman John Rossart had been desecrated while in the Last Keep of the hamlet of Mistlocke. Footman John Rossart's head had been broken from his slain body, his stilled heart ripped from his chest. Upon the sight of this desecration, a rage came upon Jacques de Villiers of the Numinous Order. Turning his eyes upon Lord Mayor Redthorn and the blades whom stood in support of Lord Mayor Redthorn, Jacques de Villiers swore to take the life of the one responsible for the desecration of Footman John Rossart's remains.

It was at this time that Lord Mayor Redthorn's personal guardsman, just named Knight Protector of Mistlocke by Lord Mayor Redthorn, stood forth in front of Jacques de Villiers of the Numinous Order. Lord Mayor Redthorn's personal guardsman took full responsibility for the state of Footman John Rossart's remains, Lord Mayor Redthorn's personal guard claiming that he had done this act without the knowledge of Lord Mayor Redthorn. Before the unspeaking Lord Mayor Redthorn and warriors of Mistlocke, Lord Mayor Rethorn's personal guardsman was executed by Jacques de Villiers for the desecrations visited upon the slain body of Footman John Rossart. With this execution done and the shattered pieces of Footman John Rossart's flesh, Jacques de Villiers and the Numinous Order turned and departed the hamlet of Mistlocke. The horrors visited upon the broken remains of Footman John Rossart stood as a mute reminder, there is darkness in the mortal heart. Without the guidance of truths, and laws formed from these truths, this darkness is as a blade without hilt or guard.

As the sun slipped below the horizon on 18 Hammer 1382 DR, many who stood witness to the above events questioned why Footman John Rossart acted. The cause of Footman John Rossart's acts rest with the lore of the Isle of Ymph and the King of the Isles.  This lore holds that the King of the Isles shall rise with the various powers on the Isle of Ymph, and warded by the Mist the King of the Isles and these powers shall ride against the Maiden. Yet the lore of the Isle of Ymph also speaks of the hamlet of Mistlocke, for the King of the Isles to be Crowned he must stand in the hamlet of Mistlocke with the Crown of the Isles.

Footman John Rossart held this lore of the Isle of Ymph to be truth, when Owain Aberdenn was named Heir to the Crown of the Isles Footman John Rossart felt he had no choice but to act. For the Footman believed that a Mistlocke under the rule of Lord Mayor Redthorn and House Caemryn would never allow one of Aberdenn to be proclaimed King of the Isles once the Crown of the Isles was found. It was this belief of Footman John Rossart, and the belief that for the Maiden to be broken the King of the Isles must rise with the powers of the Isle of Yphm, that lay at the heart of Footman John Rossart's acts on 18 Hammer 1382 DR.
* The Supplying of Castle Blackhearth, 18 Hammer 1382 DR
From 18 Hammer 1382 DR Castle Blackhearth of the Numinous Order on the Isle of Ymph has stood besieged by the forces of H'Bala since the year 1378 DR. To feed their warriors while they stood the watch against the minions of H'Bala, the Numinous Order signed a contract with House Caemryn of Mistlocke to supply desperately needed grain to Castle Blackhearth. As of 18 Hammer 1382 DR that contract has been broken by House Caemryn and the warriors of the Numinous Order in Castle Blackhearth are said to suffer starvation. It is believed that House Caemryn broke this contract with the Numinous Order in response for Footman John Rossart swearing his vows to the Numinous Order will still holding the Office  of Lord Mayorship of Mistlocke.

The warriors of the Numinous Order stationed at Castle Blackhearth face the horrors of H'Bala without and a death from starvation within. As of 18 Hammer 1382 DR, it is said that if Castle Blackhearth does not receive grain in the coming days its warriors will be slain from starvation and that Castle Blackhearth will fall. A doom upon the Isle of Ymph if Castle Blackhearth were to be broken, for a large portion of H'Bala's warriors are taken in the siege of Castle Blackhearth.

It is whispered that cursed relics of power have been gifted in the past to unsuspecting warriors of Mistlocke. These cursed relics are rumored to hold a power that would allow the minions of H'Bala to pierce the very Mist and lead an assault upon the hamlet of Mistlocke. An horror awaits the hamlet of Mistlocke should Castle Blackhearth fall to H'Bala and these whispers of cursed relics prove true, for if Castle Blackhearth were taken by H'Bala all the minions of H'Bala occupied in the siege of Castle Blackhearth could be directed upon the hamlet of Mistlocke. Should this come to pass, Mistlocke's stands doomed.
* The Proclamations of Knight Protector Valeria Komenos, 23 Hammer 1382 DR
Valeria Komenos, named Knight Protector of Mistlocke by Lord Mayor Redthorn, called a gathering of in the square of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph for an announcement of grave news on 23 Hammer 1382 DR. Once in the square of Mistlocke, Valeria spoke of her sworn oath as Knight Protector of Mistlocke, and that this oath is what drove her present actions. After this explanation Knight Protector Valeria proclaimed that Lord Mayor Redthorn and House Caemryn had gathered twenty thousand coins with the intent of hiring mercenaries from Count Zarono Senuspur of Old Port to support the rule of Lord Mayor Redthron in the hamlet of Mistlocke. During the uproar that followed this proclamation, a great many proclamations followed as blades for and against Lord Mayor Redthorn gathered and spoke in the square of the hamlet of Mistlocke. Below are a list of those proclamations spoken.

- A sum of twenty thousand coins had been gathered by Lord Mayor Redthorn and House Caemryn for the hiring of mercenaries from Count Zarono Senuspur of Old Port to support Lord Mayor Redthorn's rule in the hamlet of Mistlocke. It is said the Rubies of Count Zarono were to be among these mercenaries.

- One tenth of all coins gathered by the hamlet of Mistlocke's government in any given month were tithed to the coffers of House Caemryn.

- The Elders of Mistlocke whom had stood against House Caemryn had been striped of their Citizenship of the hamlet of Mistlocke and their place upon the Council of Elders of Mistlocke.

- Councilor Zarovich had purchased his seat upon the Council of Lord Mayor Redthorn with coins.

Following this uproar Harriet Thistlespike, a long time Retainer of House Caemryn and recently named Lieutenant of the Mayor's Muster, moved to the center of the square of the hamlet of Mistlocke. There Lieutenant Thistlespike indicated that the twenty thousand coins had been gathered for the hiring of mercenaries as Knight Protector Valeria had stated, however Lord Mayor Redthorn had determined instead to provide the twenty thousand coins to the Mayor's Muster. Knight Protector Valeria scoffed at these words of Lieutenant Thistlespike, the Knight Protector proclaimed that Lord Mayor Redthorn was set on the hiring of the mercenaries and only the revelations of the Knight Protector had changed such. After this was spoken by Knight Proctetor Valeria, Lieutenant Thistlespike moved to arrest the Knight Protector on the charge of treason.

