Hi there I play Artesia, just wondering if Evards is intentionally supposed to stack on top of each other or why this particular issue had occurred today, even if for the sake of future endeavours so i don't make the same mistake twice.
I made two of the three Fortitude saves and took 11 individual lines of damage inside a Strangeling explorable when 2 of them targetted me. My combat log shows only 2 spells being cast and yet three Fort saves were necessary, could it potentially have cast from Improved Invis as they are wont to do?

Quote from: Evard's Black tentacles now only gives a bonus to the number of tentacles when cast with Empower Spell, instead of increasing the number of tentacles and damage of each tentacle. It entangles, rather than paralyses. Freedom of Movement makes you immune to entanglement, Spell Resistance is checked, and it can be absorbed by Spell Mantles. Small creatures are not automatically immune but receive +8 to their grapple check to avoid tentacles. Tentacles damage is not dealt in bulk, but per tentacle and the damage does not count as magic, thus can be (mostly) countered by Ghostly Visage, for example.

Having read this if i understand it correctly the potion of Blur i drank shortly before the fight should have at least absorbed some of this damage, but unless that is hidden it has not. There is nothing in the log about being dispelled in any way shortly before the fight. If the tentacles in the explorable in question are cast with Empower Spell then i may be able to understand so much damage in just 2 rounds but otherwise this does not make sense.

I did take a screenshot in case anyone wants to take a further look at this particular issue, which i am happy to post up in private.

It is meant to stack, and tentacles remain on the ground able to harm you in secondary rounds. High level casters can make it a rather potent spell, but less so than typical evocations. It's rather well balanced in current form having been downgraded from a paralysis to this.

Do you have a screenshot of the combat log?

Blur certainly should be absorbing some of the damage, although tentacles do stack.

There are a large number of strangelings in that particular exploreable area, it's one of the more dangerous ones.
