Mist Seeker

All,
I have in the past struggled to create characters that were interesting to -me- over the long term. As a result, they became rather cookie cutter and were not very interesting to other players / DMs either. I ran into a design template that helped me avoid this by forcing me to think through various factors of my character as I created him. It also serves as a great reminder of what the character is about and works as the start of the Personal Character Notes thread. Hope this helps some others like it helped me.

Character Design Temple:

- General Information -
Name:
Race:
Arch Type: // Character Arch Type: Hero, Anti-Hero, Sage, Mentor, Ect?
Diety:
Claimed Diety: // If the character follows Cyric, who does he claim to follow?
Profession: // Lore Keeper, Hunter, Guide, Healer, Sellsword, Ect
Class: // NWN Class(es)
Alignment:

- Philosophy -
// World outlook of your character. This should tie in with your Arch Type, Profession, and Class. In other words, you are Lore Keeper Hero of Oghma who believes it is the duty of the few to discover the secrets of the arcane for the betterment of all. As a result you are either a mage or bard who focuses on research into ancient arcane rituals or inventing new ones.

- Background -
// How did your character come to have his/her arch-type, philosophy, profession, and class? I would advise against making this to awe inspiring. No one likes the dragon slayer who came to the isle, got bumped on the head, and now cant kill a goblin. For the above example, an apprentice raised in Candlekeep by a kindly Mage. Taught from his cradle to revere Oghma and seek out knowledge for the betterment of all.

- Goals -
// What are you trying to accomplish given the above framework. For me this tends to flow from the above and I try to keep it as large and open ended as possible. I also try to have at least two, one that I can work towards on my own and one that requires a group. That way I have something to do when I am low on IC friends and something to involve others in when they are around. Keeping with the above, our PC is seeking out the location of ancient magical relics to put them use to defend the town. Two goals from this, the first is the finding of the location which can be done via scrying or invisible exploration alone. The second involves gathering and returning them which requires a group to fight through the inevitable monsters. Its also rather open ended as there will never be a total end to the lost relics on EfU, the DMs will see to that.

nice work, this would indeed help some people to define their characters a little better than being quite hazy,

I myself have a concept that im ironinga couple of kinks before i put it into play and this has reminded me how to get it smooth without any jarring twists.

Thanks!