As Lieutenant Thistlespike moved to arrest Knight Protector Valeria, Knight Protector Valeria drew her blade and a general melee broke forth as blades for and against Lord Mayor Redthorn brought battle to the hamlet of Mistlocke. After a time, this general melee finally dwindled to a draw as neither side was able to break the other. In the end, Knight Protector Valeria departed from Mistlocke in the company of the blades whom stood against Lord Mayor Redthorn and House Caemryn. Many of the senior warriors of the Mayor Muster's were said to have departed with Knight Protector Valeria. The events of this day make clear that the divisions in the hamlet of Mistlocke that resulted in the acts of Footman John Rossart on 18 Hammer 1382 DR remain deep and ever present.
* The Supplying of Castle Blackhearth, 25 Hammer 1382 DR
It is said that after House Caemryn voided their contract to provide grains to the besieged Castle Blackhearth of the Numinous Order on the Isle of Ymph early in Hammer 1382 DR, an agreement for the supplying of foods and grains to Castle Blackhearth from a farmland near the hamlet of Mistlocke was reached on 25 Hammer 1382 DR. This agreement between the farmlands and the Numinous Order was given after the warriors of the Numinous Order, aided by the warriors of the hamlet of Mistlocke, drove the were-boar Glorfsnout from this farmland. With this agreement for food stuffs for Castle Blackhearth, it is believed the warriors of the Numinous Order within Castle Blackhearth's walls not suffer immediate starvation. The specter of starvation has hung over the defenders of Castle Blackhearth since House Caemryn refused to honor the contract for the supplying of grains after then Lord Mayor John Rossart swore his oaths to the Numinous Order in early Hammer 1382 DR. As of 25 Hammer 1382 DR, the warriors of the Numinous Order within Castle Blackhearth focus a portion of their attention once more upon withstanding the siege of the minions of H'Bala that has lasted without respite since it began in 1378 DR. Still, the aid of a single farmland will not suffice to grant all the defenders of Castle Blackhearth's needs for food stuffs. The possibility of death by starvation remains ever present for the defenders of Castle Blackhearth as they seek to hold the hordes of the Maiden at bay.
* Declaration of Peace with the Transcendent Conclave, 26 Hammer 1382 DR
A breath was released by the warriors of Mistlocke on 26 Hammer 1382 DR when Lord Mayor Redthorn of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph announced peace with the Transcendent Conclave. With this, Lord Mayor Redthorn reversed the declaration of war against the Transcendent Conclave pronounced upon 18 Hammer 1382 DR, lifted the bounty of two thousand coins placed upon the head of every individual of the Transcendent Conclave or associated with the Transcendent Conclave, and renounced the banishment from the hamlet of Mistlocke of the individuals of the Transcendent Conclave that been instituted by  then Lord Mayor Garethn Caemryn.

As has been noted before, older texts speak of the year 1378 DR, when the Oracle of the Transcendent Conclave meet the Maiden in battle upon the Floating Enclave of the Transcendent Conclave. These texts claim that the Oracle faced the Maiden in battle and drove her back, casting the Maiden from the Floating Enclave of the Transcendent Conclave. Wisdom for Lord Mayor Redthorn to seek a peace with such a power, a peace found on 26 Hammer 1382 DR with Lord Mayor Redthorn's announcement of an end to the declaration of war upon the Transcendent Conclave.
* The Gathering of the Hosts of House Aberdenn and the Wrym Watchers, 2 Alturiak 1382 DR
It was whispered in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph that as of 2 Alturiak 1382 DR the hosts of House Aberdenn and the Wrym Watchers had begun to gather, with the intent of marching upon the hamlet of Mistlocke once the full strength was assembled. It was believed the execution of Footman John Rossart whom had been named Lord Mayor of the hamlet of Mistlocke by Owain Aberdenn, the rumors of Lord Mayor Redthorn treating with the Count of Old Port and the mercenaries of Old Port to gain warriors to enforce his rule of the hamlet of Mistlocke, and the refusal of House Caemryn to accept Owain Aberdenn as the Heir to the Crown of the Isles were the acts that drove House Aberdenn and the Wrym Watchers to assemble their hosts. Recall that the lore of the Isle of Ymph holds that for the King of the Isles to rise, he must be crowned in the hamlet of Mistlocke with the Crown of the Isles. It was thought by many that a hamlet of Mistlocke under the rule of Lord Mayor Redthorn and House Caemryn would never bow to a King of the Isles of House Aberdenn, as such the hosts of House Aberdenn and the Wrym Watchers were said to gather with the intent of taking the hamlet of Mistlocke by blade.
* The Supplying of Castle Blackhearth, 2 Alturiak 1382 DR
On 2 Alturiak 1382 DR House Caemryn once more began to honor the contract between the Numinous Order and House Caemryn for the supplying of grain to the warriors of the Numinous Order posted at Castle Blackhearth on the Isle of Ymph. It is said that House Caemryn had broken this contract between House Caemryn and the Numinous Order in early Hammer 1382 DR as a response to then Lord Mayor John Rossart swearing the oaths of the Numinous Order while still holding the Office of the Lord Mayor of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph.

It should be noted that as of Alturiak 1382 DR, Castle Blackhearth of the Numinous Order had stood besieged by the hordes of H'Bala without respite since 1378 DR. When House Caemryn refused to honor the contract to provide grain to Castle Blackhearth in Hammer 1382 DR, it is said the warriors of the Numinous Order stationed within Castle Blackhearth were twice doomed. Doomed first to stand upon the walls of Castle Blackhearth and face the undead minions of H'Bala without respite, doomed twice to suffer the horrors of starvation as the grain in the storerooms of Castle Blackhearth dwindled to naught.

It is rumored that House Caemryn only agreed to once more honor the contract between House Caemryn and the Numinous Order after whispers of the hosts of House Aberdenn and the Wrym Watchers marching upon the hamlet of Mistlocke were heard. Still, a wise act that as of Alturiak 1382 DR the warriors of the Numinous Order in Castle Blackhearth are supplied with grain once more and no longer face the specter of death by starvation. The lore of the Isle of Ymph holds that a large portion of the undead hordes of H'Bala were focused upon the siege of Castle Blackhearth that began in 1378 DR. Should Castle Blackhearth be taken and those minions of H'Bala once occupied in the siege of Castle Blackhearth be freed for other acts, a doom upon the Isle of Ymph.
* The Tournament of the Chamber of Chains, 9 Alturiak 1382 DR
The Tournament of Champions, said to have been first held in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph in Alturiak 1382 DR, was a crafting of the servant of the Red Knight known as the Squire. The Squire is said to have fashioned the Tournament of Champions, to be held once a ten day, to allow the warriors of the various powers on the Isle of Ymph to meet in the melee and test what truths they held. The lore of the Isle of Ymph holds that the Squire had proclaimed this Tournament of Champions in the hamlet of Mistlocke twice prior to 9 Alturiak 1382 DR. It was said that the keepers of the Sanitorium of the Old Stones on the Isle of Ymph had reached an accord with the Squire to host the Tournament of Champions in the Sanitorium's Chamber of Chains on 9 Alturiak 1382 DR.

