Hi, I'm in Kyrgyzstan, one of the many Stans, such as Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Stanistan, Pakistan, and Sucksmuchistan.  We're on a transient Air Force base awaiting military transportation to Bagram in Afghanistan.  It's alright here, we're tentatively scheduled to fly out of here tonight at like 3am or something ridiculous.

I probably won't have game access in Afghanistan, but I'll be able to lurk.  I'll miss you guys while I'm gone and hopefully we're running strong in summer of 2010.

Thanks, everyone!

I'm now in Afghanistan at a place called Bagram.  What a hell hole.  It's in a big valley 'bowl'  In 360 degrees, there are huge, snow capped mountains.  Planes constantly taking off and landing, jets flying low overhead, helicopters.  All kinds of construction, everywhere.  They've covered all of the ground that isn't a street with big gravel chunks, because it's better than walking in talcum powder dust 6 inches deep.  My throat is sore and my sinuses are very sad and it has nothing to do with germs.

I live in a shack/hut right off the runway, pretty much so I hear everything that takes off.  It's a 7ftx7ft room (read 49 square feet) with no closet.  Walls are made of plywood with 2x4 supports.  Security is provided by the combo lock I bought.

I don't get to talk much about what I actually do, suffice to say it mostly deals with warning our coalition guys when the Taliban and friends are up to something and siccing folks after those on our Wanted List.  I'm the day manager, so I have to cover down on about 5 different positions.  At least I won't be bored.

Internet access at the speed of dial-up is available, so I'll be able to check in.  Maybe even try to log on once in a while and stand there, lagging :)  Should be chat-able soon.

I'll keep everyone updated here, from time to time.  Again, thanks for the warm wishes.  See ya'll later.
