This is an awsome quest as i love puzzles, and i really do like the new twist that has been done to it, adding a new disk to the starting pillar each time you replay the quest.

Only thing is, when you get to 6 pillars on the starting quest, its really REALLY hard, and im not complaining cause i love a challenge but it would be cool if there was a reset button so if you screw up you can push it which then sets all the disks back to the original pillar.

And maybe only let a PC use the reset button once per quest so it doesnt get abused idk, just a suggestion.

Johannes

This is a cool idea. If I remember it, I'll install a lever the next time that I get the chance.

Porkolt

Wow.

You know, the perfect algorithm for solving this puzzle isn't that hard, and even then it's difficult to bring up the patience for solving the 6-disc version, let alone 7 or 8 (never did bother to try wether tere was more!).

I can only imagine how tedious it might turn out to be if you don't know that algorithm and are going by trial and error.

I commend your patience.

Nightshadow

I finished 9 once, would have done 10 if not for me reaching level 7 on that character, lol

SilentSouth

I managed to do 5 through trial and error, but when it gets to 6 and you mess up, its too time consuming to try and fix it back yourself, thanks man, that lever would be pretty darn cool.

Conan The Conqueror

Regardless of reset, once you get to 9 disks, the time investment is pretty big. I think the fastest you can do 9 is 1 hour and 45 mins with zero mistakes and constant movement. I haven't attempted 10 yet just because of the time factor. I'll harvest your gardens instead and sell the fruit back to you.

Reset could be pretty handy, though not sure what you mean by "abuse"

SilentSouth

I suppose abuse was the wrong word to use, more piss taking, if someone else was waiting to take the quest and you where on 9 disks and had to reset then it would take like another hour or so as you said.
I dunno would just be a nice feature to add.

Nightshadow

The time it takes to complete doubles with each disk added. That one time I did it with 9 disks I had solved 1 or 2 of them (and so was well over halfway done, as solving 1 disk means you're halfway done) and the DM is like "Reset time, ask if you need a delay!" and I was like "NOOOOO! DELAY DELAY DELAY!" lol

Anyway, a reset lever would be nice for those who haven't figured out how this works.

I have never completed that quest. I'm half retarded. So that might have done it! But nonetheless algorhym? Huh? Can someone explain how to do this?

The puzzle that this quest uses (quite brilliantly; I loved stumbling across this quest in the game) is an in-game representation of a puzzle that was created by a mathematician. There is an allegory to solve it. I'd rather not blurt the name of the puzzle here, just to keep from spoiling the trick for anyone, but you'd probably have better luck Googling "Bioware puzzle." Or I can just PM you.

If anyone understands what I'm talking about, cheers for being a geek.

Seanzie

Oh! My fathers a math teacher! I'll ask tha fool! Lol but thank you I don't mind it being ruined. Because I've wasted hours of my life guessing what to do:o

Kotenku

He'll have to be pretty bright to know the allegory to solve this math puzzle.

Seanzie

Yeah he will, and from my iPhone looking at it, he's not:O

9lives

The puzzle is obviously an allegory for the French Revolution, years 1789 - '99
