Don't close threads so quickly!

This is the comment I was about to leave in the thread Raise Dead, Candles of Life, and Spell Failure.

QuoteAnother wrinkle in all this is the fact that Raise Dead scrolls aren't terribly difficult to come by, and they always work. A whole rebalancing of the resurrection system would not be out of order, methinks.

I got blocked when I hit submit because the thread had been closed. The thread wasn't especially controversial, the horse was not dead, and there was more discussion to be had. I'm sure I'm not the only person who had something to add to the conversation. At the time I was composing my contribution to the thread, there were 5 other people reading it.

I can understand closing down a thread when discussion gets hot, but this one was less than three hours old, and people were being civil. Yes, I realize that it was closed due to an awesomely fast response from a DM, but in this case, I don't think the thread was quite done cooking.

Can we not be in such a hurry to lock down threads please?

I also wanted to post and ask how the system was adjusted.

Howlando

I realize everyone likes to say their piece, but what is the point in discussing this further when the change was made?

It will be easier for clerics to Raise Dead successfully, enough said.

Aye Lad

I don't see the point of -this- thread, but if you think there's more to discuss, why not make a General Discussion thread? I mean, the Suggestion part is over.

The second this thread was made, you knew what was going to happen...

That joke wasn't funny the first 1,000 times you posted it, and nothing significant has changed since then. I'm actually kind of disappointed that you didn't take the opportunity to lock this thread rather than posting that particular comment. Now that would have been funny and original.

See... you didn't do it, either. Maybe that means I have a point.

I'm just saying, it was a productive discussion. The Raise Dead system could use some attention in the new setting, and players might have something to say. That thread was a good place to say it.
