Aimed at C/C and amplify mostly. Should these spells not cause the user to take additional damage from sonic? Considering Silence has been modified to make the target invulnerable to sonic damage.

Relinquish

Silence always gives people 100% immunity to sonic damages, that's not a mod here afaik.

Coldburn

Interesting suggestion, but is it really worth implementing? I don't see much Sonic-based damage out there; the sporadity wouldn't warrant a script imo.

Bearic

Shouldn't deaf give sonic protection, and not silence? Unless you make the sonic damager silent that is; probably shouldn't be 100% unless you don't have ear drums either, but that's here and there. =]

This is sort of off-topic, sorry.

I believe the way the Silence spell works is that there are no sounds within the affected area.

Pup

With that logic things like dogs and bats should take extra sonic damage as well, do to their heightened sense of hearing.  I'm not against the suggestion, I'm just saying.

That makes sense; I keep forgetting it's an area of effect spell.

For amplify maybe, not for C/C.

I'd point out that sonic damage probably isn't supposed to be hit point damage caused by hearing trauma, but simply by the actual sound pressure. Logically that sort of pressure would make you deaf instantly, and that's probably why most sonic damage items/spells (basically sound burst and traps) also have a stunning effect. A bit more friendly than permanent deafness, I should think.

Very much agreeing with Pup. What about just players with high static listen/spot? C/C gets you to 15 listen you get drawbacks, static listen 15, no drawbacks?

Next time you're someplace with loud music and an impressive bas/subwoofer rig, go stand close to it and plug your ears as well as you can. Should give you an inkling of what sonic damage is!

...Actually, don't do this without really good ear protection or if you have heart problems or what not <_> but perhaps someone has experienced it, and it gives a very nice idea of the ways sound waves affect you physically. This is why a zone of Silence should protect against sonic damage (it stills the vibrations in the air), but deafness/increased hearing shouldn't.

I think it depends how you're deaf too; people born without ear drums would have no problem with sonic damage, but if you go deaf or slightly so, it wouldn't matter if your ear drums functioned to a degree. The silence thing makes sense to me now, though.
