I personally support this faction whole heartedly. Their goals both ICly and OOCly are very reasonable. To give consequences to people who recklessly FD others.

Aessar for one would have kept providing information to Imnan Vather. :P I can say that now since he's dead and gone.

PCs are often afraid of getting "Ganked", but this isn't ganking. It's often very stellar and courteously RP'd murder, and the PCs involved take great steps to ensure there's ample chance to avoid it, and well RP'd out.

I was ganked while I was on the toilet. No harm no foul, your IG your fairgame QQ moar, no problem with it. But there IS ganking.
 
As for the rest of the comments - I disagree, for various reasons, but still greatly respect the characters and players involved and feel no ill-will.

To be quite honest I expected a bit more of a reasoned response to  ending people's lives vs paying a small sum of gold... This has left a sour US vs THEM feeling that I  never wished for this concept.

I'd say that's probably because you're extorting a good chunk of the character base into what they see as paying to resupply an enemy or get FDed, rather than paying him to bugger off. This is a fairly novel idea for EfU conflict resolution, and the sort of thing most factions won't stand for out of general principles. The Ooze cult gave a chance to buy off offences against them, but the one guy who took it up came back swinging at us the next day XD.

Plus of course your PC's worth a bucket of money from the Conclave and loot from the Armada, so he's not just a threat but a juicy target too. PCs could spend the 300-5000 gold on paying you, or they could spend it on supplies in the hope of kicking your guy's ass for more loot.

One good thing I can say about this faction is it stands to put the brakes on a metoric PVP -> Loot -> PVP -> more loot PC rise by taxing it or giving them a ready new enemy.

I was totally wrong! I actually think everyone's been really reasonable and it was just a matter of the faction proving it had the chops to deal with stuff. I would say there's tremendous amount of intrigue to the faction as it stands, and a perplexing number of ethical choices. The faction does advertise brutal one sided death, and by all means, that's how it will roll when ending sending wars.
