Efu, Efu;A, Efu;M what meant the most?

The Old Hack

Any moment where common sense urges you to walk the short path to safety but roleplay dictates that you jump into the abyss with death as a likely result -- and you choose the latter. For me, these include:

Solace pleading for death by execution rather than enslavement.

Karrin Connell sticking around with the dwarven faction in its last stand against the mad beholder, dying while inserting a wand of lightning into the beholder's mouth and setting it off.

Reese informing Emma Snow and de Villiers that she had not been aware that the creed of the Three and the One mandated genocide.

Camille de Ferbourg charging alongside Aishê Nafrémetit against the Rubies that had just betrayed Trenada. (I had really not expected to survive that one.)

Camille again, during nearly the entirety of the Last Days of the Dominion and the battles against H'bala's forces. Refusing to quit no matter how hopeless it looked, and it looked plenty hopeless near the end. >.>

Apart from the above, certain people were beyond wonderful to roleplay with no matter which character I played at the time. Elera. Ghost and Izzy. Bartorius Baldomar, Graegor Griffinlord and Brok'tor Kildare. Frog and Apudo. Micheal Tommas, of course. Aishê, who was a friend of Reese and became more than a sister for Camille. Lazaric Monteblanc, that magnificent bastard. Imnan, who became synonymous with the death Karrin feared and coveted. Bartemis Vrintak, who became Solace's hated and despised nemesis without them ever meeting. Anotropos Legenis, who irritated Solace beyond endurance and made Karrin try to be better than she knew she was. A certain very irritating priestess of Umberlee who drove Camille to distraction and beyond at times. And last but not least, an elven priestess of Mystra whose name consisted solely of vowels and apostrophes -- you know who you are.

Halflings are great at suiciding vs Beholders. Andean did the same thing, with an item with Ball Lightning on it, getting killed but killing the Beholder that was off giving the Evil Eye to his team. BEST DEATH EVER! :)

Hin with lightning items ftw!

Conan The Conqueror

Long throughout EFU in its various incarnations I have been content to observe and really watch other's stories unfold. There was a moment in Kingman's Inn during EFU:A that has stood out to me above most others.

I was playing Martyn Greywood, and the members of House Greywood had assembled during some event. Just seeing our group together working towards a common goal gave me a feeling that we were helping to shape events within the server, however small they might be. I've only been part of three DM factions (that I can recall) and perhaps a handful of Player factions, so the feeling of belonging to something larger wasn't a feeling I was really accustomed to.

It was that moment that I really got to experience the group narrative, and come to a better understanding of the possibilities that EFU has to offer.

Elytherin Dragonius

WAAAAAAYYYYY too many to count though one or two come to mind.

Reonie Tibble back in the underdark, my LG monk, giving up the body of a dead companion to *i cant remember what evil devil the dm was possessing* in exchange for 500 gold that would go towards her idea of building a floating Monastary for monks to train. She lost her way and the DM changed her to chaotic, which ment she was screwed as far as leveling further as a monk. the falling out from her companions and the death of a couple of plot pc's ment her plans never got off the ground but the fact that i as a player never considered that she could lose her way like that made me realise that everything in efu can have concequences that you may not see coming.

having a fresh evil halfling rogue go on a DM quest back to do clowns (during EFU:M) with a group of people only to die against bobo and realising that no matter how well i played the halfling, he could never be as evil as damn bobo. getting a tell from the dm that my body was clear to return, only for me to reply, no its ok i think i will perma this one. Who ever Dm'ed that, THANK YOU and sorry lol

The entirety of playing Skub, dispite being useless mechanically the RP factor was great and i loved his death, trying to break into the stygians to break free the rest of the Legion but getting pumped by everyone that was outside.

Playing the huntress for the umbaktu tribe and the rp that was had with everyone with the tribe and in the tribe itself.

The fun that i had playing Okan' kla my riser monk, a massive shame that RL got in the way of running that to completion, i was enjoying roping in the necromancer to do my bidding, it was a huge shame that i couldnt run my plot to completion dispite being slightly downtrodden by some of the other riser characters, he had a funny outlook on unlife and it would have been great to have had the chance to get into more conflict with other players.

But i will definately agree the pat on the back from a DM for the way your character is portrayed is a fantastic feeling

Knight Of Pentacles

I just now thought of my most memorable moment.  It was when I had died fighting Shevorth for the second time, with a second character.  About 30 minutes after I fugued, there was a HUGE rumble and a ghostly Shevorth appeared infront of us.  His remark was something along the lines of "Oh, nuts." and then flew off into the astral sea.

putrid_plum

SHERRY!  Yes that duel was great. :)

Releasing H'bala was probably my second favorite moment ever then begging for mercy so great.

Hands down my most memorable moment was my very first PC ever on EFU.  I played this monk of Shar who aspired to be in the Order of the Darkmoon Monks.  After alot of luck and manipulation of PCs I got the chance to meet the Darkmoon Master, played by NC, or should I say he found me!  He then asked me a question I had to answer and if not I would die, then he was counting down for my answer.  I swear I've never been more scared in my life for a PC, haha.  I couldn't type fast enough then I had typos oh man I wont ever forget that.

IxTheSpeedy

I'd say I have two, I think the most fun I've had was playing on team elf last year with my PC Arya Tawariell.  Great group of very supportive players, my first intro to a nature type character and the incredible wealth of mystery that is possible outside of civilization.

My other was playing a priest of Lathander, Duglas Tvar, his interactions with one of his faithful, a member of the guard, was probably the most in character I have ever been while RP'ing.

Both were on EFU:A.

Somniis

There are many moments:

- The moment I logged in with my first PC to test the server out IG, and I couldn't figure out if I was meeting players, NPCs, or DMS -total immersion in the setting drew me back again and again. Still does.

