One of my favorite commands, in any game, ever, is think. It works really simply. You are roleplaying your character, right? Some people are talking. You suggest you stop talking and get moving.

say "Let's get going already."

But your character thinks:

think "This is boring me to tears; I have a score to settle, no time to waste talking."

On EfU, the think process is internal. In some games, there is an actual command for it. It exists so that nobody else can see what you "thought". It helps the player get into character and the DMs see what his character's motivations behind some actions are and I always found it incredibly useful.

I was wondering what you guys thought about a command like that! All it'd do is write text that only yourself can see - sort of like sending a tell to yourself, or whispering when nobody is near. Would you ever use it, or find it helpful?

Here's a good article on the think command: http://www.kittywumpus.net/pubs/think.html

If DMs would point out that they were to actively listen to your PC's thoughts and act on them, sure.

But outside of, for example, DM quests, I see very little use.

It's more of a tool for the player than the DM, as far as I see it. I personally would wish there was a command like this. There is something very satisfying about having to write something down, rather than just internalize it.

AllMYBudgies

I can understand where you're coming from.
Sometimes, when you're simply stood there idle or plodding about with nothing to say, it would be quite satisfying typing down your characters thoughts.
I'm not sure what other relevance it would have, but I do like the idea.

SilentSouth

I really like this idea! And it can be usefull to DMs aswell as players.

Germain

Hmm...I actually do like this idea.

When I do/did play, I often talk out loud to myself when I know nobody is around... then I feel like a crazy person doing it.

Divine Intervention

So this only goes to the DM's?  Or is it some kind of mind reading pc trick?

Whew, so nice to know I'm not the only one that does this.

It'd only go to DMs (if they chose to enable seeing thoughts player wrote on their end, but I think they should).

We ain't ready for mind-reading, brother.

I was just about to say the same! I feel so silly when I talk to myself all the time, but otherwise it feels so boringly mechanical. >_>

I support this!

Disco

I defenatly do not like it.

Underbard

Maybe just type thoughts into your journal?  Still gives you time to think and you can delete at will.... Just a thought.

Mort

There's a none scripted way of doing at the moment I suppose. ./dm ^My character thinks the following: ^

As for scripting it,Trying to think of a way where it shows of a different color above your head...

Lenthis

Might I add- That perhaps if we were to do this, give pcs with the enchantment sf and gsf perhaps an ablity to subtly touch into another minds and read his thoughts?

Porkolt

If you'd do that, nobody would use the think command because they would be afraid people could hear them.

Or would go around doing some dumb shit like deliberately thinking the wrong thing, which would be worse.
