New Bardsongs

I might be way off here because I'm not really sure about the mechanics, but my pally/fighter can't hardly scratch a bard of equal level in a straight no potion/item duel when they sing.

Not really sure what song it was, but it put a mollywhomping on me.

My PC has a base 24 AC, 16 STR, an excellent bastard sword, Weapon Focus and IMP CRIT, decent gear, good discipline and concentration and a decent taunt.  

If an unbuffed melee build can't even come close to a bard when they are singing, IMO these new bardsongs are overpowered.

There is no counter to bardsongs that I am aware of, correct?

He wasn't pure bard, and you should have seen his sword too... he was better equiped, higher level and probably a PvP build or something. Bards ain't too powerfull, Drem's a bard too and he fell after four rounds.

I was too. I had a lot of buffs on too. You allowed me to cast blur magic weapon, str, and grace, and sing an curse. So that's explanation.

We were same level, Drakil.  Apparently his build and gear is quite a bit more badass than mine then?  I don't understand how, but oh well.  

And if it was just the basic bard song, then I retract my question about the new songs.

I suppose I can spill out a bard counter / aid for you. Lesser restoration removes curse song effects.

Don't let the bard use his magical songs when fighting in an unbuffed duel maybe?

Also if you're worried about getting challenged to unbuffed duels, particularly as a paladin, most places throughout FR the one challenged sets the term of the duel, not the challenger. So you can easily avoid these silly unbuffed duels.

It was :P and yes, he had the item advantage.

Also, a bard has the advantage of tumble (however, negating the points by using full plate & a towershield... it'd be useless).

Some of the songs are weaker than the base song Gwydion, some are stronger, but they are all situational.

If a chosen of Gaathmar drinks its buff potions, AND its questing buddy use bardsong, It will be overpowered. It could even kill a few pc´s