Of the Sanitarium of the Old Stones, little was known for certain prior to 9 Alturiak 1382 DR. Those of the Sanitorium claimed to stand as healers sworn to the service of the Crying God, yet other lore of the Isle of Ymph whispered of ill acts performed by those of the Sanitorium. As the dusk fell upon the hamlet of Mislocke on 9 Alturiak 1382 DR, there was little doubt left as to the nature of the Sanitorium of the Old Stones for much had been revealed at the Tournament of Champions held by the Sanitorium of the Old Stones.

It is said that an announcement was given on 9 Alturiak 1382 DR calling all whom wished to participate in the Tournament of Champion to gather near an entrance to the Old Stones. After all had gathered, the warriors of the Isle of Ymph were lead by those of the Sanitarium through the darkened passages of the Old Stones into the Chamber of Chains of the Sanitorium. Once gathered there, the Squire began to speak of how the Tournament of Champions was to be organized as the various warriors of the Isle of Ymph settled across the Chamber of Chains. As the Squire spoke, one of the Sanitorium moved near the Squire and began a hushed conversation with the Squire. The words of this conversation are unknown, however the content of this conversation can be assumed given what was to follow. At the conclusion of these whispered words from the one of the Sanitorium, the Squire announced at once to the gathered warriors that the Squire would take no further part in the Tournament of Champions hosted by the Sanitorium and all were advised to leave at once.

Upon this proclamation of the Squire, as the various warriors of the Isle of Ymph began to gather themselves to depart the Chamber of Chains, a shaking was felt throughout the Chamber of Chains and a portion of the truths of the Sanitorium were revealed.  For those of the Sanitorium announced that the shaking felt was the falling of the rocks of the Old Stones sealing the exits from the Chamber of Chains, all whom were in the Chamber of Chains were trapped and no longer free to depart. It was further stated by those of the Sanitorium that any whom wished to regain their freedom would be forced to enter into a bout of the melee to the death against another in the Chamber of Chains. Those whom gained victory would hold the right to grant freedom to themselves, grant freedom to another, or accept a boon from the hands of the Sanitorium. Upon hearing this, the warriors of the Isle of Ymph initially refused to accept such and sought to break their way through the rocks blocking the exits from the Chamber of Chains of the Sanitorium. These efforts, as with almost all mortal efforts, failed and the warriors of the Isle of Ymph were forced to accept the terms forced upon them by those of the Sanitorium.

One by one, the melees were held as various warriors of the Isle of Ymph gained their freedom or were slain upon the blades of the victors. However these melees were not things of blades alone, for as the warriors of the Isle of Ymph battled flames and blades sprang forth from the stones beneath their feet. Seemings of creatures or individuals of importance to those gathered began to appear throughout these tests of the melee as well. Though these seemings were often of creatures fallen or of the impossible, yet their bite or blade still cut the flesh of those in the melee and those forced to watch. In the end, and only after a number of the warriors of the Isle of Ymph lay slain upon the floor of the Chamber of Chains, one of these seemings moved upon the fallen earth blocking the exit to the Chamber of Chains and beat upon it till the earth was cleared from the exit. At this the warriors of the Isle of Ymph fled from the Chamber of Chains and the Sanitorium, seeking their freedom in the hamlet of Mistlocke once more.

For many, their thoughts rested only upon the horror of the Chamber of Chains and the Sanitorium. Still the acts of those of the Sanitorium were not without purpose, an ill purpose yes, but a purpose none the less. From the initial gathering of the warriors of the Isle of Ymph for the Tournament of Champions in the Sanitarium to the final flight by the warriors of the Isle of Ymph from the Chamber of Chains, it was clear those whom rule the Sanitorium were toying with the warriors of the Isle of Ymph as a feline might toy with a mouse. The forced duels to the death, the seemings that held meaning to those trapped in the Chamber of Chains, and even the final seeming allowing those trapped to flee for their freedom were all acts of those of power gaining amusement from those held in their power. There is a revelation of truth in this, the claims of those of the Sanitorium that they serve the Crying God are falsehoods.
* Release of H'Bala, 23 Hammer 1377 DR
The release of H'Bala is said to have taken place on the Isle of Ympth on the 23rd of Hammer of the Year One Thousand Three Hundred and Seventy Seven by Dale Reckoning. H'Bala was released as a direct result of an attempt at her destruction by the druidics of the Isle of Ymph. The lore of the Isle of Ympth holds that Leged of the Ancients was the one whom lead the druidics in their efforts to shatter H'Bala. Given the results of the release of H'Bala, mainly the Withering of the Isles, many of the Isle's current residents curse the pride of Leged and the druidics and question why they could not have simple left H'Bala imprisoned. Other lore suggests however, that the hand of the druidics may have been forced.

