A letter left at the Balladeer's College, smelling faintly of a potion of Fox's Cunning.

To Balladeer Aurelio d'Lyon,

With the planned attack upon Abulmahhu approaching, I provide this status report for the formation of the assault team I shall be leading.

I have, thus far, invited the following people to join the shortlist for the team:

  • Garen Linwood
  • Korinthus Dûngir and the Rathgan
  • Maqqari Ahmad (though he stated that he would be unable to attend)
  • Nadiri Selwyn Najm and other interested Nadiri
  • Nela Kelter
  • Nessia (flare gun operator)
  • Prelate Cort Cadugan
  • Robert Angleton
  • Theonaldarrion Vance
  • War Reporter Alice Helerath

Of note, Robert Angleton said that he will seek to create a number of items (e.g., gusting incense of winds) to supply the teams. I suggest you follow up with him to determine exactly what he could provide and who could best use them.

The above is not the final list as I also plan on inviting the following when I have the chance:

  • Ferya Blackthorn
  • Reginald Goblinsbane
  • Rodor Patson
  • Serphina Veilsong

Considering the number of people I have already invited and plan to further invite, I recognize that some of them may need to be moved to the other teams to even out our forces.

Furthermore, as I have been working on forming the team, my mind has touched upon the Artillery Team and Camel Messengers.

For the Artillery Team, I would highly recommend Lujayn al-Farisyya to work the spotter's telescope. I am less familiar with engineers capable of working the artillery machinery and only know of Robert Angleton, Ramez Hour Sobhy, and Luther Donisthrope who have manned them in the past.

Regarding the Camel Messengers:

They were not effectively used in the last raid as I recall one of the camels used by Alice Helerath as she lead a team and the other by the man known as Commodore Harlan Valehurst who, I believe, stayed with Helerath's team the during most, if not the entire, assault.

For the upcoming assault, it is key that they act as a line of constant communication with the other teams so that any team can request reinforcements and know when to send portions of their own teams as such.

I would recommend that Scribes Kiran al-Arith and Haknar Grametranken be assigned as Camel Messengers. I recall both have a natural affinity for swift movement which would benefit their responsibilities and should they be further supplied with potions of invisibility and retreat, they should serve particularly well.

If there are any other further major developments, I shall provide you with another status update.

In service to the Merciful Mother,
Faith Kruehtzer

Lannister

Excellent work putting this together.

We'll talk more in person but I think you're right regarding the mishandling of the Camel Messengers. I intend to deploy a new battle tactic using Whispering Wind Wands.

My hope is that we can get the Camel Messengers to relay their movements, and information to a person on standby near the Bellows at the camp which can then parrot these messages for us all to hear.

Distance may be an issue, it is something we must practice and investigate.

Yours faithfully,
Balladeer Aurelio d'Lyon
