There's echo about "winning" in various recent posts. In EfU, winning was escaping the underdark. The rest was having fun pursuing one's own goals, and therefore, everyone of us had fun in his own way.

So i thought i'd ask straight up: what's "winning" mean for you in EfUA?

Kiaring

Escaping to the Surface was a goal like any other. I suppose you could construe it as 'winning' if you wanted to, given it was an extremely arduous goal, including The Way, which, as we know, permakilled countless characters.

I do not believe there has ever been anything like 'winning' on EfU, and I think it's the same for EfU:A. Winning is really not what EfU is about - it's about a story, a character (for each of us) and having fun.

I think you win and lose on a daily basis.

Great, i found the dye I wanted, win!

Gah, I think that halfling ran off with the quest loot, lose!

I ran off with quest loot, win! Etc.

More often in life its about the little things.

Winning to me has always been when my character gets swept up into things.

Being pulled in seven different directions by different plots and players.

Coming home from work and logging in.

Pure enjoyment = Winning

And it just keeps getting better. :D

Every day that you enjoy playing your character, you win.

Every day that you get caught up in OOC drama or angst, you lose.

There really isn't a win or lose in EfU, OK, there's a lose when they get killed, but winning is highly different per character, for example, Rinaldo Montezzi and the House Montezzi's goal was to rule the Lower and Canal, they did a damn fine job and effectivly 'won' that aspect of EfU, dispite in the end being killed by a supposed Spellguard-made spider. They did a fine job, even with the guerilla fighting going on.

Winning for me is achieving my character's goals.
