Divine potions: alignement restricted

I was thinking potions blessed by gods should more or less only work on people of the correct alignement.

Since it'd be too much a bother to script every potion blessed by such and such deity, maybe just making potions usable by good, neutral or evil people would make the potion business more 'religious'.

I know spells can be cast on people of opposite alignement, but actually i've always found that weird, too...

Comments?

Cruzel

It's the job of the cleric to make sure they don't cast spells or make potions for people they shouldn't.

This would just cut out an aspect of RP that barely happens enough as it is.

Pretty much the same stance as cruzel. If you just go about making potions/wands for anyone without knowing them, you're at fault.

Please no. It can be hard enough to find a supplier as it is.

And what of say, a Waukeener? They would sell to any so long as it was profitable to them. (At least, a TN one would)

Personally, I say it's the clerics RP job to determine whom to sell, not the Game Mechanics and DM's

I'll rephrase the suggestion: it's not about potions and wands PCs make, although that might also be something to look at. It's about those we find in quests.

Ex: finding serious heals on orc quest. Who wants to be healed by orcish deities? Or blessed by them?

Maybe make them usable by good-neutral or neutral-evil would clarify the origins of the brew.

It's something that is done for some items, already.

If I understand the suggestion correctly, I will have to oppose it. The Gods simply don't micromanage their spells like that. Normally, a cleric prays in accordance to his faith's rituals and customs, is 'loaded' with spells and then the Gods are out of the equation, AFAIK.

The cleric or paladin might be in trouble with his or her god if a god's spells end up in the wrong hands, but I can't see the 'wrong hands' slapped for it.

Not worth the trouble to script imo.

But same stance as Cruz. God take me for it.

When an item has alignment restrictions, it's usually because the item itself is somehow inherently aligned.

As for people drinking KOBOLD SLUDGE potions and smelly Orc brews... the DM team takes great amusement in the horrible things adventurers put in their bodies and equip so that they can quest. That's why we make such disgusting items, I think. :)

Totally unrelated <_<;
