Before now for couple years, I'm one person who has never had any issues with nwn on any windows 7, pro, enterprise and home editions.

2 months ago before I had to take a break, I had reconfigured my machine and installed everything a new, and in that instance I also was prompted to install windows service pack instead of years worth of smaller updates.

However, after all said and done, currently when I run nwn it automaticly shuts off AERO visuals, as it does not support them. No surprise, it is obvious it has never supported it - however it never before turned them off automaticly.

Now also when I run the game and attempt to create a character, it ceases to function when I enter "Customization" part, and closes the program.

I have not been able to find a solution to fix it.

Are you running nwn in compatibility mode.

I'm doing everything usual you can most likely think about. Unless it is something very specific, some specific file or matter that can cause it.

While at it, does anyone know where I can digitally get installation files for nwn and it's expansions, so I can do a reinstallation, again.

What I would prefer, is that it is not some diamond or any special edition, because it seems they hold little different files, and may be the cause of the problem. In all my years as I have installed nwn through my original CD/dvd's, no problems have ever occured. I am unable to do that as my old reader is not usable, so this is also something that was done differently the last time I installed nwn, which may explain the issues.

The only things I could suggest are to set your CPU affinity to only use one core for NWN. Then you should disable any 3d sounds in the sound options, as 7 had a problem with the way they "emulate" sound effects.

I assume you tried to disable Aero manually at this point, but if not I would do that. The last thing is to -not- use any compatibility modes but to check "run as administrator" in the shortcut properties. Beyond that it may be something specific to your install or, more likely, your video card.

Done everything said above. No game.

For now it seems I've had all set and fixed to work. Thanks for any advices given here.