It is rumored that the enchantments imprisoning H'Bala were weakening under the strain of her arcane might. That some portion of H'Bala's power was slipping free from her cage. A condition that would have only worsened with time. As a result, the druidics gathered their numbers and their allies and sought to destroy H'Bala once and for all. Of this host of warriors, Leged is said to have selected eleven other warriors to join him and face H'Bala. The exact nature of the battle between the twelve and H'Bala are unknown. What is clear, is that the efforts of the druidics failed. H'Bala was released instead, and the bodies of the fallen twelve were twisted into the Agony of the Hunt. With her release H'Bala cast the Withering upon the Shrouded Isles and spread her blight over much of the Isle of Ymph. A doom upon us all.
* The Second Shrouding, 1378 DR to 1380 DR
The Mist is said to have risen in the year 1378 DR, following the release of H'Bala on 23 Hammer 1377 DR, to cover all the Isles of the Shrouded Isles in the Second Shrouding of the Shrouded Isles. During this Second Shrouding, all within the warding of the Mist were shielded from the Withering and the minions of H'Bala by the Mist.
* Auld Wrym's Hearth
Hidden deep in the Forgotten Forrest of the Isle of Ymph, stands the Auld Wyrm's Hearth of the Wrym Watchers. Fashioned as a King's Tower, the Auld Wrym's Hearth is home to the Elders of the Wrym Watchers and serves as a gathering place for all of the Wrym Watchers. The Auld Wrym's Hearth is said to serve as the bastion of the Wrym Watchers upon the Isle of Ymph.
* Castle Blackhearth
A fortress of the Numinous Order, Castle Blackhearth is said to stand upon the Lake of Mist near the woodlands known as the "Webbed Woods" on the Isle of Ymph. Castle Blackhearth is believed to serve as the main gathering place for those of the Numinous Order on the Isle of Ymph. The lore of the Isle of Ymph holds that Castle Blackhearth was gained by the Numinous Order in 1375 DR following the victory of Colony of the Isle of Ymph over the orcan tribes of the Isle of Ymph in the war of 1375 DR between the two powers known as the Red Eleint. As of Alturiak 1382 DR, Castle Blackhearth and the warriors of the Numinous Order stationed in the Castle have stood besieged by the undead hordes of H'Bala since 1378 DR.
* Isle of Ymph
The largest of the Shrouded Isles, the Isle of Ymph was named for the Netherese explorer Zephulot Ymph. Considered by many to be the most important of the Shrouded Isles, it is on the Isle of Ymph that much of the Shrouded Isle's lore rests.
* Mistlocke
A hamlet located deep in the Mist covered forest of the Isle of Ymph, safe from the ravages of the Withering. Consisting of perhaps some five hundred souls, the hamlet of Mistlocke has several strange land marks of importance. The the Fox's Dell, Last Keep, the Old Stones, and the Tablet of Stone are merely the most important of these. The exact age of Mistlocke is currently unknown, however it's importance in the history of the Shrouded Isles can not be understated. First, it is said to be the location where the true King of the Isles must be crowned with the Crown of the Isles. Second, it is the haven of those dragged to the Isle of Ymph by the arcane artifact known as the Ziggurat of Nebezzdos.

Mistlocke is governed by a Lord Mayor, elected by the popular vote of the residents of Mistlocke, whose statutes are upheld by the Mayor's Muster. In addition to the Mayor's Muster, several other factions and organizations are present in Mistlocke. Chief among these are the Numinous Order,  House Aberdenn, the Transcendent Conclave, House Caermyn, and the Argenti gypsies. As of 1381 DR, Mistlocke recent history was one of internal disorder and a lack of unity. A history replete with incompetent or fraudulent Lord Mayors and rebellion. These internal matters are brought into sharp focus when one considers the external dangers present upon Ymph, the Withering and the Maiden being the greatest of these. It brings to mind the question of how long a small and divided hamlet can last when faced the terrors of Ymph.
* Murdertown
Located upon the edges of the ancient Nebezzdos on the Isle of Ymph, rests Mudertown. It's people are the raged survivors of the Isle of Ymph, half mad and drawing every breath in a drugged haze. It is a place of cruelty and horror, of children weeping before the tortured bodies of their parents as they themselves are dragged off on a slaver's leash. A place of shattered souls and broken bodies.

For Mudertown is thrice cursed, of these three curses two are related to the location of Murdertown. The first of the curses is that Murdertown rests outside of the protection of the Mist, it's people remain unwarded from the horrors of the Withering. The second of curses is that Mudertown  sits upon the very edge of Nebezzdos, the Nightrisen of Nebezzdos are intolerant of the living upon their door step and beat at the defenders of Murdertown almost nightly. The third and final of curses of Mudertown is the most potent, for Mudertown is well named. It is ruled by the Psychopomp Father Michael, a priest of the very Prince of Lies. It is this third and final doom that has truly turned Mudertown into a place of horrors, for what strength can a people have when they are faced with the trials of Yphm without and cancer of the insanse withhin.
* Nebezzdos
An ancient citadel founded by the Netherese explorer Zephulot Ymph upon the Isle of Yphm. The founding of Nebezzdos is dated to - 716 DR, or seven hundred and sixteen years before the Dale Reckoning system began. From it's founding in - 716 DR to the present year of 1382 DR, Nebezzdos has remained the fortress of the Netherese upon the Isle of Ymph. The only contest to this reign was from the years 1375 DR to 1378 DR, when the Colony of Ymph was briefly founded in the ancient streets of Nebezzdos. With the fall of the Colony to the Nightrisen in 1378 DR, Nebezzdos was once more the sole domain of the Netherese.
* Old Port
Located upon one of the Shrouded Isles near the Isle of Ymph, it is the domain of Count Sensurpur.
* The Ancient Quarry
Hidden at the base of ascent to the Forgotten Foot Hills of the Isle of Ymph, sits a small path leading to a ancient and forgotten quarry. The hills are laid bare, the marks of tools upon them. From the crumbling parchment and wooden sings found at the quarry, it speaks of a Lord raising a Keep deep in the forest of Ymph. The year given for the quarry, and presumable the construction of the Keep, is 685 CR. The manner of how this year relates to Dale Reckoning is unknown.
* The Delving
A dwarven hold upon the Isle of Ymph, the Delving is under rule of Thane Thronur Ur-Azghal the Longbeard. The hold is burrowed deep in solid rock on the slopes of the Forgotten Foot Hills of the Isle of Ymph, shielded by the Mist. Dwarven lore holds that Thane Thronur of the Delving has lived over four hundred turnings of the seaons.
* The Floating Enclave
A massive structure suspended by arcane energies above the sands of the desert of the Isle of Ymph. The Floating Enclave serves as the home of New Netheril and the Transcendent Conclave. Visitors to the Floating Enclave can not help but be struck by arcane skill required to levitate so massive a structure. Second upon this observation is the clear fact that the Floating Enclave has been damaged by some horrific force. It is said that this damage was caused with the Floating Enclave and it's residents faced H'Bala herself in open conflict. That as H'Bala was driven from the Floating Enclave, she cast a final arcane assault of unimaginable power. Regardless, it is should be noted that the defenses of the Floating Enclave remain empowered and potent.
* The Fox's Dell
A network of tunnels that run the earth of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph, a fey power holds sway in the Fox's Dell. Under entering any warding of the arcane is striped from ones body, while inside neither portion nor spell nor prayer will call forth aid. To enter the Fox's Dell is to be cut off from all aspects of the arcane or the divine.
* The Lake of Mist

* The Last Keep
The ancient fortress that rests at the center of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. It is in the Last Keep that the office of the Lord Mayor of Mistlocke and the barracks of the Mayor's Muster are found. By what hands the Last Keep was constructed is unknown, it is said however that the Last Keep was built to shield the survivors from the End.
* The Old Stones
The Old Stones stand as a mystery of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph, held in it's ancient halls are question upon question with little known. What is known is that curse lies upon the Old Stones. Within the hall's of the Old Stones flame and spell light are swallowed after but a few paces, and within this darkness unknown things are said to stalk those whom enter.
* The Shrouded Isles
Located in uncharted waters, there rests a collection of Isles known as the Shrouded Isles. Of these, the Isle of Ymph is by far the largest. It is on the Isle of Ymph that the hamet of Mistlocke and the ancient Netheril city of Nebezzdos rest. In addition to the Isle of Ymph; the Isle holding Old Port, the Blighted Isle, and the Seven Deaths form the Shrouded Isles.
* The Tower of Mercy
The Tower of Mercy stands in Nebezzdos, a Netherese settlement, on the Isle of Ymph. The inscriptions inside the tower reveal that it was constructed by one Praxis Rijoritixe, a presumed crafter of the Netherese. The intended function of this Tower of Mercy is given by these inscriptions as well, to hold the most dangerous of Netherese prisoners for eternity. A place where the prisoners may continue to practice whatever craft they will, walled off from the rest of the Realms. A curious mercy, giving the Tower its name.

