Greatmauls currently weigh 12 lbs in the inventory, which significantly outclasses other large 2-handed weapons. While it isn't a huge issue, I just think that greatmauls should be nerfed by upping their weight to be comparable to greataxes.

One reason being that greatmauls do bludgeoning damage, which is an arguably better damage type than slashing in a decent number of scenarios. Having these weapons made at a lighter weight makes greataxes and even halberds almost-obsolete.

Sure, I could do that at some point. Didn't give it much thought. Next time if I at some point mess with the haks.

A quick note. No weapon, not even rapiers, are almost-obsolete, in my opinion. If you think on most great mauls vs. great-axes' or greatswirds, the former is made of wood with a large amount of iron ( or other metal). thats lighter than say, a 8 foot sword made of pure metal or a axe with a large portion, much more than the maul, being metal. Correct me if i'm wrong, but this was the reasoning when they were created for the lesser wieght.
/however/, i am not against having something to more balance the weapons, if the dms want to even balance it.

I'm curious, how would this effect mauls already ingame that PCs carry, DM loot or otherwise? While I see the point made and don't argue with it, suddenly carrying that much more weight would be a rather large pain for established PCs to have to deal with. They'd have to drop a lot of gear that maybe they aren't prepared to.

It would affect every item. I am not in a hurry to do this, it honestly is not major issue as it's 12 vs 20 if I recall right. But when and if I change it, it will affect everything. New and already existing items.
