Hey guys me and a few people where in the tower of mercy quest last night and i was just thinking the electric towers are way over powerd, im not sure if its desinged to zap at many people but when it is just targeted on one person (myself) it was spamming electric atleast once a second hitting 20+

Everyone else on my team died, and they kept trying to respawn and get thier stuff but would then die instantly from the tower zapping them, one of the stygan guards got angry and perma died, the others went back to lvl 2.

I was lvl 7 so i had many hit points and once i got into a safe area i had to logg otherwise i would virtually be throwing my hard earned stuff away. As everyone else in the party left me i was on my own.

We where quite litterally toast.

Any suggestions on this matter?

Ordeal

It's an ironic name.

The Electricallly boobytrapped doorway in an area, or the Obelisks that spam magical damage near the entrance? Or the other obelisks at *spoiler*? Or another device entirely?

The obelisks at the entrance are hardly OP, you just run. They are however a pest if someone dies as unless you all spam powerful healing on them, they can be re-killed easily.  Also, it's not exactly easy to move bodies out or collect packs either, as you're lumbering under heavy fire.

What might be fair is to have a way to temporarily deactivate them that requires repeatedly activating some item on the far side of the room. It wouldn't be a sensible mechaism to help people to run in and out, as you'd be quicker to run. It would, however, let a party  recover from a near TPK by allowing a safe respawn .

Yes thats a really good idea, it was the obby in the room where loads of zombies are, a switch to temporarily de activate it would be usfull as it would require team work.

After getting all the way through only for everyone to get crushed mercilessly at the end, I have to say my first impression is that I love it and wouldn't want to change a thing.

*edit* Maybe never ending zombie spawns?

Oh, you were in the lobby there, and it was seeing you from the previous area, but the spawns trapped you in? Ouch Happened to me.  That is a bug IMO. If it's supposed to be that you're on different levels of the tower, the obelisks should not be able to see you once you've gone through.

EDIT: I don't think you're taking about the same thing there. There is one area where the obelisks obviously are meant to crush you in a lobby. There is also a random level that due to the map positioning is in sight of the obelisks by the first portal. This random level has Zombies, not the special Tower spawns.

It is a really awsome quest its just very tricky you need to be well prepared, i just think that idea with the switch alowing you to temporarily disable it if a fallen team mate is in range is a good idea.

Another thing that happened to me was on the bit where you swing through the electric i failed the tumble (silly me forgot to remove armour) and was k'dd inside the electric field, electric was then spammed on me till i died i couldnt even get my stuff back but that was a while a go now. The quest is real intense.

I'm not sure I understand what part is actually being discussed.

The start portal has one functioning obelisk.

There's a room with zombies, if you're getting zapped by by any obelisk there that is definitely a bug.

At the very end if you go INTO the mega-death optional area, two obelisks BEHIND you activate to prevent you from retreating/luring the monsters back out into the central chamber. Basically if you decide to do the big fight, you have to commit to it.

If you win, there's an alternate exit that makes it so you don't have to deal with any obelisks at all.

If you don't win, I can indeed imagine a party gets screwed and probably would need a DM to properly recover. But that's the risk you take if you decide to take on the optional part that has major rewards and heavy OOC warnings associated with it.

There's also a part where if you fail some (very low) tumble checks you will get zapped, but I reduced the damage some time back and I doubt it needs further adjustment.

Howland. The room with the zombies is in range of the obelisk by the start portal. I have had team members hit by it on two runs. They were standing there and hit more than once, it wasn't some sort of lag bug delayed reaction from the shot.

Yeah thats what happened to me, and the two guys with me died and every time they where getting up they would just die instantly, i was running out trying to get thier stuff and getting zapped 4 or 5 times.

I'm not complaining by the way it makes the quest real intense and fun, maybe the damage could be lowered a slight bit, im lvl 7 with 99 HP and even i had a hard time.
