I think that something that would be fair for druids or non- metal using chars is having a carpenter. He would sell would weapons, they would act a bit like normal weapons but have more flammable vulnerability. There would be stuff like wooden breastplate, wooden half-plate, wooden full-plate, and wooden helmets instead of metal. This stuff would be for a high price but it would be more of a fair thing for druids instead of only using leathers, and druid proficient weapons.

I believe the Rat LEather Breastplate is druid usable, as the description is "leather " there, but I'd prefr a DM call on it. There used to be Shark Scale Mail in the UD druids could use too, and Deep Lizard Mail (chainmail) at the Druid Store.

The crafter of such items would need to be at least a level 11 druid to get the PnP spell Ironwood (lvl 6 spell). Theoretically possible, but I imagine such an npc would be a) very hard to find and b) sell such items at a very high cost.

I also don't think heavy armors are suitable for balance reasons, but perhaps medium armors would add a bit of colour since mundane metal medium armor is available for purchase with relative ease.

edit: and yes - armor made from tough creature hide, bone or scales is probably better for this purpose. Would be good if DMs added property "Material: Blah" to make it obvious that these items are safe for Druids to use. I remember seeing some bone scale mail once that it was questionable whether the whole thing was made of bone or whether it was intertwined with metal scale.

Well right now your thinking only of the ARMOR part. We barely have any druidic weapons not part of the proficeincy. I would be thinking of some guy around in the jungle to the south of zig borders selling exotic hides or weapons usable to druids. We could have what you said like deep lizard mail, or sharkscale items. We could add some cool items like feather helm, grass crown, root staff. These would be good to have for a druid and people who have a very good relationship with the woods.
As you said, he would most likely be a druid and sell more than just wood items. Him being a high lv would prevent certain characters from killing him. It would most likely be a DM event if we would have it.

MisterPAIN

Wooden Fullplate from a carpenter is silly.

Moonthirst

A druid would try making stronger animal armor.

Why don't you just go with Mielikki, her druids can use anyting a ranger would be allowed to use or something, which makes them my super favorites with tower shield, scimitar and chainmail on  <3

Druids have armor restriction not only because it's metal, but also because of balance issues. Hence making heavy wooden armors is probably not appropriate, not mentioning a little weird.

Use barkskin.