Given that the founding of Nebezzdos was over two thousand years prior to the present year of 1382 DR, one may be forgiven for assuming the Tower of Mercy is no more than a ruin. This assumption is in error, the Tower continues to serve its purpose. To enter into the Tower of Mercy is to accept that one may come face to face with some of the most potent of Netherese arcanists, many whose grasp of the arcane has extended their lives to this present day. The guardians of the Tower of Mercy remain present as well. These guardians are a mixture of arcane defenses, the Nightrisen, and the Dayrisen. These defenses and the care of the prisoners of the Tower of Mercy is said to fall under the authority of Sub Warden Ghula Yaggzahar, known as the Watchful Mother.

The Tower of Mercy seems a strange thing when one considers the effort inherent in the construction of such a place, or the duty required of guardians whom stand watch over their undying charges to this very day. Would it not be far simpler to execute those deemed so dangerous to your society? It would, yet there is subtle but profound wisdom to be found in the Tower of Mercy. Two truths, emerge from the study of it. First, that there is darkness in the mortal heart and to allow it to flower unguided is the path to horror. To spend but an hour in the Tower of Mercy, to see the remains or living forms of the captives in the Tower is to know the darkness for a truth.

Second, the Tower of Mercy reveals the reasoned response to the understanding that there is darkness in a mortal heart. The acceptance that this darkness exists and can not be ignored, rather the inner self must be guided. Consider this, the Tower of Mercy allows the confined to practice whatever art or actions they wish so long as they remain confined. It's prisoners gain the freedom to pursue any destructive path their insane minds wish while in their cells, but in return they loose all else. An eternal torture of the mind, one that would prove a potent binding to others whom may wish to allow their inner selves to rage without thought or order.
* The Ziggurat
Constructed by the Netherese, the Ziggurat is a massive stone pyramid found near the center of Nebezzdos upon the Isle of Ymph. It's arcane energies have the ability to craft a portal capable of instantly transporting an individual from anywhere in the Realms to the top of the Ziggurat in an instant. The Ziggurat has been active for some time and is believed to be malfunctioning, it is transporting apparently random individuals from throughout the Realms to the top on the Ziggurat on the Isle of Ymph.

9. Races:
* Illithid, Mindflayer
The Illithids, also known as Mindflayers, are said to be a fearsome race whom reside in the Underdark. Ysionde is believed to be an Illithid settlement located near Dunwarren in the Underdark. Lore concerning the social structure of the Illithid in general and Ysionde in particular is scarce, however it is believed that the "Elder Brain" is the leading Illithid of Ysinode.

The Illithid are known to feed by physically consuming the mind of their prey, it is from this act that the name Mindflayer is derived. In appearance, the Illithid are said to be tall and humanoid. Their skin is a grayish color, with a grouping of tentacles that grow from their lower face. Terrifying powers of the mind are attributed to the Illithid, even the ability to manipulate another mortal's perception of reality itself. In battle, documents claim the Illithid are capable of slamming a foe to the ground with the force of their mind alone. These mental abilities of the Illithid are combined with reports of Illithids' casting powerful arcane wards, and the use of mental enslavement on creatures whom are then made to serve the Illithid.

Indeed, during the Fall of Sanctuary it is said that Illithid were so powerful to as to enslave the draconic Etorix and bend the very will of Etorix to the Illithids' desires. This ability of mental enslavement was reported as the most subtle and effective of the Illithids' abilities. It is believed that the Illithid gravely weakened Sanctuary, just prior to the Fall of Sanctuary, through the use of thralls. Thralls were said to be mortals "implanted" so that the Illithid may control and observe their every action, from the context of the documents concerning the Fall of Sanctuary a mortal taken into thralldom was extremely difficult to detect. The records of the Fall of Sanctuary speak of these thralls spreading through every layer of Sanctuary's society, with the actions of these thralls aiding in the doom and eventual Fall of Sanctuary.
* Lycanthrope

* Stargazers
The Stargazers of the Shrouded Isles, or Starchildren, are a form of halflings. It is believed that the Stargazers were the first inhabitants of the Shrouded Isles, though how and when they came to arrive on the Shrouded Isles is unknown. The Stargazers are divided in thirteen tribes, each with it's own animalistic totem, together these tribes form the Zodiac of the Stargazers. The rulers among the Stargazers' tribes are known as the Elders. It is said the Stargazers' follow the Old Ways, the source texts suggest these Old Ways are focused upon the natural word and the study of the stars in the night skies. In addition to this, all Stargazers are said to venerate the great cats of the Isle of Ymph, granting these felines a status normally reserved for the divine in other races.

10. Organizations:
* House Aberdenn
"Locked in Cold Mist, We Endure"

The Hall of House Aberdenn stands in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph, and House Aberdenn is believed to have been present in Mistlocke since the founding of the hamlet.  The House serves as the hunters and game wardens of the forrest surrounding Mistlocke. Aberdenn spears are the ones charged with bringing back wild game to feed the hungry of Mistlocke, they also stand charged with the slaying of vile monsters that slip into the forests about Mistlocke. The House is comprised of the blood of Aberdenn supported by the Bannerman, Man at Arms, and Knights of House Aberdenn with the Stag as the crest of the House. Honor and selflessness are said to be the highest values of House Aberdenn, one seeking to gain favor or advancement in the House is required to have these qualities above all others. Beyond this, it should be noted that House Aberdenn and House Caermyn remain in a long standing feud over which of their two Houses founded Mistlocke.
Jane Belleville

* House Caermyn
"The Crow Sees"

Centered on their Estate in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph, House Caermyn is said to have been present in Mistlocke since it's very foundation. The House serves as the merchants of Mistlocke, brining grain and supplies into the small and isolated hamlet. The House is lead by Ealdoreman Menaster Caerymn, with his children forming the leadership of the House. Below these are the retainers of the House, followed by the associates of the House. The House's associates are divided into three classes. Smugglers, merchants, and mercenaries. It should be noted that according to House Caermyn, the smugglers of the House are ones that smuggle goods -into- Mistlocke, as opposed to illegal substances. Advancement in the House is said to be based upon accomplishment and ability alone. A final note of importance, the House Caermyn and House Aberdenn are engaged in a long standing feud over which House was the true founder of Mistlocke.

