A Who's Who IC info source.

I'd like to suggest that there be some type of PC/NPC Who's Who of Prominent Folks that can found IG from NPC conversation, or perhaps in the first post of the IC Gossip/Events thread that the DMs continually update.

When I started playing EfU about 3 years ago, I really liked the NPC section that talked about all the prominent figures.  The Captain.  Gaesseric the Unyielding.  Adelia Tyrell.  Commander Barkely.  Unfortunately, and likely because it's a tiresome task to maintain it, it was not updated as it evolved.

Whether it's an OOC page here in the forums, an IC converstion with an NPC inkeep or whatever, it would be nice for new characters.  I'd even suggest a modest reward for finding this stuff out, similar to Adelia Tyrell's old interaction about the structure and history of Sanctuary.

Also, it can be a way to permanently enshrine notable PCs and NPCs that have made a lasting impact on the new setting even after they are dead.  I think it's more impressive than having a doll of a character in a curio shop or having a street named after them, but maybe that's just me.

An NPC scripted conversation also explains why new PCs would know basic things without trying to force another character to explain things to you for the umpteenth time.

You're not a real badass until a squatters' haven/auction house has been named after you, anyways.

While this is an OOC suggestion, and a good one at that, it could also be done IG if someone really wanted to. Actually, my character... might... I dunno. Busy doing other things. Remind me OOCly and perhaps I'll get around to it.

I still support the OOC thing though.

What about taking the announcement system, and crossbreeding it with a drunk hobo/bard, who stands in the inn and, for a fee, will occasionally repeat whatever you tell him. Until the next reset, or someone comes and pays him more to shut up. ;-)
