I prefer paying myself the lion's share and then handing out whatever arbitrary amount of gold I am feeling generous enough to allow those venturing with me to have. The OOC tool would just create an OOC way of being able to tell if you scammed them out of the gold(based on if they see the gold get quickly handed out/seperated on the ground), which nobody wants.
