The title say it all. This may be a stupid suguestion but I am going to do it anyway.Currently there are not ALOT of high lvl quests out there. And yes I know some are not done so often. But you do not always have the 2-4 houers to complet certain of them. Perhaps instead of making quests long. Make them hard to reach.. How about a quest in the desert perhaps? Anyway just an idea.. Discuss.

Staring Death

Making them far and hard to reach or making them long boils down pretty much to the same in my book: it takes a lot of time to do.

I think high level quests are fine as they are. Last thing we need is powergamers quest training beyond 8/9.

Perhaps make it so that a lvl 10+ will get like 100 xp pr high lvl quest. But you still get to hang out with people on quests, and find some loot.
OFten when you get high lvl you will get bored with your character since your mates run off to quest, and you just have to stand arround not being able to join them.

And yes LPFF I agree.. People lvl FAR FAR too fast... Also there are too many CCW pots on lizard quest XD.

There are a billion low level and mid level quests for all types of characters.  I don't really see the harm in adding higher end quests too.  Some PCs can't or shouldn't even do some of the higher end quests that right there limits you.  I like the idea of adding them to the deserts and maybe other islands you could sail to? Just a thought you know but perhaps more ruins uncovered?  The Underdark is so very very rarely used why not just ditch it.  Most of the time DMs want to be around when it is done so they could always make their own adventure for the Underdark, imo.  It would free up space to add more areas where the module is truely focuses anyways.

Just because there are more high end quests doesn't mean people will do them all, as you see now people don't often do certain ones anyways.  If a person wants to spam quests to make L11 or whatever they will do it anyways and not to be rude but it's not hard at all to make L10 if you set your mind to spamming quests daily.

Make better friends IC then. Thats all I can say really. There are those of the 9+ crowd who don't go questing yet offer quality roleplay.

I think higher level quests (10+) should award something other than XP. Maybe you could have a quest where completing it unlocks a merchant, allows you entry into some part of the server you would otherwise have a difficult time accessing, or grants you some hint about the server's deeper lore.

Alchemical reagents?
Recipes and formulas?
Gaeseric's mother's maiden name?

The possibilities are endless.

There's high lvl quests in UD still. Go do those. And buy potions to XXX on the way. ;)

Not that i'm opposed to more high lvl quests, but they ought to be really challenging, not used to hoard more supplies and get to higher levels even faster.

As for CCW drops, don't get used to it.

Last time I went to the UD I was very much given the impression you should only go there for a greater reason, like a plot or to uncover lore/machine info etc... not to spam quests.

I like Lulzebub's idea.  Something like that would be cool.  Also, you can say just make better friends but often your friends will be seeking to quest and if you can't go and you play non-peak times you will be sitting there... alone.  Thats not fun, at all.

Yalta

Mine was the oringal post on LPFF link. Its certainly better than it was (orcs 2 etc). But all lvl 10 quests are very long.

Would be good to have some shorter ones, just as we did in the UD.

Personally, this is supposed to be a low level/low magic server and I believe that once you cross over the level 10 threshold, you become a mid-level/mid-magic range.

The quests for these elite characters should be long, difficult to reach and really test their mettle. Most characters that reach this level have decent equipment already so the rewards for these quests should be equally elite though not consumables heavy unless they are truly rare potions (greater bulls, accuracy, sludge drinks).

I think if you reach or surpass level 10, you really should be doing something much bigger for the server or at least be involved in something that involves more people

wcsherry

Sure, we could always use more.

Edit: The reason L10+ quests need to be very long, is to balance out the fact that wizards have spells that will absolutely crush them to pieces if we keep them short, so don't expect that to change if we do add more.

Thomas_Not_very_wise

Why not design a quest that constantly spams Dispel? Or better yet...WILD MAGIC quest!
