Going to bump this thread.

Don't use black out because you are to lazy to wait and let them move themselves a few areas away when you are perfectly safe to let them walk themselves.

For pities sake people, let people be INVOLVED when they are being kidnapped when you are in complete control! BOing someone when you ganked a PC in the middle of the wilderness to "move them somewhere safe" is really uncalled for.

It's there for a reason. It used to be buggy, now it isn't as far as I know. There are many reasons for using it, beyond simple kidnapping (such as summons, quick muggings, subduals in areas with many hostile NPC's around, etc.). It may be annoying at times to be blacked out, but ultimately it's nothing big.
