Mari Galefist

I know you had a lot of trouble with the ups and downs of this PC but she was truly an awesome monk.

It's a difficult class to get firing on all cylinders on EFU and you even had a monastic group of followers, albeit for a short while.

It was awesome to combat you and our back and forths on Rufus were amazing.

Good luck on the next one.

MaimedGod

RIP Red Speck, good stuff

The Samophlange

Mari Galefist was an absolutely incredible character, and the server is a little worse for her loss. But, such is the way of truly fantastic characters... they never last as long as they should. She will be sorely missed.

Beryl

Another solid moonlighter PC, nice job.

Screenshots Time!

[hide=Early Days]
Mari started off as a nature PC.

This lead to some interesting encounters.

Aelywin and Wyran were friends, even if they didn't always wind up on the same side of things as Mari.

[mugging intensifies]

I made some friends. Quaregg was a bro.

Hanash and Mari watch the Drow and Orogs throw down in the Badlands. Then they ran for their lives.

Unfortunately the combination of 'Nature' 'Non-Steward' and 'Monk' proved untenable, and I eventually made Mari more of a Sanctuary-based PC because it was just toohard4me. While I still spawned out in the Wilds, and wandered the caves often, making Mari a presence in Upper turned out to be for the best. For one: I could talk to other halflings!

[hide=Farvyn Sundersong]

Farvyn and Mari got along right off the bat. Farvyn believed in Mari's ideals, and Mari believed Farvyn could help lead right alongside her.[/hide]

[hide=Melanie Coppertop]

Melanie was another of Mari's best friends and biggest supporters. Big ups to Tinfoilhat for playing an amazing PC.[/hide]

[hide=The Gang]

Mari, Tegwyr, Melanie, and Farvyn all together. Tegwyr is off hiding and being shy.[/hide]

[hide=Rogan of Luiren]

Rogan was canonically Mari's youngest brother (out of seven children), but the time between their births (Mari being 55, and Rogan being in his twenties) meant they never met until making it to the Underdark. They didn't always get along, and squabbled quite a bit, but she was quite fond of him.[/hide]

[hide=Games]

Mari loved games of skill and athleticism. As a Strongheart she was naturally competitive. When Abala Quickfeet asked her to play for the Red Team, she jumped at the chance, and wound up being their MVP.[/hide]

I also went on all kinds of crazy adventures in the name of ADVENTURE and BRANDOBARIS.

[hide=cuhrazy]

I got this warning about once every DM quest. Sometimes more. GO BIG OR GO HOME. GET PHAT LOOT.

This PC did all the quests my other characters couldn't or wouldn't do. Good times.

You always find new and interesting things in the Lowerdark.

[/hide]

[hide=Students]
Mari had three students, which was way more than I expected, unfortunately none of them really stuck with it. But still, I got to hand down my relics and some pearls of wisdom.

[/hide]

[hide=Flesh Forge Plot]
We were able to ambush the Cult of the Flesh Forge in a quest zone. However, a demon named Lyari appeared, and told Mari that for each member of their Cult that died, ten halflings would die. Unfortunately, by the time she received this news, Arthur had already killed two of their members. They weren't bluffing.

Mari eventually decided enough was enough and lead a raid on their Headquarters. Unfortunately, they failed, and Mari was captured.

Rilitar learned that killing Mari is way harder than it seems.

Apparently way, way harder than it seems.

I basically died my way into EIGing my Divine Champion. I wish I had lived long enough to get some plot, a quest, or some loot for the class other than what I had gotten, but the best laid plans of mice and men etc.

Then I tanked a Balor with Hamish. I successfully saved a Vorpal Crit, which was nice. Unfortunately I was too busy shrieking in fear to take screenshots of the battle beyond that point.

We removed the Geass on Ialadris...

And for one glorious moment I went supersaiyan. Just look at those saves, man.

This time it's personal.

And Rilitar was slain. That was the end of my involvement in the Flesh Forge plot.[/hide]

Thanks to all the DMs, and especially to all the players who helped make Mari Galefist what she was: A hero. I hope you enjoy these screenshots.

Pandip

I didn't interact with Mari a great deal, but from what I could tell she was one of those incredibly well played monks that really make the core of the class shine despite some of its difficulties in mechanics and roleplaying. I was always fascinated to see her acting for and against many aspects of the server. I constantly say this to players, but I want you to know I'm very genuinely looking forward to seeing what you play next.

The Old Hack

I'll miss Mari. She was fantastic. She added a great deal of mood to the server and was a truly well played halfling.

tinfoilhat

Between all the adventuring, philosophical discussions, and mooting Mari provided a lot of growth to my PC in terms of learning about halfling culture and tradition. There was a lot of great RP and intrigue following the little monk around, and I'm sad to see her go so soon.

I'm sure your next PC will be even better!

Bearic

Punching all the stuff!

Gentlemen of the Empire

I really enjoyed interacting with Mari while I was playing Farvyn and on the various PCs I have experimented with since. Fantastically well-played Monk whose code defined her. I am rather sad to see her go and will look forward to seeing what you roll up next.

tala_kai

I really love your PCs MN. I'm sad I didn't get to interact with her more. But everytime you logged I imagined a green (later red) demon just running across the Underdark, killing every NPC in it's path.

Really cool hin and you made me feel sad I didn't have a hin myself to join the fun, haha.

Can't wait to what you roll next, and hope I could take a part in their story :)

Dillusionist

Uncompromising and badass until the very end. Few people pull off monks well, but Mari was amazing. I know you always got sore about people calling her "Green Irith" for playing two halflings in a row, but both PCs were phenomenal in their own right.

I remember going up with her, at level 5, head on against a pair of well-geared substance tweekers.
