Hailing from the Deserts from the Anauroch, to the Raurin Desert of Mulharand, and upon the Isle of Ymph, lies a reptilian breed of Lycanthrope that has often sent many adventurers to a slow, poisonous death.

Best pic I could find, <.<
Information:

QuoteWeresnakes are solitary, cruel, and devious. Often seeking greater treasures for themselves at the expense of others. They are sensitive to sharp changes to hot or cold, often seeking the stable temperatures of caves and caverns, where they hold treasures, or their experiments.

They are reluctant to leave any territory they reside in, often defending such places to the death. It's territory is all it has, it perceives, and will usually never consider moving farther away once it's established a home.

A good deal of the Weresnake's time is in hiding, only going out to feast upon the unfortunate prey it captures, more often than not alive. Like the snake, it can devour creatures several times it's size, the glut upon it's belly allowing it to extend like a round ball. After such feasts, it is not unknown for the weresnake to sleep for a week or more, before it's body digested it's kill enough for it to continue it's study, for months on end. Often times, when food is unavailable, it is faced with a choice. Does it enter human settlements, and risk exposure by kidnapping any young it finds to devour, and to find it's home sacked, or does it allow itself to starve of death, in a vain hope that prey will come by soon?

During such long exiles, the weresnake finds time to hone it's skills in the weave, or fill it's lair with traps in order to protect it's home. Such times allow it to excel as a rogue or mage.

As time progresses, the weresnake often takes on serpentine qualities. It's eyes become Serpentine, and a third eyelid is often seen to allow for a seemingly endless stare. It's skin is scaly to the touch, though not overly so. They often appear frail, and it speaks with a silibant hiss, and the oldest of their kinds have forked tongues, and truly appear more snake than human.

In the rare occasions, such weresnakes begin cults amongst human followers, who believe them to be a divine representation of Set, placed upon this world to further his own ambition.

Chances it'll get denied. But hey- It's an idea.

Drakill Tannan

I liked the werefrog more.

The Boom King

I think this would be a really cool subrace.

Wern8

I do not think this will be a good subrace. Why not more non-monstrous races?

Lascivious

I like the fact that it allows you to cast, actually.

I've suggested this before. I think it's an excellent idea. Still, I don't think it needs its own suggestion. If you think you have a good app for a weresnake, fire away brosef.

FleetingHeart

While interesting.... I don't see how this would be remotely fun for any PC to play.

It establishes a home... a very small and limited territory, by all descriptions... then spends it's life there waiting for food to come to it. It has absolutely no adventerous qualities. Great monster to maybe build a quest around, or a plot even... but as a PC it sounds incredibly boring :-\

Thomas_Not_very_wise

It's coming to Ymph would be an almost suicidal drive to return home. Or the establishment of a new territory. In this, this place is RIFE with many things the weresnake would wish and want, so it's main priority is acquisition for the event it returns home. While they have an affinity for snakes, and might even specialize in training them. Snakes are typically docile, and rather not fight if given the choice, the same thing is said for the weresnake, it's deadliness lies in patience, and a cold poison beneath your foot.

Egon the Monkey

Werebeast is already far and away the most popular subrace. We don't need more flavours of it IMO, unless we can get Werelions or Werebears who are usually LG and would therefore be rather different. They'd have Good aims in mind but be likely to come into conflict with Evil and misguided Good and Neutral PCs alike.

BrittanyPanthas

To be honest, while I like the 'idea' of there being Good aligned Lycanthropes in the Forgotten Realms setting, Egon, of which many belong to the church of Selune, Nobanion, etc. They don't seem to fit well in the EfU setting.

To me monsters should be monstrous, and good aligned ones just kind of give the same feel that good-aligned Drow prancing around naked in cities with dual Scimitars would.

Wern8

I do not think that good aligned Lycanthropes are at all as terrible as good aligned Drow characters prancing about, it is truly quite different! And I believe there has been good aligned Lycanthrope PCs on the server.

While I wouldn't mind seeing the Werelion subrace or another good aligned lycanthrope subrace being added, I do think that we do not need any more monstrous races and honestly, I feel that there has been too many monster PCs on EFU:A. I am not saying that we should get rid of them though, but no extra monster race is really necessary.

The Beggar

Were-Supermodel, that's what we need.

And yeah Wern8, absolutely agree with the too many monstrous PCs on EfUA.

Equinox

If anything was to be added, i'd vote for were-lion. LG werecreature ftw.

However wern is right. we need -less- monster races not more.
