Awesome read, but I couldn't help adding my 2cents.

Sometimes loosing is winning: So what if you FAILED?! So what if your character died? YOU contributed to a server dynamic. You made this world more complicated, more real, more intriguing and intoxicating to play. When I play efu, I want to feel like I am high on drugs and capable of creating a world where my imagination can really shine. You know what? Sometimes the most fun I had on characters are ones who failed to achieve their goal. I can give you numerous examples, I'll leave it as is. An enjoyable defeat is sometimes more amazing than an awkward victory. Play to win, AND loose. This way everyone is pleased with the outcome.

I think it's worth emphasizing that you can be a cool PC that takes initiative, even in someone else's faction. Don't try to make a million separate factions. If you notice another faction with similar goals, merge your faction with them, or join them instead of making your own faction! To speak from experience, Proverson was a part of two factions before people knew who he was, and could only have become successful from the contacts he made in them.

Who was proverson?

I was going to troll this thread, but I just can't bring myself to.  All of this is great advice from a great player.

Sticky this in my opinion.
"So what else is on your mind besides 100 proof women, 90 proof whisky, and 14 karat gold?"
"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

"Maybe there's just one revolution.  The good guys against the bad guys.  The question is, who are the good guys?"

(Yeah, I actually wanted to post you lose. But I have to share Pup's sentiment.)
