Hey everyone, as you can see by my posting number I'm fairly new to the EfU server. One of my friends actually play on this server so I thought I'd come on over here and give it a try. These..perks, my friend told me were certain "abilities" that you could get once you reach certain levels. So while speaking with him, several questions and thoughts that came up that I hope can be answered by all of you.

1. I searched through the forum multiple times and couldn't find anything that listed or talked about all the available perks IG. Can someone show me please?

2. I was -amazed- to learn that rogue's had their own special set of upgraded perks. Rogue's are generally one of the most OP classes, esspecially when combined with other classes. One such example is the classic fighter rogue. I can understand if the perks were pure rogue only, but it seems even cross class rogue's can access some of these special extra perks that no one else can get. Some of the perks just didn't make sence either, such as "Commander."

3. Does each class get it's own special extra list of perks that is only accessable if you take atleast 1 level in that class, or is that only for the rogue?

4. If the extra perks are rogue only, I think it would be a good idea to give each class extra perks, or "Class specific" perks aslong as they take a certain amount of levels in that class to unlock them. Like to get a 8th level perk for fighters only, you would infact have to have 8 levels in fighter. It would be silly if a level 1 fighter, 7 wizard got a perk named "Hardened frontline veteran". That is of course saying, on the off chance that the DM's arn't working on this sort of thing allready.

Discusssssss.

Hi Swifty, and welcome.

1. You can find all the general perks here: http://www.escapefromundeath.com/documentation/character-development/perks

2. Rogue perks (Level 5 ones) are for anyone levelling up as a rogue and  are just like any other perk, although some have bonuses if you are  pure rogue. Level 8 perks are for pure rogues only.

3. No other class has their own perks (yet), but many of the general  perks are only suitable or beneficial for certain class types  (spellcasters / crafters / divine characters etc).

4. You can certainly make suggestions for this kind of stuff in the   Suggestions forums. It is worth remembering though that the rogue perks   were specifically added to encourage more people to pursue a pure rogue   when mechanically there are probably better multi-class options from a   power perspective. Many other classes are actually -better- when pure.

EDIT: Corrected my own misunderstanding about rogue perks!

The reason Rogues got these perks (that are only for people with 5 levels of Rogue in a low level server) is that rogue was only vaguely useful when multiclassed. Rogue on its own was undoubtedly one of the weakest classes on EfU given how common Undead are as an enemy and how generally survivable traps and locks are on the majority of quests.

It was done to balance their weakness and this is why it exists only for Rogues and not for other classes. People don't need more rewards for getting high level in other classes anyway, high level itself is reward enough for that. Rogues were just disadvantaged.

Welcome to the server!

Some of the mechanical choices we've made may seem strange at first, but mechanics in EfU tends to (mostly) be very balanced and make excellent sense for what we have set up. I'd say in general we try to make everything useful - virtually every class has different modifications and access to special things to improve them.

Ah, allright. Thanks for clearing a lot of that stuff up guys. I guess I'll see for myself in time the different chances on EfU. =)

You can find all the current rogue perks listed here. A rogue commander sounds weird? Not every leader is of martial strength and capacity, a lot are also cunning tacticians, charming diplomats, inspiring spokesmen and a numerous other definitions. Rogues above all else have the ability to aspire towards such careers as most definitions of the rogue class fits extremely well.

Swifty Willownall

True. It's not weird having a rogue be those multiple things as a rogue is D&D's jack of all trades aside from the bard. I was leaning towards more the fact that, I don't know about you, but I see commander being a fighter/barbarian thing more then it being a rogue thing, but this goes off on a tangent about each class having their own special level 8 perks and belonging in the suggestion threads.

Read this three times. Or you'll end up like me complaining druids suck when they are actually so damn powerfull on the server.

Disco

Druids do suck ;-)

Welcome to efu.

Hi! Something that you might notice in the "general perks" list is that there are already class perks, kind of. The elemental bond ones, Kamikaze Evoker and Death Channels only really help caster classes unless you UMD a LOT of offence wands. The Whispherer, War Screamer and that other one replace Turn Undead so are only useful for Clerics and Paladins.

Also, have a look at the mechanics pages and you'll notice a lot of class specific abilities. Rangers and druids can track mobs, Wizards and Sorcs get bonuses to Alchemy etc. Some of the stuff is in the pages mentioning scripted systems, rather than class changes, so it's deifitely worth reading the manual pages :D.

What exactly do these perks do? I can't find them listen anywhere.

Portal Rat

There was a thread in the Announcements forum called "Perks a la Fallout" that listed the other perks, but I'll be damned if i can find the thread. Sorry mate, I did try.

These perks unfortunately fell off the list when they got moved to the new website. They will be added in due course!

The Rogue is indeed the jack of all trade, which is why you can specialize in so many ways. To Us, the rogue class represents:
The Politician
The Merchant
The Leader
The Thief
The Scout
The Explorer
The Assassin
...

And the list goes on, you can build your character toward any of these facets and then take a Perk that fits your character's personae. If your rogue is a tactician that establish battle plans or work siege machinery then maybe Commander works for it.

...

The fact that barbarian / fighter do not have these does not exclude them from this role. It is simply that barbarian have other advantages depicted in the gameworld --  and fighter with their extra feats can be built in a majority of ways already that it enables them to specialize in a variety of roles.
