Missing Inventory Items

For two characters now, I've noticed I'm missing items.

On Juniper Strides, a blue feathered +1 Deflection helm vanished on a reset.

On Flyne Amraphen, my Cold Iron Greatsword also went missing...and was replaced with a 'Steel Greatsword'

Also other characters have experienced this too that are of other players. Characters Clarice Nemetski and Jackie Blave have both stated they have noticed items missing as well with no sound reason.

I would ask that something be looked into and in the case of my missing helm and sword, that they be replaced. I actually sold off several other valuable items to keep from being encumbered in the case of the helm.

Thanks DM's!

I have had the renaming effect happen numerous times with potions. Strange fungus brew from gnolls turning into a bark skin potion, but won't stack with regular bark skin potions, as well as many other potion types.

Well in my particular case, the helm is just plain gone...and I happened to sell my other +1 deflection item because I had two at the time and now I have none.

petey512

Yes a minor summoning item or two just disappeared from my inventory.

BringOutYourDead

I've had a Carved Stone V disappear from my inventory.

Like I said last time, there is exactly one way in which an item may leave your inventory without your being notified, and trust me when I say that that's not what's happening. In other words, there is no case of anything disappearing; however, it is not impossible (though entirely unlikely) that something is somehow taking items, or in the case of stackables, that they merge with other items already in your inventory (which is entirely likely).

Check the PP scripts, we may of had some new players with Rogues who have PP and the scripts may be failing a bit.

I am sorry to say, but the stacking issue is not the problem. I had a Goblin ring that gave a +1 vs disease and poison, not more than an hour ago when I logged off. I log in just now, and its gone from my inventory.

Also shortly before I logged off, we had a player who fugued and when he returned his gold was gone from his pack, and no players in our group stole it as all of us were rushing forward into an attack (he died to a trap that all of us had stepped around).

There is something occurring here and its happening on multiple characters and players.

I did have my Lathanderite key taken upon leaving the old guildhouse (which is now called the Arcanists something, and its supposed to take the keys). Could this script somehow be affecting other characters in a similar way? I am just brainstorming here.

But this is become somewhat frustrating. It seems to be happening to the last item that gets swapped out of my equipable slots. This ring was teh last one to be swapped out.

just as with my character that lost his sword, it was the last item to be swapped out before I logged off.

is something not being saved properly at log out perhaps? Again, just brainstorming here.

This only seems to happen after I log out and come back in a while later. The items are not vanishing while I'm actively logged in and playing.

None of you people with the missing items have been using the command to alter your description, by any chance?

djspectre

No, I have not. I didn't even know that command existed.

I have tried to find common things between Flyne and Juniper. Add to the list for Flyne that he is missing is +3 discipline gloves also now today.

So far the list of similarities are these:
--All the items missing were equipped to the SHIFT+(fkey) quickslots
--All the missing items were recently swapped out (using quickslots), very close to a log out or server reset.
--None of the missing items were stackable items, like potions.
--All of the items boosted at one stat: saves, AC, skill.
--None were custom DM created loot.
--None of the items had any charge-based abilities on them (no healing, no spells, etc)
--In each case, the missing item that was equipped was replaced by the previous item equipped in the same slot. For example, I had equipped the Steel Greatsword and then hit the quickslot for my Cold Iron Greatsword. Then I ditched the steel one and logged off. Upon returning to the character some time later, the steel one was back and the Cold Iron one was missing. on Juniper, the Wickedguard was equiped, then swapped out for the Goblin ring. Upon relogin several hours later, the Wickedguard was equipped and the goblin ring was missing.
--None of the items missing were stored in a magic bag/leather pouch/herbalism bag/etc. All items were in my 'loose' inventory.

The reason I'm noticing these things missing is because I tend to set up my quickslots the same for all my characters. Herbs, and items that boost the healing skill, go right next to one another. So when I opened up Flyne's quickslots, things were all wonky and that sent me off searching for the items to correct my quickslots...which is when I discovered they were missing.

Oddly, this issue does not seem to be affecting my other active character: Deanna Gallows.

More brainstorming here: I know that when Dm's clone items to make new ones, sometimes the properties or unique item identifiers get all screwed up. Could that be whats happening here in some way? Like a DM makes a module change and the items ID #'s aren't the same from revision to revision?

I've also decided to try and take screenshots of my inventory and to export my character locally in the hopes of forcing a proper save of my character on the server (in case the script to save characters on log out wasn't working right or something).

I hope that this helps.

Has anyone who has experienced unexplained item loss NOT been part of a banner faction that had a guild key?

I know the guild-key stripping produces TMI errors, so maybe that is it...

Underbard

I still have the guild key and have not lost any items, if that helps.

djspectre

As a response, Flyne was part of the Lathanderite faction and had two keys, both were stripped as per the script.

djspectre

As a follow up on this, I have not experienced any additional items missing from any of my three active characters (Flyne Amraphen/Juniper Strides/Deanna Gallows) in the last several days.
