Animal Domain Summoning

I'm not entirely sure how summoning works but the 1st level summon with animal domain costs 30 points even though you are only allotted 10 points at level 1. So basically it seems like with animal domain, you can't summon the monster that corresponds to your most powerful monster available without having SF conjuration.  Even then, it seems like according to some calculations that you would need GSF conjuration.

Example:

Let's say Damien hits level 5 (50 summoning points).  He should be able to summon creature III but since it is actually IV because of animal domain the cost would be 70 points.  Now since he only has 50 allotted summon points, he cannot summon it.  If Damien has SF conjuration, the cost would be 70*(.75) since it reduces cost by 25%. So basically it would cost around 53 points and he still would not be able to summon III.  Only with GSF conjuration can he summon that spell.

So basically the bug seems to be that the summoning system is based on the power of the summon rather than the level of the spell.

I have GSF conjuration on my malarite with animal domain. At level 5 i am able to summon lvl 3(4) summons with space for a lvl 1 summon alongside such.

This isnt a bug, its to stop people being horrendously overpowered.

So what you are saying is that you need two feats to use the summon that you should be able to cast without the feats. I understand that they are more powerful but that is the benefit of the domain. I asked a DM and they directed me here.

The issue arose some while back: yes it seems you need to take spefcific feats to be able to summon your school's theme creatures.

I would certainly would like this changed. If a lvl 5 illusionnist can't use the summon III spell with the illusion theme regeant, without specific feats, it's a bit of a shame.
