"Potions of Cure Serious Wounds" for more quests.

Over the last several months, I've noticed that decent cure potions have become harder and harder to get hold of, compared to the days where you could do orcs 1 and everyone would walk out with a 10-stack of Cure Serious. First Wild Orc Berzerkers are nerfed to rarely drop CSW. Then Tower of Mercy gets restricted to 10 times only, and so on. The few quests that are mid/high level and do have a chance of dropping them tend to drop their own Quest Flavoured Versions of the potion, which don't stack with the default ones.

These were fine when we were swimming in CSW, but now it makes loot a pain to organise unless you're in a powerquest team with good healers and don't need to use yours.

It's a fairly minor thing I know, but could we have some of the flavour potions replaced with the default "Potion of Cure Serious Wounds", so PCs don't all have a mishmash of stacks each with a couple of potions in? It's Invent-Tetris at it's worst.

Coldburn

Please do it. There can easily be 4 versions of unstackable potions that do the exact same thing.

Healing and Barkskin suffer from this notably.

Lenthis

Flavor is flavor, Aged civilizations dont have genric cure wounds potions, Gnolls dont have brewers just chilling with iron pots brewing out "Cure serious wound potions" They make beastmen healing drink and the like.

If you dont want the flavorfull items, leave them behind spring 500 gold to a divine brewer and buy 10 cure serious wounds instead

Drakill Tannan

A generic CSW potion can be roleplayed as a thousand diferent brews that all do the same thing, mind you.

This is pretty trivial, I think, and I'm personally unwilling to compromise cool customized flavoursome potion drops for the sake of inventory organisation.

you axed for it

Non-stacking potions are indeed a nightmare.

AFAIK they will not be changed because its tedious, and more importantly, our collective pain gives Mort sustenance.

Semli

I realize its a lot of tedious work, but non-stacking potions is horrifying whenever I open my inventory. I would consider it a great gameplay improvement, and there's lots of cool ambient loot out there that these esoteric potion names will not be missed.

I only really support having a different name/appearance when the casting level of the potion is different, as is the case with many of the Oils out there.

Hasn't this come up time and time again without any results? I think its a luxus problem, be happy that you get any csw at all instead of complaing that your potions won't stack.

I'm more of the opinion that the relative rarity of them these days is why it's become a genuine problem as opposed to an annoyance. Because unless you have a brewer, you'll be accumulating a few at a time from different, non-stacking sources. You end up with stacks of 3-4 potions all over.

I don't consider it at all a problem for the weaker potions or for long lasting buffs, but CSW/CCWs are the stuff your PC uses in tough situations when you don't want to be swapping things around on your hotbar. Frankly I thought this would be better than suggesting making CSW easier to reliably acquire, as that would have attracted a load of "Stop QQing and powerquest more" snobbery.

Ebok

Ive never noticed a problem.

Disco

Im on team "Keep it simple"
Meaning I would LOVE it if all the potions were of the same type.

Like has already been stated multiple times by dm's and players. Changing this would be a nightmare. The potions aren't rare they're just not dropping like rain anymore.

As for the justification that cure serious wounds potions are the potion you use in tough situations. I'd argue they will hardly save you if you're in a tough situation, more realistically if you're on the back foot and you don't have any Cure Critical Wounds potions you're porbably going to die. Cure critical wounds potions almost always drop in the same type of stack.

The best way to make use of mismatched potions is to keep them all in the same inventory tabs with your most important potions tab open, keep your largest stack of cure serious in your quickslot, but try not to panic and use the smallest stack from your inventory first.

Another survival tip is to organize your potions in bags or containers, then quickslot these for instant opening and access (on my last PC I had one bag for HP recovery, one for buff potions and one for misc. restoratives and herbs and such). You can still quickslot potions from within the container, so all it costs you is 2-3 lbs of extra weight. This also saves you a ton of inventetris when you die!