- The welcome and support from players and DMs.

- A player-made map given to my first PC by the elven ranger, Sorell Greyn, that took me 18 months to finally explore IG. There were parts of it that I never found.

- The absolute nerve racking hours spent exploring the Sand Caverns in the Underdark as a Society Ordinant.

- The Canon and Non-Canon flavours of the server that allow for incredible creativity.

- The seemingly limitless plots and player/DM created histories.

- The forgiveness by DMs and players for making a seriously stupid mistake. (releasing our quest group from a cage using my Light Archon familiar that "grew metaphysical arms and pulled the release chain" :P ) - Thanks to the DM who politely showed me why it was epicly dumb! ;)

- The Temple of Hoar, DM-quest where paladin Geraint Redpath sought redemption, yet was forced by an entity into the dilemma to cut his hand off to save a child. And the child ran off laughing. :( The speeches given by all players had me dumbfounded with admiration. I was tongue-tied.

- A Githzerai prelude involving Society Ordinants.

- Drilacko Kenaut's slide into 'mania'.

- Convincing Councillor Aledrec of Yhaun to steal a thrall detection device and give it to me :)

- Watching the little known Montezzi brothers fight in the Pyrimo arena, and then being witness to them turning the server upside down.

- Meeting the Scholar Aleczumberzeil for a little chat about Negative Energy at the Last Stand; dismissing  him IC as curious but unimportant. Being witness to the Scholar's activities and reputation.

- Meeting the Great Druid in the UD a week before the fall of Sanctuary.

- Everything Alkalurops. ;)

- The release of H'bala quest  - and it's continuing ramifications.

Watching this as a PC, that Sherry mentioned was cool:

QuoteA lot of really intense fueding went on between the faction that few people
got to see (sadly), including a very wild duel between its two most prominent
cultist for the amusement of a very powerful lich

Otherwise escaping the UD with one of my favourite UD PC's is up there.

NeverForgotten2

Heh my favorite memory was when i found two good friends while playing... My second was when i first logged onto the server and so many players were kind enough to teach me about efu to try and get me ready.
My third was learning the rules the hardway.. by ending up to break every single one not intentionally but it still happened. I was new to RP servers new to Neverwinter what could one expect. I regret how it all ended though more so my ending actions and my last words...
Hate me all you want for this post i am sorry....
And with those words....

I would have to say out of all of it, it would be my lovely half-drow bard and Son of Sabuth Nigel ''Smokey'' Tir'ek and the times with the gang. He never actually did much other than sell drugs, hit on everything with breasts (and some things that didn't), talk like a badass and slum around the docks and betray one of his best friends. But the RP between and the time spent was some of the best I could ask for.

Vlaid

The single thing that meant the most to me in all my time of playing EFU is when a DM singled out my seemingly unimportant and possibly uninteresting elf ranger, and made a small quest for me and another similar PC to go on together that was tailored for us in a very neat way.

Either that, or when I first started on the server and my first experience was being taken into the arena to "spar", getting beaten to a blood pulp, robbed, then given a job by the same person. Some people might have gotten really upset, but I thought it was awesome compared to what I had seen before.

Hard for me to choose of the two, both meant a lot to me and likely why I always came back for more after that.

Edit: Actually I can't even narrow it down to just two. The day I got accepted into the Watch, a DM faction, and got to be part of the larger story of EFU, albeit briefly, was maybe one of my proudest moments for a stumbling noob like me =)

I want to read more stories so I'll post one to get keep things rolling.

I played a Stygian Infantryman, Mirana Moore. And despite all the many things I got involved with from the Siege of Castle Blackhearth to everyday law enforcement to investigating criminals the best parts is always the little interactions with other characters.

Magister had an Infantryman Belalcazar at the time who Moore had to get a recommendation from. He gave her the task of protecting RwG's Banite at the time who ended up dying. In a fit of rage, Belalcazar struck Moore but still gave her the recommendation.

A few months later down the line, Belalcazar, Moore, and a few others go off to arrest the Dwarven Thane for treason. We all got our asses kicked but after that Belalcazar writes a letter commending Moore and also apologizing for striking her so many months back.

It was such a warm and fuzzy moment. The best part, however, was when later on Moore leans in close to Belalcazar to whisper her thanks to him. He shrinks away timidly, something I'd never thought I'd see Belalcazar do. I laughed my ass off when I found out later on from Mag that he was expecting more than just that whisper of thanks.

Porkolt

Quote from: Porkolt;250383I think it says a lot that I can't think of any specific moments.

After carefully considering the matter, I decided on the following moment:

My PC Francis Offbit gets involved in some strange Targan ritual or something going on in the Warden's arena. Because he was being stupid, he got set up with something doing damage/round (coupled with a red glow), and tried to figure out a way to get rid of it. In plain sight of a dozen PCs he pulled up a beggar boy and threw it into the pit to be devoured by the spirits present there, causing a bunch of undead creatures to burst forth from the arena which proceeded to kick everyone's asses.

Though pretty much immediately getting downed by an ILM (I think it was VP), Offbit managed to almost weasel his way towards the Docks before the fighting ended and everyone gathered to gloat over his bleeding body in the square.

Having invested quite a few ranks in bluff, he then proceeded to tell some crappy story about how he was posessed by the spirits and they forced him to throw the kid into the pit. The DM present had everyone make wisdom rolls, and after a bit more discussion, a present ally made a bid to get me out and I got away due to what I think was a glitch allowing me to make tumble checks while under the effects of a tanglefoot bag.

I was much later told by a PC who was present that the DM had told them, in response to the wisdom check, that I was probably telling the truth. They had gotten the highest roll.
