Sons of Sabuth wage

I'd like to see regular Sons of Sabuth get a small faction wage. One of the primary agendas of these regular Sons is to recruit and maintain a "secondary" gang under themselves, assuming they want to advance in the faction, and that can be a very difficult thing to do without any extra support.

The Docks are poor overall and the wage does not need to be much, perhaps a 4-5 GP / 27 minutes thing (where as stygians and court members receive quite a bit more), with Favored Sons receiving a little more to further promote the growth and maintenance of what they have already created.

Dr Dragon

Completely disagree.

Until the Sons of Sabuth start enforcing a tax on all the merchants I do not see how they can get the coins to pay for all of the soldiers.

The Stygians enforce a tax as well as get coins from people who pay 4000 coins for Patricianship. While the Sons of Sabuth are a loose band of gangs who dont seem to be collecting taxes. It doesent make sense that the Sons of Sabuth would afford to pay wages.

Echigo

DRD, plenty of places they can receive coin for wages. Like, I don't know, raids and muggings? Or donations? Where else would they get their coin from? Don't be so closed minded.

Go team Sabuth!

Admittedly, I'm biased.  Still, I think it is a good idea.

Porkolt

If I'm not mistaken, Favoured Sons get a wage. Says so in their job description, anyway.

VanillaPudding

Yeah, they do, but the suggestion is about the regular sons.

Porkolt

I'm well aware of that, thank you.

Merely pointing out that, if you desperately need a wage, it certainly is something you can work towards.

Dr Dragon

If the Sons want wages so much they are free to embrace the freedom of the Docks and rob people in it. There are barely any favored sons and are bad asses who have proven themselves, so them getting a wage makes sense. However it makes no damn sense that the Sons have accumulated enough wealth in a piss poor district to pay all of their members with a salary.

Really If the Sons are getting wages then the wages of the Armada and lords needs to double or go up to reflect that working in a law enforcement agency backed by taxes and numerous funds can afford to pay their workers.

Yeah, the general idea of the whole suggestion is that working towards it kind of requires extra gold / the means to support a player faction under you. It's an ironic situation that could be slightly alleviated by a small wage fitting of the docks.

Thomas_Not_very_wise

I'd be in support of a small wage.

Porkolt

BTW, as an extra point for everyone shouting that the Dominion is way richer than the Docks so Sons shouldn't get a wage.

Dominion citizens do not pay tax. Any income the Dominion receives is derived from trade and industry, and then there's the fee for Patricians and the (frankly ridiculous but OOC understandable) rule that banked assets of the deceased pass into ownership of the Dominion.

Frankly, the main economic difference between the Dominion and Docks is that the gap between rich and poor is much larger. Poor peoples of the Dominion migrate to the Docks because they have little choice in the matter. That doesn't mean there aren't any succesful enterprises in the Docks.

In short, the Docks are not a piss poor district as far as total economy goes, it's just where all the beggars live.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think it actually is a piss-poor district in general.  Even the Sons of Sabuth NPCs are down on their luck, or so I'm led to believe.  When you see a seagull mug an orphan, you know you're in the Docks.
