I Would like to know what are the perks to this type of combination
They seem great but i havnt seen anyone try it is thier some hidden rule or somesort of horrible penlty i dont know about?:confused:

Well, it's mostly that they overlap so much.
Pally: Turn Undead, Divine Wand Use, Divine Spells, Martial Weapons, Heavy Armor, top AB, great saves
Cleric: Turn Undead, Divine Wand Use, Divine Spells, Heavy Armor, mid AB, Good Fort and Will saves, Taunt and Discipline.
Even the skills overlap a load.

A few Pally levels on a Lawful Good Cleric could be better than Fighter levels if you wanted Martial Weapons and more melee punch though. Divine grace saves, Taunt and RP value.

Cleric doesn't get taunt and discipline.

Some Paladin orders have multiclassing restrictions.

Paladins and Monks are not able to multiclass and then return to Paladin or Monk unless they are part of a specific canon order (which requires a mini-app) that allows multiclassing. Details of that can be found in the Do's and Don'ts Web Enhancement to Faiths & Pantheons, on the D&D website.

Clerics that multiclass to Paladin must obviously now adhere to all of the Paladin oaths if they wish to retain their powers.

Well thank you for the imput i was thinking of making a clric/paly build and so far his saves are amazing now also i can turn undead 12 times a day now

Lathander is one of the Gods that let's Paladin's multi-class.

Lathander: Paladins of the Morninglord are among the best-loved heroes of Faerun. They are loosely organized (along with other fighters devoted to the god) into a holy order called the Order of the Aster. Within their own church, the paladins are frequently more conservative and concerned with the way things should be done than the clerics, who are often neutral rather than lawful. Paladins may multiclass freely as clerics, divine champions, divine disciples, hierophants, and Purple Dragon knights.

As previously stated, the ability to multiclass as a Paladin doesn't come from the deity; but potentially from an Order to which a character might belong.
