Bounties

As it stands bounties seem to reward dependant on how many people are with you when you claim the reward, Both XP and Gold reward.

I would suggest that the bounty remain at a fixed ammount both XP and Gold. It doesn't seem right that you should receieve say 2000 gold for a party of five taking down one bounty andusing little to no supplies whereas somebody taking the bounty solo would only receive 400 gold. (as well as what appears to be scaled XP) I don't know if this is an oversight or was intended but eitherway i feel a set bounty reward makes more sense.

Maybe higher rewards for harder bounties etc, could have the reward for each bounty posted on the bounty boards along with the name or something. It makes more sense that way because a bounty hunter may not go after person X who has a 100 gold bounty on their head for mugging someone whereas they might be more interested in going after person Y who has 1000 gold on his head for various murders.

Or maybe limit the scaling to two or three people? That way, you're still encouraging teamwork but not to the point where the actual fight becomes trivial.

I certainly think it would be interesting to mix up the bounties system...
  • Perhaps make some *very* tough with a suitable warning, but a nice reward.
  • Also it would be great if a "gang" of NPC's could have a bounty. Surely some of these guys would have henchmen? Again make it suitably tough and give them a good few healing / buffing potions to make it nice and challenging.

Keep it as it is, gank squading anything deserves shit reward. You have quests if you want to kill groups of things for good rewards and supplies, these are just a filler for those wishing to be a bounty hunter.

One_With_Nature

As it is gank squads are benefitting massively form the bounty system.

Wild Card

What about the ability to collect a character's head upon killing him or her which would let the bounty hunter bring it back to an NPC in town that issues the reward money.

MrGrendel

Scenario A: Three people get together to cooperatively collect a bounty. They take the head, each gets a reward.

Scenario B:  Three people get together to cooperatively collect a bounty. They take the head, the first player gets a reward. They go out and do the same thing over again, the second player gets a reward. They go out and repeat again, the third player gets a reward.

Scenario C: Only one person gets to collect a bounty per day.

If you look this over, I think you will agree that A makes the most sense and I'm sure it was designed with the intention of not penalizing interaction and cooperation with other players.

Consider further the way solo quests stop very quickly once mid levels are reached and I think it's pretty clear these aren't primarily intended to be solo quests for bounty hunters.

Also, gank squads have nothing to do with people getting together to do a quest.

I like the idea of supporting team work and all that...

I think i should clarify this is how the system currently seems to work:

Bounty X

1 person claims bounty X = 400 gold + (y) XP

2 person claims bounty X = 800 gold + (2y) XP

3 person claims bounty X = 1200 gold + (3y) XP

And so on...

Meaning that the bounty is no set ammount and could easily go upto 3200 gold which is way too much for a single bounty and extreme XP rewards. That is why i think it should be changed, Bounty hunting is not something that is always done in groups its automated system (and personally something i wouldn't mind doing if there are very few people online) So i see no reason why groups should recieve this giant reward screwing over the badass bounty hunters that don't need to gank a single man with large groups.

If Bounty X is received by each individual in the group, then that is way too much incentive for group work and should probably be changed. But I assume the gold is just so that each member of the group receives an equal amount and the XP is also split evenly amongst the party rather than being granted to each member. Which although from an IG economy perspective doesn't make sense, it does avoid penalizing cooperation.

Aside from that, I have noticed that in order to claim a bounty, you have to have already accepted the quest from the bounty manager. And although it makes sense in that you can't just kill named NPCs in secluded areas without first knowing if they are wanted or not, it does leave the issue that some bounties will remain unclaimed for the reset if the NPC was killed without the bounty quest accepted.

Porkolt

It's a bounty. It's not going to suddenly go up if you collect it with lots of people at once.

That the XP is increased depending on how many people did it could make at least some sense. But not the gold.

One_With_Nature

The XP increase is for every member. So if 1 person did it lets say they got 100xp, 2 people would be getting 200xp each and so on.

Well, perhaps the gold and XP multiplier should be outright removed. That does seem a bit excessive of a reward for cooperation (XP being an OOC reward, gold being an illogical game world reward.)

And thus, I agree with your main post. A set gold reward to be split between the members of the party and the same probably for XP. The challenge rating of these wanted criminals alone should be sufficient for people wanting to group up.

I assume virtually every quest in existence increases gold and xp for having more players complete it, and it "makes IC, logical sense" for roughly 0 of them.
