Dual-wield weapons other than Exotics?

Just to point out the obvious... you have to take exotic weapon proficiancy anyway if you want to use kukri's.
 
Anyway, I can't say I agree about "the everyone who dule weilds uses doubble weapons" thing. I dule weild with my main guy using a knife and scimatar, tho admitidly, I suck... But I've seen a good few around who also dule weild 2 seperate weapons, and don't suck.
 
Using a doubble sword may be better mechanically but you also have to take a feat to do it. And I know that atleast one guy around currently uses a doubble sword because "they look badass", and as has been mentioned, tehre is still the weapon finess aspect to be taken into account.
 
oh, and finally..

In fact, when we see a character that makes us go "This is really original and sweet, but gimped!", we may end up making him some sweet loot to counter-balance.

But it takes a feat. And that is much in such low level setting. I wouln't change Kurkis for my shortswords unless i was given the feat for free.