- The Honored Fallen of House Caemryn:
Alfred Thenson

* House Durjure
Founded upon the Isle of Ymph, the legends of House Durjure hold that they have been seekers of lore and legend as opposed to wielders of blade and spell. Indeed, it is rumored they were once servants of a draconic of copper. It is said that House Durjure would grant this copper draconic lore and legend in return from treasures from it's horde. The very treasures that House Durjure is believed to have used to purchase their nobility from Old Port. Once the title of nobility had been granted in Old Port, House Durjure is believed to have resettled in Old Port and remained there for a great deal of time. After the events of the Queen's War and House Durjure's support for the failed Queen Ixpadia, the House was forced to relocate once more to the Isle of Ymph by Count Senuspur of Old Port. Of the House's fate after the fall of the Colony on the Isle of Ymph, little is known. It is believed that Jerziah Durjure is the House's last surviving member, though his whereabouts are unknown.
* New Netheril
"For The Glory of Netheril That Was, And The Golden Age to Come"

Centered on the Floating Enclave of the Transcendent Conclave in the desert of the Isle of Ymph, New Netheril is said to be formed of individuals from all walks of life. They are bound together through pursuit of knowledge, both arcane and otherwise, in an effort to stand against those who would pervert the arcane art. Both wielders of the arcane and those without arcane talents find haven in New Netheril. It should be noted that the Transcendent Conclave is a portion of New Netheril, but not entirety.
* The Dayrisen
The living guardians of Nebezzdos on the Isle of Ymph, the Dayrisen are said to be the still living Netherese whom reside in Nebezzdos. Sightings of Dayrisen are rare, though they are known to stand as guardians in the Tower of Mercy. Indeed, no child or families of Dayrisen have ever been reported. Given the above, it is believed that the Dayrisen may rest in some form of enchanted slumber until they are needed. How this preserves their living bodies is unclear. It is believed the Dayrisen fall under the authority of the Warden Lotheri Sanq, ruler of Nebezzdos.
* The Gilded Arrows
"Guts, Gold, Glory"

A mercenary company founded and based in the hamlet of Mistlocke upon the Isle of Ymph. The Gilded Arrows were formed by Captain Midah Resher around Marpenoth 1381 DR in Mistlocke. From the time of the forming of the Gilded Arrows to their disbanding on 6 Alturiak 1382 DR, the Gilded Arrows grew in influence and numbers under the command of Captain Resher. At the time of their disbanding in Alturiak 1382 DR, the Gilded Arrows comprised a large portion of the warriors of Mistlocke and stood dedicated to the hamlet's defense.

The saying of the Gilded Arrows, "Guts, Gold, Glory", served as an accurate representation of the Gilded Arrows' beliefs. These mercenaries were said to accept contracts of great danger, so long as the terms or results of these contracts did not endanger Mistlocke. Among their many deeds, the Gilded Arrows are known for the slaying of the draconic of the white Apipolethiraxos on 5 Hammer 1382 DR. Beyond these deeds and contracts, the Gilded Arrows were charged with the warding of Mistlocke in conjunction with the Mayor's Muster by decree of Lord Mayor Redthron on 15 Hammer 1382 DR. Following this decree of Lord Mayor Redthorn the Mayor's Muster and the Gilded Arrows both stood under the command of Captain Midan Resher, the Lord Captain of Mistlocke. Upon the disbanding of the Gilded Arrows on 6 Alturiak 1382 DR, those whom had stood in the Gilded Arrows took their place in the Mayor's Muster under the command of Lord Captain Resher.
* The Guardians of the Arc and the Circle of Ymph
The Guardians are the unknown wardens of the Isle of Ymph. Believed to be composed of druidics and wild walkers, they are said to be sworn to the protection of the balance and the natural world. Little is known of these Guardians and their charge.
* The Nightrisen
Solemn Oath of the Nightrisers: Duty of the Bound

"We, the guards and soldiers of the City that nurtures and shelters us, do solemnly offer ourself up to the highest bound duties of service, and willingly seek entrance into the Nightrisers.

We seek this unsleeping service to defend when others can not, to protect where others will not. We are the Nightrisers, and great is our duty, serious our purpose. We wish to defend the living, we who are not.

We commend ourselves to this service, the lessons of Porenius Herasus, the endless service that awaits. May the city never fall."

The undead guardians of Nebezzdos on the Isle of Ymph, the Nightrisen are known to be intolerant of any individual who attempts to enter Nebezzdos. It is believed the Nightrisen were animated from the willing Netherese residents of Nebezzdos shortly after the Fall of the Netheril Empire. The lore concerning the Nightrisen indicates that the Netherese necromancer Porenius Herasus, or "Po", is the one whom is responsible for their animation. The reason for the creation of the Nightrisen, and the willingness for the Netherese residents to agree to such, is a matter of some debate. The Tome of the Isle speculates that the Nightrisen were created to serve as eternal guardians for the Netherese prisoners held in Nebezzdos. However other lore indicates that the Nightrisen were crafted in response to the emergence of the Larvals, creatures said to be capable of invading and controlling a living body.

Regardless of the reasons for their creation, the Nightrisen continue to serve as the guardians of Nebezzdos as of 1382 DR. They are said to be under the command of Lotheri Sanq, Warden and Imperator of Nebezzdos. There are three points of interest to be noted concerning the Nightrisen. First, as noted above, the Nightrisen continue to serve as guardians of Nebezzdos and are intolerant of any whom seek to enter that ancient city.  Second, it is known that the Nightrisen are unable to stand the touch of sunlight. If exposed to the light of day, they collapse onto the ground. Third, it is believed that there are at least two factions of the Nightrisen though both are thought to remain under the authority of the Warden Lotheri Sanq. Those whom are sworn to Jergal and those whom are sworn to Targus. Encounters with the Targian Nightrisen are reported to always end in violence, while the Jergalie Nightrisen insist any whom are living leave Nebezzdos but are less quick to resort to violence.
* The Numinous Order
"So Save Us, The Three"

A religious order found on the Shrouded Isles, the Numinous Order is sworn to the deities known as the Three and One. In addition to Three and One, the Numinous Order is known to revere the Mist of the Shrouded Isles. The Three are the Risen, the Unbroken, and the Dead. The One is the Dreamer. Those more familiar with the faiths of the mainlands would name these deities the Triad and Helm. The Risen is Torm, the Unbroken is Tyr, the Dead is Ilmater, and the Dreamer is Helm. It is important to note there are differences in the between the faiths of the Three and One versus the Triad and Helm. The Order claims that that their faiths are the true ones, heretics fleeing to the mainlands in ancient times are the ones who perverted the worship of the Three in One into the Triad and Helm.

