Hey, everyone. Very few of you might recognize me as the player of the halfling Owen Porter. While I enjoy playing him immensely the game has basically turned into sitting around waiting to go on the scripted quests. Those are tons of fun and the people who put this server together did a good job designing them but I want more. The reason I'm on this server is because of its high standard of role-play. That being said, it seems like a lot of people just want to grind quests, getting impatient whenever anyone takes a moment to pause and, you know, actually role-play. :p

I'd like to get involved in something other than grinding quests. Need a partner for a concept you've got in the game or just bouncing around in your brain? Let me know some details and I'll let you know if it interests me. Feel free to PM me.

Thanks in advance for anyone who reaches out to me. ;)

Keeper of the White Wyrm

You are welcome to join any faction in game. Just take the steps yourself.

Nightshadow

I highly recommend joining KotWW's faction.

Isn't that what I'm doing?

My current character wouldn't join either of the houses and... well, those are really the only factions I know about. So I'm putting myself out there for anyone who would like another character for their idea/concept/whatever.

Keeper of the White Wyrm

The Muster is an excellent faction for a cleric of Arvoreen.

Considering recent IC developments, I'm afraid not.

Nightshadow

You could go out and befriend the Stargazers. Just watch for groups or even simple individuals that your character agrees with or likes, and try and have fun with them, even if you don't join them. You could make your own faction, dedicated to protection, particularly of halflings.

Kinslayer988

Due to recent developements there should be no problems

<SkillFocuspwn> no property developers among men only brothers

Hahaha OK. Maybe I'll look into it. ;)

Thanks guys.

You could also try to start your own PC-faction.

Somniis

Hiya Clockwork,

Welcome to EfU:M.!

As far as getting involved in the game beyond grinding quests... there are a number factions and associations around - some brand new, some years old. There's also merchants, mercs, nature folk, criminals... all kinds of people about subtly and not-so subtly peddling there wares IG. And the odd monster and oddity popping up throwing spanners into the works.

I must admit that sometimes I get a bit sidelined sitting around planning my next move IG. Sometimes a simple thing like writing a letter to someone you meet IG, or writing to an NPC, can turn things around and get all kinds of good things happening. These are only a few suggestions... there's millions of ways to play as I'm sure you know.

Check the 'Mistlocke Manual' under the 'Info' icon on the main page... In the Mistlocke Manual, check the Setting Information, then have a look at the brief overviews of 'DM Factions' and 'Associations'. Lots of good server specific info in the Misty Manual!

EfU is deep and wide with streams of lore and RP. Keep looking and it'll find you.

If you still feel constrained by anything IG or OOC.. please ask more questions :)

As Somniis touches on above, there are always a lot of things going on both in public and behind the scenes of EfU.

The quickest if not the best way to get involved with them is indeed to join either a PC or a DM faction, but of course, many of them may not suit your concept at the time.

I would explore the possibility of creating my own PC faction in that case. It may seem difficult, but with a little dedication it can often times be well worth it.

Edit: Much of the roleplay I believe you are craving happens one way or another in factions, since they have a reason beyond "exp and loot" for banding together.

Howlando

There are definitely a lot of players and groups who are interested in going beyond questing it up (although of course that has its place also). There's some charitable group action going on working for a better future, some seedy gambling dodginess and Other Trades occurring in the Old Stones, a pretty interesting mechanist/humanist society, a lot of different nature PCs who don't even live in the town, the seeds of a group based in Sis Liman, and of course our associations and factions. The Muster is good if you just want something you can log on with and try to keep Mistlocke peaceful, and Houses Aberdenn and Caermyn have their own agendas also.

If you end up still struggling don't hesitate to get in touch with me for more guidance.

To throw in my 2 cents...

If you are intent on sticking with your current character, my advice is to "just roleplay" and put in a little extra effort to think about your character's motivations and let your "involvement" grow and evolve naturally.

On the other hand, you can also put your current PC on pause and make a character specifically for a faction. It may sound a little shallow at first, but playing in a faction is equally fun as a standard "water-carrier" type (e.g. a Templar who sticks to the dogma of the Order uncontroversially) or as a unique spin on a faction character (a Conclave wizard with a bizarre twist) who is just using the faction to further their own agenda. Either way, you are guaranteed a lot of involvement in plot arcs.

Good luck!

Team Nature is extremely roleplay heavy, because we suck at questing.

But really, nature is a very confusing place right now, and we are figuring out many exciting things, our numbers are raising quickly and making it all more the fun. If you wanna know more, come join #TreeHuggers
