This is another self serving suggestion regarding polymorph. I do not know if this is possible to script or hak but In addition to bonuses/penalties applied by Polymorph. I say allow the Polymorph forms to cast spells and use items while transformed  and even equip items.

Yes I am talking allowing mages in Child form to destroy people with Issacs and humiliate poor unfortunate souls. Yes I am talking Trolls  being able to cast flame weapons on their claws and ripping people apart. Although if it is too much of a hassle to implement or causes too much balance issues.

Knight Of Pentacles

No way.  Wizards are plenty powerful enough without being able to do everything they can normally in the form of a regenerating troll.  Maybe something worth considering for a sorcerer perk, because sorcerers are junky... but wizards? No way.

Ladocicea

I think this is impossible unless you fundamentally change the polymorph spell to not use the NWN polymorph effect and to instead manually change your appearance etc.

I do not in any case believe this is desirable, irrespective of the work it would take to implement.

Indeed polymorphing disables spellcasting as a hardcoded issue.

The only spellcaster in game at the moment who would potentially be able to cast in a shifted form would be a mimic - and thats only if the spell script allowed the player tools used in mimic spellcasting to be transfered onto the new polymorphed creatures "Hide"

Knight Of Pentacles

Granted I think you can be given a shapeshifting tool as a DM reward that works similar to how lycantroph hybrid shape works.  So I doubt it's out of question for DMs to give someone a few forms they can cast in.

Polymorph disabling spellcasting is not actually hardcoded. It can be made so you keep all your items equipped and can use items and cast. Is it desirable though and is it worth the time needed to do it?

If it is possible, I guess it would be awesome if it was implemented for wildshape too. Maybe as a perk or as an extra power for stronger druids.

Paha

Could be done, but not desireable if I am asked, and I likely am.

Would we want specific forms or things to be able to hold all kind equipment and what not, we can make it happen in wanted cases.

Re-roll

I can imagine for example, as a kind of flavor, allowing shapeshifted mindflayer form to be able to cast spells, but buffing polymorph is, in my point of view, hardly disbalancing and nonsensical.