The stated purpose of the Order is to prevent the destruction of all, or the End. They take on this duty so that humanity, the favored sons on the Unbroken may thrive. The Order also states that only when the Isle of Ymph stands united under the faith of the Three in One will the End be averted. From the known history of the Isle of Yphm it is clear that a lack of unity has doomed the Isle to tragedy time after time. Adherence by all to the dogma of the Order and it's resulting rigid code of honor would provide the unity lacking in the history of the Shrouded Isles. What is unknown is if so many from such different backgrounds can be bent to the Order's code, or if this code will be capable of facing all the terrors that the Isle of Ymph holds.

"No Pay, No Expectations"

The guardians of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph, the Mayor's Muster are unpaid and filled by volunteer alone. They stand charged with the defense of Mistlocke and the upholding of the laws of Mistlocke. In structure the Mayor's Muster falls under the command of a Captain, whom in turns falls under the rule of the Lord Mayor of Mistlocke. To understand the Mayor's Muster is to understand that they resemble far more the militia of a small village rather than hardened warriors.
* The Rubies
The secretive informants and assassins in service to Count Senuspur of Old Port. The Rubies are rumored to be everywhere, watching and performing the bidding of the Count.
* The Transcendent Conclave
"For The Glory of Netheril That Was, And The Golden Age to Come"

A organization of arcane wielders and their supporters on the Isle of Ymph. It is believed that the Transcendent Conclave holds the most powerful, living wielders of the arcane art upon the Isle of Ymph. Their view of the arcane is one of neutrality. The arcane is neither inherently good nor foul. It is a tool or method, the use this tool is put to determines it's morality. The center of the Transcendent Conclave's power is the Floating Enclave, located in the desert of the Isle of Ymph. The Transcendent Conclave exists under the leadership of the Oracle Razul and the Triumvirate. It should also be noted that the Transcendent Conclave is a part of New Netheril.
* The Wrym Watchers
"Lost in the Woods, We Watch"

A collection of individuals on the Isle of Ymph sworn to seek the King of the Isles, and stand watch on the Isle of Ymph until the return of the King of the Isles. The lore of the Wrym Watchers hold that they once served as guardians and scouts to the royals of Old Port. It is from the King's Towers, the towers scattered about the forrest of Ymph, the Wrym Watchers were said to have conducted these duties. During this service to the royals of Old Port, the Wrym Watchers were said to be comprised of almost solely members of the Argenti family.

However, as the royals of Old Port fell to internal struggles over whom would wield power, the Wrym Watchers drew further and further apart from Old Port. In time, the Wrym Watchers broke entirely from Old Port and began to carve their own path in the forests of Ymph. This break did not come without a price, however. A portion of the Wrym Watchers derided the rest and split from them. The descendants of these derisive individuals are the Argenti gypsies whom reside in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph as of the year 1382 DR. The descendants of the remaining Wrym Watchers, and those whom have joined their cause, are the ones still known as Wrym Watchers as of 1382 DR. It is said the Wrym Watchers seek the lore of the King of the Isles, and continue their watch upon the Isle of Ymph.

The Count of Old Port, Zarono Senuspur gained the throne of Old Port upon the conclusion of the War of Succession. The Count is said to be of an indirect line to House Senuspur, the direct Heir of House Sensurpur having been lost during the War of Succession. The rule of Count Senuspur over Old Port and the Isle it sits upon is said to be of an iron hand, aided by the Count's cadre of Rubies whom are rumored to always be watching.
* H'Bala, The Maiden
"Seven Daughters, Seven Sons. Seven Seasons, 'ere She Comes. Seven Tidings, Fear and Dread. None Dare Walk Where the Maiden Treads."

Once a Magi of Netheril known as Shylae Jabbanased or The Betrayer, H'Bala was imprisoned in Nebezzdos for an unknown crime during the Netheril rule of Ymph. This imprisonment is believed to have been in the Tower of Mercy, located within Nebezzdos upon the Isle of Ymph. H'Bala is said to have escaped, while still human, and traveled to the druidics of the Isle on the Blighted Isle. The legends indicate H'Bala learned the secrets of the druidics and turned these secrets against them,  turning the Blighted Isle into it's present cursed form. At some point during this time, H'Bala turned from the Netheril woman Shylae into the Lichess H'Bala. In response to all of this, a Stargazer is said to have imprisoned H'Bala through some unknown means.

H'Bala remained imprisoned for untold years until the age of the Colony on Ymph. It was believed then that her prison was starting to weaken under the strain of holding her arcane power. In response to this, a group of druidics gathered and entered H'Bala's prison in an effort to destroy her on 23 Hammer 1377 DR. During this attempt, the Maiden was mistakenly released instead. The druidics who sought to destroy her were slain, and their bodies formed into the Agony of the Hunt. With her release H'Bala placed the Withering upon the Shrouded Isles and crafted an host of the undead in an effort to turn all of the Shrouded Isles to a state of undeath.

The reason for H'Bala acts are unknown. Rage, vengeance, or a lack of concern for anything save power; none know. However, if the reason for actions remain unknown, what is clear are the results of her release. For upon her release, H'Bala cast the Withering upon the Shrouded Isles. A dire lesson for those that read these pages. To fail is the mortal condition, it is only hubris that would claim otherwise. When attempting great actions with consequences, the wise seek a power needed to ensure mortal frailty will not bring a doom.
* The King of the Isles
The rightful ruler of the Shrouded Isles according to the legends and lore of the Isle of Ymph. For the King of the Isles to be be proclaimed, he must be crowned with the Crown of the Isles inside the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. On 18 Hammer 1382 DR Owain Aberdenn, a youth in his second decade as of 1382 DR, was named Heir to the Crown of the Isles in the hamlet of Mistlocke on Isle of Ymph by the Wrym Watchers and House Aberdenn.
* The Physcopomp Father Michael the Pauper
A servant of the Prince of Lies, the Physcopomp rules the settlement known as Murdertown which is located near Nebezzdos on the Isle of Ymph. Under the watchful eyes of the Physcopomp, tortures and atrocities fit to break even the hardest of hearts occur daily. It is said that those who reside in Murdertown drown themselves in a drugged haze or drink induced stupor, their only means of survival as they witness horrors beyond their imaginations with every waking moment. If every one questioned the need for the rule of law in mortal society, one must look no further than the atrocities unleashed by the unbridled insanities of Physocpomp Father Michael the Pauper.

