Happens to me that i want to do a quest, but it says the quest is taken by people, people that dont turn in adn finish their quest. Then you have to wait eternaly and cant do it, unless a dm help.

Maybe putting a timer so after 30minuts short quests, 1hour for longer quests or something similar, so it cancel the quests and somebody else can do it.

I dunno if this has been sugested before, but I think it would be a very good idea to do that.

TheMacPanther

I'm for this, but if it was implemented I am sure that quite a few pissed off people will have quests close on them early due to unforeseen circumstances of if someone wants to *gasp* roleplay during the quest. I would think a timer would have to be in 3 hour increments or something along those lines, i've easily spent over 2 hours in a single QA.

Haromaro

I'm against this, but I've admittedly never run into a problem with people taking too long on quests.

Decimate_The_Weak

I think that this might be a good idea, where the script might be triggered after the party leaves the QA. Therefor, it'll only solve the issue of people not turning in, or closing the quest.

However, the only issue that I can see arising from that is the issue of a near full party wipe, where the remaining party members have to seek help.

HaveLuteWillTravel

Not only that, DM spice can often lengthen a quest considerably. I've had it happen a time or two where a previous party didn't close a quest, but I don't think it's a prevalent issue.

Portal Rat

Just increase the experience awards on quests so that they aren't so easily forgettable.

Getting 120 experience as a reward for a 3-7 or 4-8 level quest is never an appropriate reward for the amount of risk involved.

Ok wait a moment!!

I mean not to have quest close on people taking time for quest. I take my time very much myself and I RP too, but this why you put timer like... if the quest guy hasnt been in the qwest area for a while. Or not, put a timer, that dm can cancel. IM sure there is ways to accomodate people.

Because it happened me twice, want to do a quest, one guy was gone and forgot complete the quest for hours.. So I saw me and other aparty couldnt do the quest we wanted do.

I think if jim does a quest, but jim is at the tavern taking about the beautiful girl and the beer, the quest should be cancel automatically.

Its frustrating when you want to do a quest, but you cantbecause of this. Happened to me again today, dm helped me taths cool. But dm isnt always there!

Anyway just a sugestion i dont believe theres anything wrong with that suggestion and I read all you said.

To clarify, this only causes problems if someone finishes a quest and doesn't close it, but remains online. A locking quest can be taken by anyone if its quest party is nowhere to be found.

you can say my idea is -1 all you want, but when i wanted to do tehse quests and couldnt, and nobody else was doing it, I thought it was very -1 myself... But, I guess it was super ultra bad luck and never happens to nobody but me?

nevermind

Keeper of the White Wyrm

This happens only on newbie quests and most decent people who remain online will go ahead and close it.

To be fair, this does happen, and all it takes is asking a dm to reset the quest for you. If not, wait for another reset.

Against as it is unnecessary.

Quest timer (10-20 mins)  AFTER the quest boss is killed IMO.

A quest can extend it's time lenght dramatically depending on how prepared the PCs are, DM spice, roleplay, AFKs or a combination of either. A quest that normally takes 30 mins can take two hours with this things in mind.

Rincewind1

I am very much against this, as it sounds like something that'd support running through quests without RP.

Howlando

I don't think this is necessary. If a character takes the quest, doesn't conclude it, and logs out, the quest then becomes available. If the character remains IG, but doesn't finish the quest (which is I believe a very rare event), a polite tell is surely sufficient for them to come back and close it for you.

well, disregard my suggesstion. Its just me thats beed very unlucky it seems.
