Do many people use this calender?
I see there is a weekly crime wave day now..

TheWastesAreFrozen

Never even really looked at the thing until you posted this. I'd guess not but IDK

Drakill Tannan

THere is a calendar?

Stop using this for IC events. It's not related to IG timekeeping.

No shit dude, you made it.

Conan The Conqueror

That's pretty silly to say it can't be used for IC events. There are numerous ways to work around time differentials. The calendar can serve as a quick reminder for events posted in IC forums as well as events like preludes.

mwahaha, yes I did make the crimewave event.
But hey at least I am using it.

Hmmm....nothing like constructive posts, right Porkolt?  Just makes me want  to app for a giant/troll/ogre to eat PCs of  extra-smart posters like this (Porkolt), just to make the forums a more civil place.  Trolls for Trolls, what a fine idea!

P.S.  That calender IS cool and I think it should get more use!

Peace! :)

IxTheSpeedy

I had no idea we had a calender.  How cool.

ExileStrife

It is pretty much totally unmoderated, and there's no strict ruling about what IC or OOC stuff can go there.  I don't have a problem with people exploring it and using it how they wish.  We'll take issues with it as they come up.

Simple example:

The whole 'weekly' thing. First of all, the FR calendar is divided into months of three tendays (no weeks), second, even if the FR calendar did have weeks, one week OOC time does not correspond to one week IC time, therefore naming something 'weekly' on this calendar would only make it weekly OOC, not weekly IC.

This is the thing that demonstrates an issue that can come up quite easily and actually is a big issue for me.

Furthermore, as ExileStrife said, no moderation. Which is also an issue.

Garem

Not a fan, to be honest. What does "Weeky (sic) Crime Wave Day" mean? Why is it dominating every Wednesday of every month? Why isn't this reflecting any ACTUAL in-game material, either on the forums or notes scattered around?

It's first major use is already questionable to me. Maybe it is salvagable, as hbns is attempting to do. But I sure wouldn't have looked there if it wasn't for this post. I'd just like to see an explicit statement of "This is OOC material" or otherwise.

If someone wanted to make a project out of it and put up important Forgotten Realms dates for festivals and such, but turn off player posting, I could see that being very interesting and helpful!

sylvyrdragon

I don't mind the OOC usage.. but it would be nice if it had some IG relivance.

Seeing major events put in, like 'fight nights',tournements, or planned meetings.  The calender is helpful with planning these things in advance.

As for the FR calender not matching this one.  Well, that is easy, WE don't ACUTALLY live in the forgotten Realms. When planning real life time to make events or things you would like to have a real life calender.

ScottyB

Sometimes I think using FR dating schemes is more trouble than it's worth. If no one got on my case for replacing dates with ((12 June 2009)) and crap, no one should be complaining about events being put up on a real life calendar.

Tedium is not immersive.
