Update the new player info

This isn't a game suggestion. It's a website suggestion: please update it when you have the time.

There are things, like perks, that are in he new player guides and website topics that aren't true anymore.  There are also other things that are server-special differences from NwN, that aren't documented either (at least not in the new player guide - it might be buried somewhere).

Just a few examples of things I've run across:

Quarterstaff is now considered a double-ended weapon, unlike vanilla NwN.

Tumble is changed in mysterious ways - but it looks like the changes are intended to hurt  melee classes compared to monks/fighting-mages (not sure that was actually needed, but regardless, it needs to be documented)

The Bard class, and Bard song, have been changed in ways that you don't know at character creation time, which is different than the way every other class's base abilities are known.

I'd like some basic explanation on how you use Specialty Slots as well.  For example, the summon control functionality.

And basically all other OOC mechanics for any EFU special object that it seems reasonable would present no in-character problem to understand should documented: Map pins, writing, How to change your summon scheme (and change it back), whatever else is out there.

Also, basic world information might be nice. Like the fact that Plate armor is nearly impossible to craft, and so is not for sale for just any price at any merchant.

Please note that I'm not asking for truly secret stuff to be documented.  Where you might find a book that changes your summon type, for instance, should still be secret. But what buttons to use to properly activate it if your PC finds one should not.

Maintaining accurate and appropriate documentation has always been such a struggle for us. It's an onerous and tedious sort of thing that no DM ever seems to really want to tackle, unfortunately.

Any player willing to tackle this terrible task would receive my blessing, gratitude, brownie points, and probably some kind of tangible IG reward.

Spiffy Has

If you mean the EFU Wikipedia that Egon started awhile ago, wasn't that shot down? <.<

OrneryBadger

That was because it gave away quest info, iirc.

The Pathfinder

I definitely have the time to do this; I have more time on the forums than I can spare IG. I'll take a look and see if it's feasible.

Aethereal

I'm willing to aid with this kind of thing. Although my time spent in EFU related activities will be drastically reduced nearing the end of the next fortnight.

If we get a backbone for what needs doing, I can help filling out details. I'll look into documenting the custom 'Player Tools," in the mean time.

It is through Art, and through Art only, that we can realise our perfection.

The Pathfinder

Okay. I'll go through all the Announcements/Information for New Players in the last year or so and look just for new/changed features.

It would probably be best to simply add onto the pre-existing Mechanics Changes thread.

EveryoneIsAWinner

I was going to do something like this! And I have a rough outline, So who ever is spearheading this effort, I got some infomation that we can just slap on as ready.

The Pathfinder

Let's just use this thread to organize. What do you have already?

EveryoneIsAWinner

I have a links for all the feat lists, and I have roughly a half paragraph explaining their purpose for each, in relation to making the classes more Diverse. I also have some work I made with weapons, and how rare some are, and how common others are in the EFU world.

How exactly could we help? Since we don't have the ability to edit the pertinent areas. Document what needs updating? Create a new formatted thread with the information?

I'd be willing to pitch in.

SkillFocuspwn

Does anyone have anything on player tools? I'd probably be able to write a bit on that if nobody else is going in that direction yet!

Porkolt

Yeah, I've got plenty of time to help with this as well. Obvious problem I'm already spotting is that this has to be played through DMs because players have no access to the forum itself. I suggest appointing a moderator who can edit the needed areas and organize all the other volunteers, and I volunteer for the function.

Quest accepted.

"We like writing documents." is particularly amusing.