A horror of the Isle of Ymph, the Agony of the Hunt is formed from the slain bodies of the druidics who attempted to destroy H'Bala on 23 Hammer 1377 DR but released her instead. It is said their souls are trapped in the dead flesh, held in a tortured existence. The Agony is reported to be of immense power, capable of destroying hundreds as it roams the Isle of Ymph. Arcane and divine powers are said to simple fail when directed against the Agony, and for a blade to pierce it's hide requires the most powerful of enchantments. It is believed that the Agony is unable to enter the Mist, that the power of the Mist hold's it at bay. Regardless, the Agony remains a living proof of the price of failure.
* The Circle of the Stones of Mistlocke
The Circle of Stones is a circle of twelve stone arches that stands near the Last Keep in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. Cut into each of these stone arches is an engraving of one of the animals listed below. It is said that these are the representation of the Zodiac of the Stargazers, the tribes of the Stargazer and the animalistic totem that each individual tribe holds.
Bear

Jaguar

Parrot

* The Crown of the Isle
Said to be the most powerful of relics on the Isle of Ymph, the Crown of the Isles is reported to proclaim it's wearer as the rightful ruler of the Shrouded Isles. The lore of the Isle of Ymph holds that to be proclaimed the rightful King of the Shrouded Isle, one must be crowned with the Crown of the Isle in the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. Beyond this, the Crown of the Isles is also said to hold power over the Mist of the Shrouded Isles. That the Crown of the Isles grant it's wearer unlimited foresight, but in return to strip away any concept of the present. A glimmer of wisdom is to be found in this, to know all is to know nothing.
* The End
The name given by the Numinous Order to the destruction of all life. The implication is that this End will begin upon the Shrouded Isles and then encompass all the known Realms. The exact nature of the End is either unknown or unspoken, however some of the horrors suffered by the people of the Isle of Ymph prior to 1382 DR are named as portends of the End by the Numinous Order. These horrors include the freeing of the Maiden and her cursing of the Isle of Ymph with the Withering.
* The Lottery
The tradition by which the residents of the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph determine a Champion from among their ranks to face the Mist. The nature of what the Champion faces, indeed even how the Champion is prepared is unknown. No Champion, save one, has been seen again after they have faced the Mist. The one Champion to return, Rannie Marrison, disappeared into the wilds of the Isle shortly after her return from the Mist. The holding of the Lottery is the most sacred duty of the Lord Mayor of Mistlocke, the Lottery occurring when the Mist lays heavy on the hamlet of Mistlocke.

In function, the Lottery is handled exactly as it's name implies. The name of every resident of Mistlocke is entered, and from these names the Champion is drawn. The Champion is taken to the Last Keep at once, and there prepared to face the Mist on behalf of Mistlocke.  As mentioned above, little is known of these events. What is well documented is the amount of dissension the practice of the Lottery has generated with certain groups within Mistlocke. Often are the calls to stop what these dissenters term "mortal sacrifice", or to accept a volunteer instead of the random chance of the Lottery. The events of The Lottery of 28 Nightal 1381 DR, revealed the dangers of turning from the tradition of the Lottery. No volunteer will be accepted by the Mist, once chosen Champion that individual and that individual alone may represent Mistlocke. To fail in the Lottery is to accept that Mistlocke will no longer be warded by the Mist, and subject to the horrors of the Maiden and her Withering. As for those who maintain it is "mortal sacrifice" and vile, nothing is without cost. As with all things, the warding of the Mist comes at a price. This price of the Champion is much as the protection of Mistlocke from more mundane threats, such as the orcan kind, may come at the price of the lives of Mistlocke's warriors.
* The Mist
A strange relic of the Shrouded Isles. In visible form, it is as mist in any other land yet upon  the Shrouded Isles the Mist is no ordinary thing. The Mist currently only covers portions of the Isle of Ymph and is known to grant visions to residents of the Isle. Indeed, many deposited upon the Isle of Yphm via the ancient arcane artifact known as the Ziggurat have traveled through the Mist to reach Mistlocke, shielded deep in the Mist in the Forgotten Forrest of the Isle of Ymph. The importance of this location is revealed by another property of the Mist. The Mist has the ability to block the Withering of the Maiden, though there is a matter of the cost for such. When the Mist thickens, the hamlet of Mistlocke nominates a Champion of the Mist from their ranks with the tradition of the Lottery. What becomes of this Champion is unknown, they are never seen from again. A reminder that nothing is without cost, least of all safety.

It is said that following the release of H'Bala 23 Hammer 1377 DR on the Isle of Ymph, the Mist rose in response and shrouded the Isles to Old Port itself in the Second Shrouding. The Second Shrouding is believed to have lasted from 1378 DR to 1380 DR. The Mist warding all from the Withering and the the creations of H'Bala. However, this warding did not come without a price. The Maiden has been locked in a bitter struggle with the Mist, slowly forcing the Mist back. As of the year 1831 DR, the Mist has been forced from Old Port and portions of the Isle of Yphm. The forests spreading out from Mistlocke alone remain sheltered within the Mist.

It is believed this is in part a reason for the tradition of the Lottery of Mistlocke, that the Mist requires the living essence of those it shelters to replenish itself in it's struggle against H'Bala. A struggle it is loosing based upon the above observations. Some believe that the Mist may last no more than a year or two from the year of 1381 DR, that the Mist knows failure is upon it. These individuals hold that Mist is seeking those whom will face H'Bala and seek her destruction, that the Mist is becoming desperate as it is driven back.
* The Tablet of Stone
An ancient tablet of stone laying directly behind the main entrance to the hamlet of Mistlocke on the Isle of Ymph. It is said that on this Tablet are recorded the most ancient of prophecies, scoured into the very stone so that they would never be forgotten.
A Face Dripping With Tentacles

An Armada of Ships at Sail

A Burning Forrest

* The Withering
The affliction cast by H'Bala upon the Shrouded Isles after her accidental release from captivity on 23 Hammer 1377 DR. The effect of this affliction is to turn those touched by it into undead servants of H'Bala. While slow acting, herbal cures or divine prayers may reverse some of it's ravages. It is believed that the Withering progresses through the necrotization of tissue, striking first at non-essential tissue and slowly moving to the vital organs. The final stage resulting in the necrotization of the victims mind. This process is accomplished via the formation of nodes of undeath or small lumps of outward expanding tissue that has been necrotized.

Those residing in the Mist are shielded from the affliction so that the Withering will advance no further in their bodies. The Withering is believed to be a cursed disease and as such no true cure is known. However, vials offered by both the Transcendent Conclave of the Isle of Ymph and the druidics of the Isle of Ymph are known to reduce the effects of the Withering. As the source text stated, H'Bala has produced an "affliction which functions as a disease yet has all the resilience and tenacity associated with the most damning of curses".
