EFU:A DMs and Players,

Greetings, I first begin playing NWN on the CoA server, and created one of my favorite character named Tiver Neehigh back in 2002. I was dragged into playing NWN PWs by a great friend of mine SevereMeltdown, who I lived with also in Oklahoma. The very moment I hit play and created Tiver Neehigh I was hooked. When I wasn't going to school, work,or playing a PnP D&D game with friends, I was playing NWN.

It wasn't long before Howland had created EFU and started the Alpha and Beta testing. SevereMeltdown told me of Howland's creation, and I fell in love with EFU instantly. I still think on the moments past the first loading screen and spawning into the deep underdark, and then sprinting to the city known as Sanctuary. All characters started as ex-slaves running for their lives to survive the dangers of the underdark. It was a thrilling experience.

I was infatuated with the underdark ever since a good friend of mine, now just a memory, introduced me to Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and R.A. Salvatore. I was 16 years old then and now one year from calling myself 30. I recall my imagination was struck by a spark that sent my world aflame with possibilities.

My first character on EFU was a Mindi Davis who was a monk of Shar seeking entrance into the local order in the underdark. Mindi's friend was... the player was PanamaLane, I don't think I recall that perfectly right. He played a slaver, and cleric I think. Him and Mindi had a disagreement outside the Order of the Dark Moon. Mindi ran crying for Sanctuary, the DM gave Mindi a chance to kill her friend and potions. The underdark is a dangerous place and that was my very first PvP, I lost.

Since Mindi I've had many supporting characters that helped plots move further. I've assisted handfuls of new players, and have enjoyed watching their plots develop and even taking part as support, or helped iron out the rough parts of plots or applications.

I have made many great friends here on EFU and EFU:A, and I have very fond memories of the stories, characters, and areas we've discovered together.

It is with great sadness and best wishes when I say I must retire from EFU:A and NWN. I have to focus on my family, work, and Masters program now.

To Howland thank you and the DM staff that have participated in producing such amazing and unforgetable stories over the years. I take my hat off to you.

To my friends and players, thank you for including me and joining in on my wild, insane, and mostly unsuccesful ideas. I've enjoyed a lot of laughs, tons of frustration, and tearful happiness.

To EFU, a simple thank you.

To the future new players, remember you make the world. Also its just a game, an amazing and sometimes life enriching game.

Love you all, and you can still reach me on the forums, and I will pop onto IRC when I can. It is with hope that I leave now only to return in the future. If athletes can come out retirement so can NWN players.

Peace out,

Will Womack - UnholyWon

It's sad, but real life does come first.

I still remember Kyle Brair, Tiefling Cleric of Kelemvor.  When I started playing on EfU, my first character was Melrick.  Kyle and Melrick hooked up, and became fast friends - referring to themselves as brothers.  Unfortunately, IC events eventually led Melrick and Kyle to be at odds.

Melrick had sold his soul to a devil, and confided this information in Kyle.  Paranoia about the devil always watching, and fearful that his secret would get out, he attempted to turn Kyle toward the devil without success.  This ultimately ended with Melrick having to kill Kyle, which was a turning point for the character and a spiral downhill for him (mentally).

Kyle was the first EfU character I've ever killed, and for Melrick he was the first of many he would kill directly or indirectly.  He was taken and sacrificed to the devil, with the intent of punishing him for his refusal to serve.  I then got my most awesome piece of DM loot ever, only because of its flavor and meaning to the character, "The Charred Heart of Kyle Briar."

That item allowed my character to summon a shadow 1 / day, whom was presumably Kyle Briar.  This was used awesomely in RP afterwards despite the shadows insane combat weakness.  Numerous characters would eventually sell their souls to avoid Kyle's fate.

:(

It's so sad to see you go (temporarily!), but I just wanted to say that you've played a defining role in getting me hooked into EfU.  I still look back on my favorite EfU moments and rank our time together as Kyle and Melrick as some of my most favorite and best.

Keep on being awesome.  I hope things go well for you with your family and your masters, and hope to see you back around EfU sometime in the future.

Oh man, I understand completely, life is important.  I'm going to grad school now as well, hence my comparatively sparse playing.

Best of luck and I hope you return to this magical "place".

Sad to see you go, but I totally understand. Life happens.
