Make Potions of a Radical Soul Brewable, or Lower Price and Increase Availability

Arguments:

1. Protection from Alignment is a level 1 spell that is able to protect against every single alignment other than True Neutral. This makes True Neutral characters, particularly ones that cast mind spells but this holds true in general, immensely stronger than any other character with a different alignment. This is common knowledge, of course, but all the same I don't believe this is desirable.

2. Potions of Protection from X may be purchased for a smaller amount of gold (a significant amount smaller) than Potions of a Radical Soul from NPC vendors. Again, I don't believe this is desirable.

3. While I am sure that the DM team takes all of this into account when they look over PCs, and shifts characters accordingly, that can't possibly cover every single PC. It would be more effective to simply incorporate something like this into the module.

4. Barring the rare druidic exception True Neutral isn't a particularly difficult alignment to play and is in fact an alignment lots of people pick when they don't really have an alignment in mind. I'm not sure the "apathetics" of the world, those who don't take a stance or a stand, should be rewarded for that with the immense benefits they get (only very rarely being effected by +2 on saves, +2 ac, and immunity to mind spells is definitely immense). This is an extremely subjective argument but it's how I feel.

Conclusion:

I'm thinking that the server would be better served if, at the very least, potions of a radical soul were made available at the same price as its good and evil counterparts at NPC vendors. Preferably, they would be made brewable, and the option to cast a 'protection from neutrality' spell added, but I'm honestly not sure whether that's possible at this point. I welcome anyone else's opinions. :)

Isn't Protection from Alignment used more for quests than it is PvP? Avoiding mind-affecting spells can be easily solved by drinking clarity, which is probably the biggest concern here.

FritoBandito

Even if mind-affecting spells were the only concern, which they are not (+2 saves, +2 ac), Clarity's duration is a great deal shorter than Protection from Alignment, and more expensive as well.

We call it clarity.

Again, that isn't really a good response to the suggestion... as I addressed in the post immediately before yours....

I think there should be three spells, PfG, PfN, and PfE...

LordOfBones

I don't really think true neutral should be an alignment PC's can choose, unless your playing a hardcore commoner or a bear; as an alignment it is pretty much only used by people who want to GSF enchantment hold person or GSF illusion PHK

This makes the most sense to me. It's already split into Lawful, Chaotic, Good, and Evil--L/N/E just seems like a more simple, comprehensive answer.
