Less Battered stuff, please

First off, I like the new "battered" equipment, it's good flavour loot to represent the fact that not everything recovered will be in perfect condition. However, it seems to be beyond that, as I've seen about half or more of the drops I'd usually find are "battered" versions, that in most cases are pointless.

The problem with this is not only that it reduces the reward of quests significantly, but also leads to more "trash loot" that just gets dumped as opposed to being sold, or clutters the place up. Could the chances be adjusted so you're likely to get maybe one "battered" thing a run, as opposed to a pile of them?

Listen in Silence

A better or good idea would making it so that the drop of armour, weapon, shield whatever- is either battered or normal. That way the overall loot doesn't consist of more useless armor, but rather the same amount of equipment, only sometimes it's not as useful as other times.

Moonthirst

Well remember that part of the battered stuff should also be un-battered. So that then it would have some GOOD stuff to it.

The Beggar

I like things that are battered

When battered things are fried though...mmmmm...tasty.

There really is a noticeable difference between players who were around before the battered stuff showed up and the newer ones. I have not seen any of the items that are now battered that are not, and while I don't know if that's luck or intentional, all it's doing is giving a significant edge to older characters.

Thomas_Not_very_wise

I like it as it is

Seriously

4000 year old shit shouldn't be that well enchanted.

Make up your minds, people. The "poor-quality version" loot suggestion has got to have been the fasted-implemented suggestion ever. And now you're complaining about it. >:[

I think the quests should drop more gold so that new characters can afford to buy the non-battered versions of equipment that existed before the update; at least until they all die in a swamp and nobody has any good loot anymore.

Letsplayforfun

The battered, rusted, old, worn, useless equipement is what makes EfU(A) a flavored server. Leave as is.

It's constructive feedback, not "not making our minds up". The idea was a good one, the new "battered/fading" loot is well though out, it's just that the drop rate's set so high that I'm repeatedly doing quests that aren't providing any useful equippable items for all the effort.

Since the basic item descriptions for a lot of items even imply that they have lost power, for example Jergali Brigandine, that covers TNVW's comment anyway.

IMO the Battered items should by mostly for the rarer drops. Not to make them any less common, but provide a sort of "teaser" that there's better, useful versions out there and the quest's worth doing another time for that.

@Let'splayforfun:
THis isn't about Rusted Chainmail and stuff, its' the new, trashy versions of stuff like most armor sets that have become so common that you can't get hold of the good sets on quests anywhere near as much, messing with recent new players.

The Beggar

I enjoy the loot personally, and don't mind the descriptors. It gives a mental imagry that is nice to have when playing a character, and adds to the run down and negelcted feel of the island.

Ymph, and all those on it, should be like the red headed stepchildren of the archipelago, not to mention the world. Beaten. Broke. And battered. Just like our equipment.

I do applaud Egon for the post, and agree that open discussion of any issues is beneficial for the server.

Mort

Ironic, but here to stay. Yes, lots of stuff has gotten rarer.
