Name of Summons

Name the summons with their straight names, without "summoned ...". Some summon themes got that as introduction to what the summon is, for instance the Spider Summon theme.

I think it makes more sense for all summons to just go straight to their description. The 'summoned' status remove ambiguity and gives info that would not be as easily acquired.

A giant spider crawling about a dark cave would bring out a different sensation than it would a summoned giant spider.

Divine Intervention

I have also had this thought before and unless there is some obvious tell that denotes a creature as summoned, it seems logical to remove the tag.  This might go a little ways to combating the reflex of looking for an invisible summoner without any real logic when attacked by certain creatures.

If we follow the what you see is what you get, then the summoned tag in the name means that they actually -can- tell that it was a summoned creature. It might be worth a moment to verify if this is suppose to the be the case, or not.

Summoners are already powerhouses of massive armies made by them alone. I think having "Summoned" before your summons is perfectly fine. Its the small advantage one has when a summoner erupts from no where with an army of ooze cubes that lets you defend yourself somewhat.

This is imo one of the most irritating metagamed pvp issues ignored.. a person is wandering and suddenly they are waylayed by creatures.. they would fight the creatures or run.. if they see "summoned" one of the first things they do is drink a see invis potion even though that makes no sense.. summoned for the purposes of straight out they see them just appear or summon them makes sense.. but I think that's obvious enough anyways if they just appear or are witnessed summoned, they don't need a tag to confirm that.. its really only a meta supportive thing

The thing is:

Not all summon themes got "summoned" before the name of the creature, what makes me think that it is not a necessity or a rule, or maybe just something that wasn't put much thought on yet.

PsionicBlast

Tbh, 99% of scenarios whether it is odd summons somewhere we you wouldn't expect to see them or an unusual amount of elemental's running around in a swarm you can pretty much IC'ly guess there's a summoner around! Removing "summoned" wouldn't really make a difference.

granny

It would. With a swarm of spiders in a dark cave. A swarm of rats in the sewers. A swarm of insects in the open wild. Many shadows coming out near a strange cave. Assassin vines near the Shroomstalk Forest and so on...

I remind you people, suggestion was made. This is not a discussion forum.

Unless you got specific, constructive criticism or suggestion, just don't post.

We look into them and may or may not implement suggestions. We won't weight in any majority opinions or thoughts, but rather if it makes sense or is something we would wish to see implemented as part of our other projects.

Sure, most "Summoned" removed from names... some exceptions remain (there is something poetic about "Summoned Rat Friend").

Howlando

My toolset crashed after changing the names of them all, and I don't quite have the heart to do it again as it's rather tedious.

Feel free to bump this some other day.

Summoned Rat Friend felt left out. He is to blame. :(
