Hi , I was just curious as to the general experience rates on this server? Im comeing from another server that has a slow experience rate and a generaly harsh death system so im just wondering what its like here.

EFU, and now EFU:A were both designed to allow for quick leveling -- to a point. that is, we do not force people to hang around in the 1-4 range, being useless. It is possible to get to L4 in a matter of hours, and is not much harder to get to the 6+ ranger. However, at about L8 it will become harder to level.

L9-10 is doable, but is hard. L11 has been reached by only a handful of PC's.

And this server will in all probability kill you a couple times. Especially if you're new to the difficulty. So hang in there. :)

XP, however, is not in the least the main focus of play on this server! Please keep that in mind.

Alright thank you :) Im going to have to add i think what happens when you die? Im seeing allot of this and this person has died and it sounds like they may mean permenent with how they make it sound with there screen shots...maybe its story deaths or somesuch?

I did read the death system but this just put some general questions in my mind.

((EDIT))

Ok someone answerd it before this was posted sort of lol Also id like to note i know that its not the main goal as a RP server iv spent the last 4-5 years on a server where leveling was so slow and dangerous to do i often ended up not leveling much at all lol. I think in 4 years i got past level 6 with 1 character. Im more likely to be the sit around the fire type than the questing or killing type generaly.

You can be "killed" in a quest or fight or whatever. You basically get sent to an "afterlife" screen. A bag appears where you fell, as well as a model of your character lying prone. So you will be in the "Fugue" plane, without your items or equipment.

Here you will have a couple options.

You can respawn where you died. (but whatever killed you might still be there to eat you, so pm the people on the quest so they can tell you when it's safe.) If you do this, you show up where the "dead model" of you was, and can pick up your bag of items. This is normally RPd as knocked out or injured in combat, instead of actually dying.

Or you can respawn at a couple locations that it will let you choose from. But you wont have your items (but you will be in a safe place with rags and stuff)

-------

If you are killed by another PC, or if a DM tells you you cannot respawn, it means you have been really KILLED. or basically, due to the game's story, you are now dead.

You can still be resurrected if your body is found, but normally it means its time to roll up another PC. Ask a DM in a case by case basis if you have questions.

----

You can also choose not to come back to life when you die. This is another way to be permadead. It means, that you werent knocked out or anything, that you're done playing the PC, and that you'd like to stay dead and roll up another character or whatever.

Alright thanks for the information everyone :)

I would say that in a practical sense, it depends on what quests you do, and when. Experience is different based on your level, which means that at level 3 you'll get more experience from a quest than a level 6 person. There are also other ways to get experience besides killing monsters and questing. Two of the most prominent and obvious would be from animals, either skins or meat, or just from exploring new areas. You may notice when you enter an area you've never been before, a message pops up stating that you've gotten some experience. These totals are static, so whatever your level you'll get, I think, 100xp for setting foot on the Ziggurat, and that sort of thing. My best advice for leveling quickly is to make friends with like-minded players (it is not hard at all to make friends in this server), and just follow until you're ready to try your hand at leading.

Well i tend to make things hard for my self so leveling will be slow one way or another for me lol. I enjoy a character thats hard to play and often is not accepted by many people without trust game from both side. I guess i just wanted to know if it was like some places where you max out in a week or less lol.

To me i lose some sence of progression if i level to fast also the reason for making things hard on purpose for me is for the sake of RP. Ile probably end up playing a non combat character or a character in some way crippled even if not physicaly.

But thank you for your responce :). Im likeing the look of this server more and more as i read and hear from people :).

It's difficult at first and you're bound to die eventually as you level, but don't let it deter you. Welcome, by the way!

XP gain is easy, XP loss is easy. You'll see soon enough. welcome and enjoy the game.

80% of the XP you'll gain comes from scripted quests, arround 15% from DM granted XP bonus and the rest from killing things in the wild, selling animal pelts or whatever. In other words, the way of leveling is by questing, and you really won't if you don't.

One can reach level 5 in the first playing session if one knows the server. Since you probably don't, you can still reach level 4 easily. If you have a good questing group, it is easy to reach level 7, otherwise it will take you some time. I suggest you join a faction if you want to reach this level fast. Levels 8 & 9 are very hard to achieve. I've never reached level 8 with any of my characters. Levels 10 & 11 are VERY rare.

When you die you lose 1/3 of your experience points, this usually means, at low levels you loose all the acomulated XP, at medium levels you loose a level and some XP (You can and will de-level) and at high levels you can loose 2 levels and probably more.

If you are raised from the death, the XP penalty becomes 1/6 of your current XP. You can be ressurected by an NPC if your friends take you there, but it's very expensive. You can also be ressurected, wich drops the penatly to 1/9 of your XP (next to nothing) but is extremly expensive by NPC service.

DMs can ressurect you for no XP loss. This is usually done when your death was due to a bug or glitch and the DM witnessed it.

Send me a tell if you have any questions, or a PM.
