More time before Alchemy hostile summons

Yeah... if you can't move for completely OOC reasons while something is wailing on you, that sucks.

No, from what I'm reading, I think I understood it correctly the first time. The part that I'm souring on is the bit where you apparently have to buff yourself and summon nine hells worth of help to try out a new recipe for beer because there's some off chance you're going to spawn something that's going to kill you.

I've only just started playing around with the new system, but I find it incomprehensible as it is. No combination of anything I've tried seems to produce anything of any worth, and the idea that I could kill myself by just fooling around, well, kind of sucks.

It's not exactly fair to call it a matter of "too cowardly to take the risks," when the reagents involved -- reagents that you don't get to keep after a failed experiment -- are themselves only attainable from exposing yourself to danger in the first place. After a certain point it just seems like piling on.

Maybe I'm missing out on some great fun. But when all I'm reading about is how many different ways I can accidentally end my character, and I'm not seeing any results in game, it doesn't exactly sound like something that I want to pursue.

Small reagents, small failures on low DC items will probably only summon small creatures. I know when I was randomly experimenting I accidentally summoned an earth mephit once. Rare reagents for big nasty potions of immortality and stuff are going to have nasty side-effects for failure... like... Balors, which may or may not kill half the server, lol

Just know that you're not just brewing beer, you're messing with the laws of physics to make beer, and said beer is magical. Essentially, you're telling the laws of physics to shut up and sit down while you do something, and it may or may not respond violently with planar rifts.

Gippy

There are no balors anymore. Beer, as far as I know, will never kill you.  As soon as you start dealing with planar regents though there are serious risks -- people HAVE made some incredible things however.

VanillaPudding

The Balor never killed me, oddly enough, but there are other things as well that have about 25 AB and smash you while you're OOCly locked on the table still. I don't really see the issue with fixing the timer to be a couple seconds less.

QuoteI died twice by being locked to the table -while something with massive AB hit me- ,

This sounds like a bug then, are you sure it didn't knock you down or stun you?  In my experience the moment the reaction concludes, the monster appears and the alchemist is free to move at the same time.

It doesn't work that way, people shouldn't complain if they threw in demon genitalia to "try a beer recipe" and something awful gets summoned.  Stick to stuff that's appropriate for beer and this would never happen.

PlayaCharacter

Okay, that sounds much more reasonable. Thanks for clearing that up, folks.

As soon as something gets summoned you should have the chance to flee, however. And i meant just as soon.
