Reminder About Spice

Just a reminder. Spice is never some kind of OOC punishment. We do it because players enjoy it.

When we spice a quest, we will attempt to give some kind of warning that a DM is there. Remember that our AI is clever, so just because the monsters are acting intelligently, doesn't mean that we're there. If they're promising to pike you up to their foul gods, then it probably does mean we are there.

If you don't want the additional challenge, then by all means run away IC'ly. I'm not going to say it's going to impress us much, but you won't be punished for it in any way.

If you do put yourself in a spice situation, consider it sort of like signing a disclaimer that you accept the additional challenge and aren't going to have some kind of OOC issue about it, or think we're trying to kill you because we don't like you.

Most DM Spice exists to reward players, to justify additional loot/treasure for PCs we like, to make the quest more interesting (story-wise and mechanically), and to make your experience more fun. It does not exist to mess up your day, so please don't mess up our days by reacting poorly to it OOC'ly.

This post was not inspired by anything recently, just realized it's been months and months since this has been mentioned so I figured I'd say it so everyone is aware.
